This thread is about 'todays' hip-hop.

There is tons of good oldschool stuff though. Pac, Biggie, Nas, Method Man, A Tribe Called Quest, early Eminem stuff, etc.

I wouldn't consider Eminem "oldschool." Yeah, his earlier stuff was pretty good, but not oldschool, IMO. He's a lyrical genius, despite the fact that his music doesn't have much of a point anymore.

Infinite was very fucking good but i wouldn't call 96 old school. in today's context i would call old school anything pre '92, but who really cares.

i found out about a new Wildchild (of Oxnard/Lootpack fame) lp today. listening to the advance, he got laced on the production (madlib, oh no, black milk, among others) but i think wildchild gets pretty boring as an mc. i'm sure you guys would dig this though.

in case you're not up on the latest pirating techniques (since albumbase got shut down), just do a google blog search for whatever album you're looking for. Works best for recently released shit, but you never know what will turn up.

I don't consider Eminem really oldschool, I just threw him in there because his first three albums are damn good. (though his new stuff is shite)

any one else into spankrock or plastic little? i think these folks are great. And i have to agree, 96 isn't oldschool. to me old school is '89 or earlier. melle mel, GMF, bambatta, kurtis blow, slick rick. that's good listening right there!

Kanyes lyrics don´t impress me. 50 Cent makes Pop-rap nowadays, with nothing to tell in his songs... :?
