Footbag under fire?

Well, it looks like footbag's been getting attention, but not the good kind. Anyone else see these articles? They're also on the footbag.org home page under the blogosphere thing.

horrible. poor steve. all he does is give to this awesome sport, yet some uneducated people jump to conclusions. why cant people just see that footbag is becoming popular for reasons other than google?

indeed. well, i have to think i'd kinda be pissed if there was a google link to a Parkour site, or a cup stacking site... i've reached some kind of ethical dilemma.

Steve Goldberg (a good friend of mine) is gReaderâ€™s chief manager. He had nothing to do with Footbag Worldwideâ€™s feed being included in the sports bundle; it was his engineers who light-heartedly included it without his knowledge.

Besides this: Footbag.org is the official website of the International Footbag Players Association which is a US 503(c) registered non-profit organization. So, no, Steve did not benefit financially from the inclusion of this feed, a non-profit did.

So, A) Steve didnâ€™t know about the inclusion until after the fact. And B) Steve doesnâ€™t make money from the ads on footbag.org.

You seem to have missed some pertinent information that significantly changes the premise of your post. I think that you would be wise to update your post to reflect this.

This was a comment in the second link. So, it was his employees that were trying to be funny. Steve didn't know about it. No conspiracy. Case closed?

Getting a little off topic, when the updated google reader was put online, Footbag.org went down, and I sent Steve an email about it, and then like a day later he fixed the problem and replied, and told me that he'd just woken up after working a 44 hour shift to get the reader going. Putting the footbag.org feed into the sports was partly a joke, but also partly a thank you for working 44 hours straight.

One thing you may notice (!!) is that they included us (footbag.org)
in their sports "bundle". This was a sort of joke, but also sort of
honor, that my team bestowed on me at 6am the morning of launch (we
had been up all night). They slipped it in when I wasn't looking.

Wow, this little 'joke' may have gotten ten more people to look at footbag!
