i was gonna make this poll ages ago, but i forgot what i was gonna make it on. now i remember
very curious. i consider a seal as simply hitting a single move out of the move im trying to seal. my friend mark was telling me how sealing must mean to hit a move before and after the move youre trying to seal, because...well, it makes very lots of sense. i agree, but decided id keep sealing moves the way i started sealing moves.
Id say into and out of, Cause I can hit something after all of the moves i know (Except Pinch). But I haven't come close to mastering or Sealing any of them.
I figure when you ACTUALLY seal a move, is when you bail to it every time and not have to worry bout screwing it up (Of course me being in 2 add moves, might have a little bit of a different perspective than someone with 5)

Yeah, I'd consider sealing it to be when you don't worry about messing it up. Like a long time ago when I was just kicking pretty much, I sealed toe stalls when no one else who I played with could do them every time...but I never missed one. Right now I'm getting like that with butterfly's, clippers, mirages, and atws. Stuff like symposium mirage still isn't sealed for me yet because I wouldn't be able to try and get it all the time and not really have a chance of not getting it. So to me, sealing a move is when you have the confidence to stick it anywhere and not even consider that you'll miss it.
i don't know on what US site I read it (prolly flipsider) but I'm pretty sure that sealing is accepted as hitting a move of one's level out of 'the' trick to seal. Ex: a guiltless player would have to seal a move with another guiltless trick. As for htting a trick before the trick to seal I'm pretty sure that doesn't add up to much. Everyone has 'easy' tricks that they can use to set something else: like butterfly or pdx mirage for a guiltless player. Just my thoughts.
but the word seal means to actually, like...trap something between other things. a move wouldnt be trapped with a single move after it. thats what my friend was talking about. just a point
also, i dont think i could hit enterrage out of pdx mirage. not yet anyway.
When I was just starting to shred and atw was a hard move for me, I would for example seal a leg over with an atw. If I managed to do atw > lo > atw, my friends and I would call that "stapling" (as in staples, I'm not sure if the spelling is correct) the trick. I think its a pretty good expression and pretty self-explanatory:)
i think hitting "the move" from and into another move is sealing it, because around that time you can do that move good enough to hit it any where ( like with my newly found "smog" i am jsut practicing it right now to get the feel, but soon ill be hitting it out of other stuff, then it will be sealed! )
Seal- 1. v. to show control over a move by either catching, kicking, or hitting another move after landing the original move. 2. v. to intentionally end a string or combo by passing the bag before dropping.
flipsider says it best. i love their definition of giving props!
Props- n. the physical act of acknowledging a player's skill by briefly connecting hands in one or more of various ways, normally following a sick trick, combo, or string. (e.g. high five, low five, and fist-to-fist).
i consider a seal to be a mammal that resides on the coasts of southern california, as well as many other places in the world. They are hunted down by sharks, and like to juggle in the circus.
Chan's oppinion on this one is so good. Sealed, totally surrounded and unable to escape. Requires moves before an after it. If you were a huge move, some little 2 add barriers probably wouldnt hold your powerful self in. This is great!
I beleive hitting a trick/sealing a move/combo is very mysterious. You can seal a toe kick with an inside kick technically. The best thing is to do a phat combo and seal it with a phat trick at the end. Its pretty much the hardest thing to do. It doesn't matter if thier is a trick before it or after or whatever. The cool thing is to do something phat, then when everyone is expecting you to drop or do a less harder move you shock the hell out of everyone with a phat trick after your hein combo. one of The first 6 fives combos ever hit (ryan mulroney), was sealed with a blur as the 7th move. And it looked insanely hard and i Was just like woa he fuckin sealed that shit. (video verification)
