so obviulsy there is a general lean against skate shoes for footbag.however, i found a pair today that ar great. seriously! they are not heavy, have a flat inside surface, and were leather on top of mesh that i modified in EXACTLY the same way as lavers. basically, they are just fine. and skate shoes are usually bulky because of that foam padding... once i removed it, they are no bulkier than lavers. i will post pics soon, they look very cool. they are emerica, but not sure what model. later

If you could just post up the type of shoes, that would be helpful.
Simply saying; "I got some different shoes, and they're really good" isn't going to convince anybody to buy those shoes, even you do convince everybody that the shoes are the best footbag shoes ever, because we don't know what to buy...

i removed the leather outer layer on the toe box, inside and outside just like you do with lavers. the only difference was i had to remove the foam padding in the tongue, but it was very easy. the inside surface is very level, and these shoes are very good for clippers and inside delays. they are only a fraction heavier than lavers because of the rubber sole, but it is not by much at all, because this is obviously a lighter "skate" shoe. the mesh on the inside is exactly like lavers, and i think this color combo of blue/white/black looks sick. the insoles are also very soft and supportive. comment please, and let me know what you think! i bought these at a discount shoe store for 44 dollars. Also please consider that there are already other topics devoted to general 'new footbag shoe' finds which this topic would have fitted into to. Keeping topics together in one makes it less cluttered on the Forum and easier for people to find information later on.
If this thread is to continue to exist can you please edit the name of it and add the brand and model of the shoe.

yeah shredzilla, your right, they are. but as you said, the sole is a harder rubber, not the laver foam type material. i sorto f like how that looks better. the hugely thick inside layer sole of lavers are slightly unattractive to me. thanks for the comments guys... i can already tell these shoes are gonna be great.my clippers are honestly really good with these, im stoked. i will let you guys know how they hold up later on, probably via my footblog. later yos

They look like a good walking around>bust out a quick run>continue walking around. Lavers look like a shoe with a purpose.

both the inside and the toe look too sloped. lavers look like they're going to reach out and grab the bag to me.
With the internet, EVERYONE has access to lavers and quantums.
I'm not against your experiment, but I won't be conducting trials myself, and, if I were to be asked if I'd recommend these shoes to a beginner (because I can't imagine who else would buy them; anyone beyond beginner level would have the gumption to get themselves a proper shoe), I would say no.
If you can shred in them, great. i applaud you. hell, maybe you can outshred me in them (it's not hard to outshred me these days
or any days ever). but you're not going to be able to convince me that they're a better shoe than lavers.

calemccoy,
Pretty much any shoes will work for footbag freestyle. I'm sure that any guiltless player will be able to hit all the basic tricks wearing the shoes you are talking about or similar once. Unfortunately, it's going to take a bit more effort and you will be having some hard time hitting and linking complex tricks, I guarantee.
