Yo fellas, just wanted to drop a line and say I had an awesome time chilling with you guys all weekend despite the shitty weather friday night and the train mishaps. Hopefully Pete will get past the first line in his write up and mention moms cookies (since you guys inhaled the whole bag haha). Sorry I was way too sore to play Sunday but it had to be done (I'm still too sore to play right now). I'm sure I'll see you guys around sometime.

ok time to start my
NYFA Jam '07 Write-Up
damn that was a good time. yeah, we couldnt get on the right bus leaving OR returning to boston, because they were too full, sure we wandered around downtown NY at like 2 in the morning in occasionally drenching rain friday night, and yeah i may have choked worse in comps than say the cleveland indians this postseason, but damn that was a good time. brian was a fine host, and more importantly, had no problem with us smoking in his house. hoboken turned out to be a nice, toned-down version of NY with about 2 million less people. i think i liked hoboken more than NY, which was exactly how i expected it, loud and overcrowded with doucebags. definitely the low point of the weekend was chris miller trying to convince me that "no one says yamean, its actually 'namean'" yeah, ok, maybe they say namean in Made-up Land, but not anywhere that actually matters
-chillin with will digges. his nickname may be WD-40, but it should be "the fuckin man." because he is. it was cool he brought those shreditas too so the jam wasnt a 100% ham steak platter ("sausage fest" is SO overused)
-meeting, kicking, chilling with pat thompson. also a mad cool dude. his trick selection and my own are like practically identical, but i like his style like 100x more than my own. i kicked pretty bad all weekend except for saturday night, when i did ok. that is due mostly to me and pat co-motivating each other to stretch, relax, and just kick well.
-haha friggin doug. that was hilarious. "what's so funny dank?" "haha its like the cars..." hahahaha. we stayed up way too late friday night laughing our asses off, but it was SO worth it. it was cool to have someone mad chill to travel with.
-the chicken fingers and waffle fries, BOYEEE! that shit was bomb.
-i hung out with clavens a lot more this jam. everything that most people say about him is true. he tried to teach me the magic hop. haha.
-blazing butter b2b. my only real highlight from the weekend. damn i need to start getting serious and drilling.
-gotta say, thanks again brian for letting us crash at your place. you're a mad chill dude, you're apartment is cool, your roommate is cool, i had a lot of fun hanging out with you. and DAMN! you're mom makes some friggin AWESOME chocolate chip cookies. absolutely delicious. i ate about 30. haha.
-hanging out and kicking with jon schneider again. as anyone who knows jon knows, no explanation necessary on that one.
-benny kellman- that dude is so cool. i saw him kick with the younger shredders more than anyone else, and was great with a bunch of little black new york kids that were asking questions as well. in footbag, he defines speed and bag control. seeing him hit atomic gyro mirage was the second coolest move i've ever seen in real life. i was pretty baked, and may have been a little overzealous in my congratulations, but it was mostly deserved. huge move, and he made it look even huger. you're the man benny.
but the absolute best coolest highlight of the weekend was meeting and kicking with sunil. he's a really nice guy, his style is awesome, and he can still hit pretty long strings and definitely HUGE moves. like so many others, i pretty much almost shit myself when i saw him hit clownface. it was so cool, there was a literal roar from behind me as the realization of what i had just seen washed over me. i ran up to him to give him props, and i had to resist the urge to hug him. it was just so damn cool.
so yeah, thats basically the run down. i'll add more if i think of it.

it only hurts to bend my toes so Im up for playing this weekend....
glad you guys had fun....
Oh and there were Train mishaps?! HAHHAAHAHAHAHA
What a surprise
Dank please tell me the train problems weren't as bad as last year...ended up waiting like 3 extra hours in back bay and then went to South station or something because Pete can't read commuter rail schedules.

it was actually more my fault last time than this time. fran, it wasnt because i couldnt read the schedule, it was because i wanted to smoke before we got on the train. but you could have looked at it yourself. taken some measure of responsibility onto those tiny shoulders of yours. but thats all water under the bridge
this time was definitely not my fault.

Ooh, that looks more like a challenge for me Chris. I'll race Pete to it.
Cool write-up Pete, however I gotta say it was slightly your fault this time too.... *cough* arrive 30 minutes early *cough* ....just sayin
Brian, thank you SOOO much. You were a terrific host, and those cookies.... aw man, soooooo ridiculously good.
Lookin forward to this Saturdays session, sounds like it should be a pretty big turnout. In fact I tihnk my friend, Ian should be down from Vermont this weekend as well, so who knows, maybe we'll have enough people for two circles.
Peace

@ Doug - Is Ian still shredding Doug? That'd be sweet if he is. He's a good stitcher and he has solid potential in the footstyles. Anyway it was good to hack with you again. Keep in touch when you're coming back to Rochetaria for Thanksgiving or any other long break. I'll hunt down Ben who's been MIA and make sure he's still alive and then we can shred with the RFA or in syracuse.
@ Pete -
thanks for the nice mention on the write-up. When you and Doug burst into the room on Friday I saw you throw down your things and stand up on the table. I hadn't really gotten a good look at you from your videos but I knew instantly that it was you and I just smiled and nodded. Best entrance of the jam. And I was really impressed with your shred, even though you weren't QUITE up to your usual bag of tricks. Your ability to freeze pdx blenders is just sick dude. I'm gonna have to step up quite a bit till the next time we meet so we can have a few epic shreds. That drill would be perfect for you. I mean technically you're beyond it but I think some toe-to-toe drills never hurt. And I'm going to try it too
.
loong spammy post. Sorry, guys. Sucks i didn't get to see any of the other BSC stylers at the jam, but some other time I'm sure. Later.

I won.
And by that I mean I hit your challenge first Chris.
Anywho, Freakin sick session today with just Pete and me. Fran was gonna come but Idk what happened, guess he had too much work or somethin, hopefully he can play Saturday. Itd be sweet to have 2 whole circles going again.
....haha, wow, Fran just called me as I finished that last paragraph. Crazy.
So yeah, Pete and I were both playin really well today. Pete had some ill highlights that Im sure he'll post later. He was reeeeeeeally close to hitting legover outta toe whirling too, he footed it several times, it was nasty. I started out strong, then took out the camera, and played like shit.
Luckily my bttery died and I started playing really well again.
So yea, I dont remember any specific highlights cept for drifter>rev swirl and drifter>barrage bs, oh and a suuuuuuper clean gyro mirage. I decided to try out gyro clippers today and it sorta clicked on one side so I figured, "meh, i'll try it" and bam! nailed it, felt so good.
I recently watched "The Sickness" shred video put out by Evan Lovely and Im now inspired to get good at spinning/gyro and ducking all cuz of Ricky Moran. First time Id ever seen footage of him, INSANE! I really wish he still played cuz he had mad style.
I normally woulda written this in my own blog but I dont wanna put anything in there til I wrap up my NYC write-up.... and Im lazy so it'll have to wait.
Mad pumped for Saturday
Peace
