Please stop posting Bullshit!
Wow, in the last few weeks i've been reding this section of the forum i have been shocked and amazed by the amout of misinformation and bad advice that i've seen circulating around here.
I'm not saying stop asking questions, by all means, ASK QUESTIONS!!! an inquiring mind is great, and in my opinion it's even better when it's a search for truth and information about one's self. But to those of you asking questions, i beg you, do not trust every thing you read in this section. Don't believe any one. don't believe me, or your grandma, don't believe vasek. regardless of who it is, take their words with a pinch of salt (in most cases i recomend a handful) and do your own research. and research is not synonymous with google. any one can make a website, look for verified sources.
if shit hurts, see a specialist. if that specialist gives you a treatment plan, ask them how long they expect it should take to heal. if it isn't progressing, get a second opinion. DON'T ask a bunch of people with no medical background what the best treatment for such and such an injury is. they don't know! hell, half of them couldn't tell the difference between their ass and a hole in the wall. And from what i've heard, people in here have even posted remedies that will WORSEN a condition and claimed it will help. what the fuck do they know???!!!??? personal experience, though at times helpful, does not stand up to years of medical research and field experience. see a specialist.
and also, don't self diagnose your self with serious injuries, because if you're wrong and start self treatment, you're not doing your self any favours. even if you're right, do you know the extent of your injuries? do you know the time, frequency, intensity and type of exercises you should be doing? the internet can give you an idea, but without the proper understanding of various factors you can't be sure you're even doing it right.
so, to those of you asking questions, please ask, but buyer beware. to those of you dolling out advice, unless you have real understanding of a topic, please keep your fix-it remedies to your self before you hurt somebody.

Very true. I've have had both a personal trainer and a sports physiotherapist in the past.
Very important to note is the difference between an injury of an intense athlete and an injury of any ol' joe. An athlete usually wants their injuries to heal ASAP so they can once again physically exert themselves (with footbag players it's usually to an extreme point). Any ol' Joe can just "take it easy" and time will usually heal their "discomfort".
Now, when it comes to physiotherapy the body is complex. Trying to get it to heal faster than normal is a procedure that is very careful and accurate. PEOPLE GO THROUGH 8-10 YEARS OF SCHOOLING (and debt) TO LEARN THIS SHIT AND HELP US WITH IT. IT AIN'T COMMON SENSE.
I'm late for shred, gotto go. I hope I wasn't just repeating what you said Andrew. And I also hope you agree with what I added.

First think about how to practice or don't bother practicing.

I agree. Sometimes I wonder if this part of the forum does more harm than good. Like if people have questions on anything related to health and injuries they are better off looking it up on WebMD.
You wouldn't ask a doctor for tips on your atomic set, so don't ask a footbagger for tips on what to do about your knee injury.
The more I think about it we should just kill off this section of the forum entirely.

Well, the health part of the name is good. You could just get rid of "Injuries." Then it would be the "Health &" forum.

How do I know if I have real understanding of a topic? What if something worked for me, but didn't work for another person? Is that considered as a bad advice or what?hacksterbator wrote: ...to those of you dolling out advice, unless you have real understanding of a topic, please keep your fix-it remedies to your self before you hurt somebody.

I agree. Its pretty much useless for most people's questions, potentially harmful, & people could probaly find the basic health & fitness information contained here that isn't bullshit (like hydration or stretching) somewhere else without a lot of effort.Iron Clad Ben wrote:The more I think about it we should just kill off this section of the forum entirely.
I've posted in here based on my own dr.'s recommendations, but I can see how even that would contribute to the bullshit. I should stop doing that.
I think injuries should be discussed, however injuries and solutions which are being explored should be entirely footbag related. In short, Jorden's thread Proper form & Preventing Injury is the perfect example of how we should use this forum.
If someone starts noticing a pain with a new addition to their game, they should inquire about what they are experiencing, and what in their game might be causing this. Footbag experts are not doctors, and doctors are not footbag experts.
