Bad luck with your legs though man. Maybe you just aren't too used to shred with all of the stuff that's been going on and you just need to practice more. ; ) But yeah man, props on the Far Pickup, that move feels so weird to me. Get your ass over to Raleigh once in a blue moon.

I've been working on two books that I want to write. One is fiction, and one is a Terry Southern-inspired satire/autobiography of sorts. I've been reading a lot lately and have finished a few books:
Tom Wolfe's Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test
Richard Dawkins' The God Delusion
Terry Southern's Red-Dirt Marijuana and Other Tastes
Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five
Currently I'm reading
William Gibson's Neuromancer
Noam Chomsky's After the Cataclysm: Postwar Indochina and the Reconstruction of Imperial Ideology
Dr. Mitch Earleywine's Understanding Marijuana: A New Look at the Scientific Evidence
Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time
I've also lost about 20 lbs. since anyone on modified would've seen me. I've been eating healthy, smoking less, and going to the gym 3-4 times a week and either playing racquetball or running laps. I was inspired to do all this when I was wasted one night with my friends and we ended up having to hop a fence and it was harder than it should've been. I'm also taking a Political Science course - focusing on Genocide in the 20th Century. It's pretty interesting, albeit quite depressing.
All in all I'm doing pretty well and I still hope one of these days I'll have the motivation to start kicking again. I just thought I'd stop in and post an update for whoever reads this.

Awesome man. Props on the weight loss. o_O That's a nice chunk of change you've lost. I bet your stamina will be much better next shred. We need to plan something with Josh, Aric, You, and I.
Tkae it easy buddy.

Hey everyone. I have some news. I was arrested last weekend - I don't want to talk about it other than to say I'm going through a rough time...
And because of that, I'm in Raleigh, so I can shred with whoever else is in Raleigh now... I'm not exactly sure how long I'll be here though.
Anyways, Alan (or whoever else is in town) if you want to shred just PM me and I'll get back to you and we can set up a time to play. I'd definitely like to play, although I haven't played in a long while. I brought my bags and my Lavers home though. And I've still been trying to eat healthier and go to the gym and whatnot.
So... just let me know.

man dave, that totally sucks. i can only imagine what you were arrested for. please tell me it didnt involve guns or babies.
anway, i hope footbag can be your deterent. footbag got me out of trouble when i really needed some help. not legally... but it kept me wanting to make healthy, low-risk choices.
maybe you need a vacation to nashville?

Thanx for the support Holly! I don't like guns and I would never hurt babies so it doesn't involve that. I'll probably do a writeup of my arrest later but I'm still sort of strapped for time as of now. Sadly I probably can't afford a vacation to Nashville right now. Maybe later in the year though! I never rule out a trip. How's Brian?
I don't know about everyone else on modified, but I love podcasts. Listening to them keeps me up to date with all of the issues I want to know about. Here's a few of my favorites:
(New York Times) Book Review, Coffeegeek, (My Podcast) Engagement Head, NORML Daily Audio Stash, nugscast, Portafilter.net, (New York Times) Science Times... and a few more but they're really specialized and I doubt anyone would care about them.
I'm still reading... I've been focusing on Sam Harris' End of Faith and Dante's Purgatorio (almost done! Then on to Paradiso!)
I've been cooking a lot - anyone want to trade recipes with me? I'm into Italian food a lot but I want to learn as much as I can about cooking. I'm still a novice... I don't use many ingredients that are hard to find either.

Hey man, looking forward to playing later today. I called Ryan Thomas in Charlotte and he'll be coming out to play as well. We're aiming for late afternoon.

Hey ya'll. My ankle is "healed" but it still cracks all the time. It doesn't hurt much. I haven't been working out lately so I'm a little unhealthy - I've been sick for about a month now actually. I'm going to hopefully start working out this week. I'm trying to get my life back together. I've had a lot of stupid drama going on in my life that I'm not at fault for.
I've got a job working for our school newspaper - so I've been published like 6 times so far this semester which is great experience.
I met some guy at a football tailgate last night after I noticed he had on Lavers, and he's actually a footbagger. I was too wasted to talk to him about shredding though - didn't really know what was going on yesterday.
School's going pretty well - although I haven't been applying myself. So I'm trying to do that more now.
Anyways I guess that's about it, otherwise everything's mostly the same.
Later!

So I played a little last week with one of my frat brothers. It was fun, I hit some cool stuff. I've been watching some of the footbag vids that have been coming out. I think I finally realized why I played the sport in the first place - I always loved the community. I never expected to get good at shredding or anything. But on the same hand, I always wanted to be better - I just wouldn't put in the time it took to get better.
School is a trip. I just signed up for my last semester at ECU and it was weird. I just hope I get to do something fun after I graduate in May (hopefully - fingers crossed).
Girls are ridiculous.
I am so behind in everything!

My charges got dropped today! I'm free and my record should be expunged within the next four months.
What a headache for nothing - turns out the cop that arrested me most likely LIED about the charges, he was fired from our local police department for lying about multiple cases and then somehow transferred to the sherrif's dept. But anyways, at least it's over, although the freaking thing cost a lot of money and time and stress.

Did I tell you about the time I was arrested? It was lolz. Good adrenaline rush though, and being in court was so much fun. It briefly inspired me to become a lawyer. The cops lied about everything in my case too, but it didn't really matter because they didn't actually know what the laws were (I was charged with failing to comply with the direction of a police officer, but the direction turned out to be unlawful, nor was it the direction they actually gave me) and the magistrate dismissed the charge as "totally inappropriate."

@Jeremy:
Yeah man! My arrest actually was completely unlawful - I was charged with something that in my state is not arrest-worthy since I was intoxicated. It was definitely an interesting adrenaline rush but it sucked in general.
@Holly:
I would love to make it to NYJ. It depends on funds. Are you and Brian going? I'd like to see you guys again.
---
I went to one of the best concerts I've ever been to a few nights ago. I'm still exhausted from it - it was constant dancing and yelling and sweating all over the place. The band was Soldiers of Jah Army (SOJA). I advise anyone who likes reggae to check them out.
I'm doing just fine.

Cool Holly - hopefully I'll be able to make it.
I'm home for a few days for Thanksgiving. Coming home always makes me depressed. Oh well.
I'm hoping to pull myself out of my rut this week. I need to make a to-do list. I guess that's number one on the list, eh?
Things are super busy.
There's another girl in the picture - super fun times but we're totally different and she's really intimidating. Girls are like a constant battle for me that I'm always losing.
I've been reading Stephen Hawking's "Brief History of Time" - I'm almost done with it and I think I'll read Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" next.
Does anyone listen to STS9 (Soundtribe Sector 9)? I thought I'd ask but I didn't feel like making a thread. For that matter, what about Disco Biscuits? I've been getting into that stuff a lot lately. Also, some Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (the guitarist for The Mars Volta, one of my favorite bands by far). Anyone listen to any of this stuff?
