8 panel help

hey modified. I'm starting to stitch footbags and starting out with an 8 panel and i just wanted some help on what i should do next.

pictures of where I'm at

should i tie the knots right now and stitch the other half? or keep stitching in white panels between the green ones

i'd knot off then start adding another white panel. do you need to know where to add a white panel?

what kind of template are you using? i looked everywhere but couldn't find an 8 panel template.

yea i know where to add it. my panels are 4.1 cm wide. erik savage linked me to a rounded triangle template and i reduced the size by 25 percent. its basicly a 4 panel with an extra seam going through each panel. making 8 panels. thanks ben zilla

you'd be able to stitch it in anyone of these places.

Could you pm me a copy of the template? or post it here? i tried to make an 8 panel by cutting a 4 panel template in half, but it was too flat.

hey dude your on the right path. next you'll add a white triangle and stitch it to the green having to add one green triangle. hope this makes sense. just remember to do it exactly how you would a 32.

i have made mostly 8-panel bags in my time, but i always make the two separate halves before stitching them together around the middle ... seems to work out just fine to me

making them in this way is probably a big reason why i am still scared to step up to 32/62/92-panel stitching ... yet

also, i never found it necessary to curve the sides of the trianglular panels ... in fact, when i did attempt 8-panel bags with curved panels instead of straight edged, they always seemed mishapen when i finished them, they would kind of bubble out. the act of stitching the panels into a sphere seems to create the curve ... you don't curve the sides of pents and hexes, right!?

alright 1 panel left. all knots tied. then the blind stitch. i know i can do the blind stitch up until the where i have to shove the rest of the string in and tied knots.

the pastern is actually a tad small or perhaps i just stitched too close into the material. i think it'd qualify as a mini size but i'm not sure.

ok so im doing the blind stich and then im up to like the last few stitches to fill the hole and i notice i cant pull it to gether... and then i realize i just cant gather like that because either i did the blind stitch wrong or thats just how it is. ill post pics later but any help would be appreciated

EDIT: ok just noticed i did the blind stitch completeley wrong lol i went in circles around the panels instead of

but now i got panels full of holes hopefully i can find them easy enough to reuse the same holes.

is it weird that theres a working bleed hole in this bag? i gotta find out how i did it lol.

No. I think it's functional to find a bleedhole in 8 and 14 panels. Four panels even. It makes sense when you think of the template as having their ends like the bleedhole section of a hexagon.

The tough part is finding a way to seal that portion if you ever go into the business of making sandbags.
