Which one would you say is better? If you feel generous, tell me how to make it better.

i really like the sense of space and looseness in those kiper ... good job!!

here are a couple of new nature photographs from me in black & white (a generally unexplored medium for me) ... i'd really appreciate any feedback anyone cares to give me on these. i find they have very much the energy of drawings (especially the second one).

first one is called 'dark flow' ...

Image

this second one is called 'spiraling out of darkness' ...

glad you like it jamieson ... i've been delving further into the abstraction of nature, rather than just removing recognisable pieces of nature from their spatial context , and i was particularly happy with that one myself!!

it's actually a 'xanthorea' (common name 'grass tree') ... when the lower fronds die they turn grey and droop before falling. the black background texture is the trunk ... the trunks grow up from the old fronds, and are usually black because they take a long time to grow and have often encountered fires ... i think .

now for some no frills 'common nature photography' ... as well as pushing into abstraction, i have still been snapping away on interesting things around my home and garden ... particularly spiders ...

Image

spider's hook (i found this one quite humorous as well as visually interesting, albeit a little out of focus )

Image

limp new skin (i had literally seconds earlier watched this spider shed its skin ... AMAZING ... it was really limp afterwards and took a few minutes to be able to move its legs again ... with the web out of focal range, it seems as though the spider is floating. i really love the layers of reflected colour in the window behind the spider too.)
