oh hey, anyone remember that reese witherspoon joke from worlds?

I've been hitting people with that. It's been fun.

"did you hear about that actress that got stabbed this weekend... uh, reese..."

"WITHERSPOON???"

"No, it was actually with a knife"

I've been rocking one like that for several years:

"it smells like up-dog in here"

"what's up-dog"?

"nuthin much dawg, what's up with you"?

today

I hit a new five today, thinking perhaps I should submit it as my sick one.

also bsos'd sidewalk, ripwalk, reverse whirl, whirl, mirage, ducking clips,

Hey man, good progress from some older vids that I watched. The whirls were a little over the top (meaning I thought they weren't quite a ful circle around the bag, they just went over the top but the dex didn't pull back down and under.. kinda hard to explain, but watch some amazing whirlers and you'll see what I mean) here and there, and one of the tapping whirls was too far from your body for you to clean the dex, but otherwise I thought your form and balance and both sides looked really good! Keep it up! I hope my comments are taken as they're intended, to help you get even better :-)

edit: Let me refine my comments on the whirls. I liked the whirls in the first view a lot better. The ones when the cars are behind you are the ones I didn't like as much. So that's good news.. looks like all you have to do is mimic your own whirls that are better from the beginning of the vid.

It may have looked that way because they were mostly reverse whirls.

check it again and see if that is the case.

ha ha, you're right, my bad. Definitely reverse whirls. I'm not a huge reverse whirl fan because most people's reverse whirls have that "over the top, not full circular dex" look to them. That said, I think you can get that full circular dex and be on of the reverse whirlers that I like (not that me liking your reverse whirl is high on your priority list :-) )

Btw, I like your atomic set

Oh, and thanks for your comments on my infinities, it gave me some motivation to make sure I wasn't talking out my a$$

Hey, nice stuff, Paul!
I really liked the infinities -- is that your record?
I challenge you to hit 5 different runs of 20 tiltless (can include trips) in one session; if you've done that, 30.

thanks, yeah, that was my record that you saw. I was only going for 10, and then it was just feeling natural, so when ten came around, I thought, hey, why not keep it up?

that is a good Idea about 20 different runs, because I really like the structured "on purpose" drills and runs. all planned out.

I notice that if I don't plan it out, I go into ducking clipper all the time. and just clippers and whirls.

if it is planned, and I hit it, it feels like an accomplishment.

Well, I didn't mean planned, necessarily.
Unplanned might be better, but you can plan one or two, if you want.
I just think it's good for building a foundation -- strengthens run length, stamina, consistency, and will help push your game towards being able to play guiltless (if that's an aspiration -- it doesn't have to be; I wouldn't want to push a close-minded perspective of hacky.)

Yeah! I don't check this blog too much, I guess I should. A bunch of new tricks and your string length has DEFINITELY improved since worlds. Gyro DLO and pigbeater? I've been wanting to hit those forever. But definitely the main thing is the run length, it looks like it's gotten a lot better. Great stuff Paul!
