I played with my stepdad's cube anytime I saw it laying around, not looking like he was trying to solve it. I figured it out all the way to the last side. Haven't had the time to figure it out, yet. I don't even know where his cube is right now.

I can do java cubes online in about three minutes. They take longer because you have to look at it from a fixed angle.

Best non-lucky is around 50 seconds and average around 1 min nowadays maybe.

What methods do you use for solving?

I can't solve them to save my life, but i have never really tried haha.

There is a kid at my school who averages about 20 seconds. It is insane.

I'm a beginner. I have a lot of trouble with higher level methods, but I'm getting better at them.

I use the layer method. Very easy, but it takes around 200 moves, so it takes a long time.

Anyone who can read can learn to do ~75 second Rubik's cubes in a completely reasonable amount of time.

Well, you're either born with the potential to learn to read, or your not so I think Ollie's point is true. I would say that if you can think you could also figure out the pattern fairly easily (given enough time), but I don't think I need to clarify my statement too much, as I think people born without the potential to learn to read will have the potential to think (unless they're blind, but that would make Rubik's cube a little harder).

I've never tried one.

Just to clarify my point, I'm willing to bet that if somebody spent as much time doing Rubik's cubes, without reading about how to do them, as most of us have spent playing footbag, they'd get pretty quick by the 6th year, regardless of their reading skills (assuming they have the potential to learn to read).
