I think you're right. Just looked up zooming, gonna try that soon. I forgot to mention that i got a spinning clipper today to, though i don't know which way i was spinning. It was from cross body. I set the bag, then instead of spinning into it where the front of my body faces it first, i did a sort of back spin i think its called. Where my back faces the bag first. Whatever. Zooming looks pretty sweet. But first, must get my tiltless more locked down. I can't do Illusions, so maybe i should work on those, they just make me angry, and tips would help out greatly.

Hey Eoghan :)

Good vid man. I was suprised to see the harder moves like osis and refraction in those long runs. It's funny to hear you count, because I kinda do that, and that's the hardest part about long runs for me is counting. Usually I have my longest runs when I'm NOT counting, and then I'm bummed cuz I have no clue how many contacts there were lol.

As for illusions: This move is funny because it will evolve greatly from the time you start to use them, and everyone does them a little differently. The way I do them is to set the bag, quickly replant the set foot, and while you're planting, use the support leg to hop and whip over the bag horizontally. Right after you dex, plant the dexing leg and bring the set foot back up for the catch.

If you're just first learning them though, focus on the dex a lot. Just set the bag and move your dex leg around it and let it fall to the ground. Once you get that dex to be nice and deep, try to go for the catch.

Keep at it, I haven't read through your blog too much, but in those tiltless strings, don't be afraid to bail to clipper from time to time. A favorite drill of mine is clipper>ss legover>op clipper>ss legover>op clipper>ss pickup>op clipper>ss pickup. It's an easy bsos drill with 8 contacts.

Keep it up!

1) focus on the dex a lot. Whether you stick to the mindset, say a year from now, is up to how you play the game.
2) don't worry about hitting the trick as much as getting the dex really exaggerated and deep. It's a hard enough trick alone to get clean when you're first doing it and it's just such an essential trick that you'll want it as deep as can be at first. After you practice for a while you'll inevitably get fast enough to just hit the trick anyway. So yeah. Think deep.

Transformer!

Nice long strings lookin sharp! I would suggest more clippers as well and also try more clipper>toe move links. Osis is just too easy for you with that nutty transformer crank. I'm jealous

Thanks for the info on the Illusions. Shredzilla i know what thats like. I always usually get really good runs when I'm not counting, but when i drop i realize i have no idea how many contacts i just did. It's funny. That BSOS drill you suggested is really nice. I actually made a up a drill exactly like that a while back, but it was just clipper>ss pickup>op clipper>ss pickup>rpt. The clipper to ss legover link is hard for me, but my legover is getting way better, and i think i could hit it consistently soon. I think it's obvious i'm a dominate toe player, i can do all my tricks from clipper, but whenever i go for clipper in a run, my minds like "No! Osis is cooler" So i do that instead. I love the osis, and i only discovered refraction a day ago, and thought it was pretty sweet, i like the feel of that trick. Like a spinning wrap. Well thanks for the advice on the illusions and the props on the video. Now i must go, for tonight there's a halo 3 party going on at my church, and my shredding buddy Cale is gonna be there. So theres gonna be some hard core indoor shred going down tonight. I might try filming, but my camera can't film unless it's under direct sunlight. So oh well. One more question, what is BSOS mean? I keep hearing it, but i would like to understand it? I'll try searching it. Shred on brothers

BSOS means 'Both Sides One String' which is basically saying you're hitting a move on one side of your body and then the other side within the same string. So with that drill I gave you, you're hitting clipper, ss pickup, and ss legover BSOS. BSOS has become a crucial element to today's game, and it's important to be able to hit all your moves on both sides.

Alright, a lot to report on. Ok so i went up to my church yesterday for a halo 3 all nighter lan party. Though the purpose of the party was to play halo 3, i shredded way more then i played. Another good thing was that Cale was there to, so we had probably the best session we've ever had together. We decided to start exchanging drills at about like 11:30 or 12 at night. So i would suggest a drill, do it, then pass it to him, then he would do it. We came up with some new drills, as well as doing ones we knew like the triforce clipper drill (Which i got to level 3 on, dropped on the fourth flipside) The best part of the evening though was a drill i Cale and i came up with. It's an twelve contact drill, and i made it to the 10th on my second rotation, so i almost got through it twice, but here it is. It goes as follows...

Nocturnal Drill
clipper>op clipper>op clipper>ss pickup>op clipper>ss pickup>op clipper>ss pickup>ss legover>op clipper>ss pickup>ss legover>rpt

Cale got through it to. I also got zooming mirage for the first time, which felt great, i can't wait to get really good at zooming. Cale got 10 clippers alternating sides, and we just had an awesome time shredding. Gonna try and see about a job tomorrow, need to start saving money for SJFF, and while we're on that subject, anyone know exactly how much money it would be wise to bring? I don't know about lodgings and things, but just money for food, souvenirs, possibly some bags? If anyone has got any info on that, it would be greatly appreciated. As for now, shred on brothers, shred on.

Try to be much lighter on your feet. In the videos, if you go watch them again, your feet are incredibly loud. If you play quieter (more on the balls of your feet, not so "cloppity clop") then it will help prevent injuries, and make your movements more efficient, which will help increase your endurance.

