By all means vote for him, but I'm pretty confident that he won't actually win the Democratic nomination. Apart from maybe McGovern in 72, I doubt that there have been and presidential candidates as left leaning as Kucinich. While that's not necessarily a bad thing in general, it makes his chances of getting the nod ahead of more mainstream candidates like Clinton and Obama pretty sketchy.
That said, if I could vote, I'd be voting for Mike Gravel - who is a super radical lefty socialist. I'm not, I just think he's the funniest candidate

Gravel is pretty awesome. I would vote for him, but I won't be eighteen at the time, so whom I vote for is a non-issue.

Wait, but Faranheit 9/11 showed that Bush never won the election. Gore won the election, but by such a small margin (around half a million), Bush demanded a recount. Which is allowed under the Constitution in times of close races. But what ended up happening was the Supreme Court just decided to elect Bush because they figured he had more 'valid votes'. Most believe this meant that they disregarded the 'non-valid' black votes.
Taken from http://www.bushwatch.com/gorebush.htm:
"First, is an established fact that Gore beat Bush in the national popular vote by over a half million votes. Secondly, Consortium interpretations of the voting data conclude that thousands more people voted for Gore in Florida than Bush. The problem for Gore is that many more votes in his favor, such as the Palm Beach butterfly votes, were declared invalid than similar votes for Bush. Third, discounting such unretrievable invalid votes, Consortium interpretations, which allow only fully-punched ballot cards and correctly marked optical scaned ballots, conclude that Gore still beat Bush in a statewide recount in Florida by a thin margin of over 100 votes. Which brings us back to the Supreme Court decision.
In its Dec. 12 decision the Supreme Court indicated that its conclusions were based upon equal protection law, and decided that in order to have equal voter protection in Florida the entire state should be recounted. However, even though there were weeks left for such a recount prior to the formal reception of the states' electoral college votes in Congress, the court decided that there wasn't enough time for such a recount, so five of nine members of the court decided, along party lines, to select Bush as the winner in Florida. The Consortium data indicates that they were wrong to think that Bush had won the popular vote in Florida. At any rate, in its Dec. 12 decision the Court made clear that if it hadn't selected Bush, its fallback decision would have been to call for a statewide election, since it considered the case to be a matter of equal rights. It further indicated that not taking a position on the matter was not an option."
Sooo....If Bush won the election, in spite of the fact that he lost the popular AND electoral vote.....How is voting not pointless?
Point, n: 4. A matter of reason to determine a course of action of something.

And you're welcome not to vote, Shredzilla, but you're also welcome to give up all of your other rights as an American citizen.

Okay I think you missed my point. We did vote, and our vote didn't matter. Bush still won even though he had less votes. So it's not our basic right anymore. It's just a moot action that we go through every 4 years.Bringerofpie wrote:And you're welcome not to vote, Shredzilla, but you're also welcome to give up all of your other rights as an American citizen.

Man you guys have a messed up political system. Get a preference system!
Also voting is far from pointless. The 2000 election is a great example of how important it is to vote. No matter who you think should have won, the reality is that the election came down to a few hundred votes in Florida. Had an extra 1% of the US population voted in every state (I don't know state populations, but assuming they're the same) and voted for Gore - there would have been no controversy and Gore would have won.
Think about that; if 1 of the 7 out of 10 people who didn't vote had have voted, Gore would have easily and uncontroversially won. In fact if 538 people in Florida had have voted for Gore, instead of not voting, Gore would have won without question.