Thanks for the advice HG. Had a session today where i worked on being light footed, and i think i can hear noticeable improvement. Another thing about this session was that i was bailing to clippers way more then usual. I think James advice kicked in there. The closest i came to breaking my tiltless record of 23 was 22. I kept trying but i couldn't get past 15 :( Oh well. Nothing else really to report, except that my game is improving so massively i can't even keep up with myself. All my tiltless is incredibly both sided, and very consistent. I feel really good about nailing the basics first before i even try adding some guiltless, though i do some of the BOP drills sometimes. But when i go for a freestyle string, it's all tiltless baby. Shred on.

I can really relate to trying for a set number & not getting close to it. I'd say try not to build anything's significance up into something larger than what it is. But keep working on those drills, and sooner or later you'll naturally find yourself deep into a run, just go with it.

Have you seen King of Kong? Well - if so, its kind of like how even the best players of Donkey Kong, the guys who've figured it out to a ridiculous degree, sometimes don't get all that far. Sometimes they'll play all day to get to a good run. Record breaking runs won't happen every day.

Well, that's my two cents, BYO grain of salt.

Well, i had an ok session today. Nothing exceptional, though i took Franks advice and kind of just let everything flow. I was doing the drill clipper>ss pickup>op clipper>ss pickup>Rpt. I started counting, and then at about 38 i realized i had broken my old tiltless score, but then i went to 47, and when i dropped, i didn't feel like i had just done something great. I don't feel I'm improving at this sport. I feel like I'm stuck on the 2 adds. But i know i need to get them down like crazy before i can go onto adding 3 adds into my runs. It's just starting to get a little old. I honestly don't know whether i'm gonna stay active in this sport. I'm afraid of falling out, and stopping completely. But i don't feel like any progress is being made. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

i told you man... its a litlle important to try three adds here and there to keep spice. playing footbag to get perfect at something isnt as fun as playing footbag to get something new. dude, your titless are as good as they are gonna get..... seriously, stop drilling and try new stuff. (dont attack me for that, i know eoghans game, and his tiltless game is great) dont get discouraged man, just get out of robot mode. remember that night we were trying to get whirls and it was THAT close, but we couldnt? it was SO fun, right? get back to that mindset, and youll love it again. also, you need a new bag =)

Yeah i guess your right. I should try doing some BOP drills, or something. But yeah. A lot of my 3 adds need some work, my butterflies and Pdx Mirage's aren't that great, though i think my osis is consistent enough. My whirls are CRAP, so that could use some working. But yeah, i should be working something besides tiltless, except Illusion, i still HATE that move, but i know i want it. It's a component of Eggbeater, and thats an awesome trick. Anyway, next time i got a session I'll work on some of my three adds, while still doing some tiltless stuff. I don't think i need to drill pickups as much anymore. But i can;t stop doing legovers, i love that trick, it just feels so lovely. Well, i guess I'll be leaving you now. Had another crap session today, but i guess thats to be expected every now and then. I did a lot of whirls today, though i dropped a lot of them. I discovered proper form for the trick. Instead of leaning to the opposite side of my body away from the whirling leg. I lean over it. My dex's got much cleaner after i did that, i my flipside whirls are about as consistent as my strong side ones. Thats isn't saying much though. Some highlights of past sessions are as follows. Ducking Mirage, Ducking Osis bs, and Ducking ss clipper. I am just in a little rut for now, but I'll get out, just wait and see. Cale, i want to know if SJFF is gonna happen, cause if i was even thinking about going, my dad would want the information ASAP. Like i got their website and everything, but it's impossible that he would drive me, so the only way for me to go would be with someone else. But i need to let dad know whats happening a week before it goes down. If i can't go thats alright, I just hope that you have an awesome time if it works out. Shred on brothers.

Had another session today, though this one was at 11:00 P.M, so naturally I'm a bit tired right now. So heres some quick highlights

PLO bs.
A couple whirls, Strongside.
Discovered the way to do fairy sets.
Got my first obvious uptime Atomic set.
My first relatively clean smear.
Came ttthhhiiiissss close to Magellan, gonna get it next time i have a session.
DLO still horrible, oh and Cale, stepping legover is not DLO, it's just stepping legover, i checked.
I notice improvement on my clippers. My clipper game is becoming so consistent, it's pretty much at the same level as my toe game.
I got a bunch of Pdx Mirages, from clipper and out of osis.

Ok, I got most of my tricks down pretty good, at least the ones i actually throw in strings, but there's one that i just can't seem to do correctly. Butterfly. I always feel weird when i do a butterfly, like everything is in the wrong place. I don't know how to describe it, but it just feels wrong. The highest i got with infinities today was 2. Thats normal though. I guess since i never do butterflies, i'm not very good at them. I'll search around, and find out what I'm doing wrong. I guess thats everything for now. Until we shred again.

Who is this Eric dude you always talk about? :?

I would drill more clipper>op clipper for a while. I don't see you do that a lot, you should try to hit like 10-20 in a row. After that just practice repeating butterflies. Make sure to hop slightly back after setting.
