Yea man, virtual shred, but you buried my post!
Here it is... not pristine anymore though:
Why didnt anyone tell me I was stepping wrong?!?!
Haha, yea so had a solo session tonight and finally realized why my steppin was so inconsistent and unreliable.... I wasnt doing it right, go figure . So before my stepping was mad low mostly cuz I would try and use my setting foot to jummp off the ground simultaneously as the planted foot. Now I realize that Im supposed to just, like, hop with my planted leg up and over the bag. Man it made such a huge difference, I finally hit some stuff that Id been wanting to hit for a while. (Unfortantly I discovered this midway thru the session so hopefully this is just the beginning of stepping highlights)
-ripwalk>whirl>rpt (I always knew this was in reach but could never understand why it was so difficult....)
-butter>blur>rpt>butter>blizzard>rpt (got it 2nd try and dropped on last blizzard, oh ho, this will be complete by next session... i hope)
-"blurry" pickup bsos
-"blurry" osis bsos
-spinning clip>ducking clip>rpt (Kinda a dream sequence, its basic but its the root for really stylie looking runs)
-gyro clip>ducking clip>ducking clip>rpt (this. took. so. long.)
-ducking osis bsos
-pixie ss whirl bs
-pixie op whirl bsos
Really good session which I finished with gyro mirage bsos . I think it was mostly cuz it was one of those solo sessins where prior to playing I was like "Im really in the mood to play footbag AND feel like I can play" Ussually its just the first part while 2nd part is scarce. Ha, if that makes sense, idk, whatever.
So yeah, good session. Oh, and I almost had diving whirl, Id really like to hit that on camera for the christmas calender... despite how "the" it may be.
Peace

ah so you figured out stepping.
lucky.
massive ups for the following, THE TANK:
the blur/blizzard/butter sauced repeated driller tool. Awesome and shows how much control you must have over those tricks now.
ducking osis bsos. Though I'm sure you could've had this a bit ago.
gyro mirage bsos. Always a good feeling to sauce this trick.
good to see you can solo sesh and have the good sense to be critical of your own stuff. Shred > drop > rework > rpt.

Hey thanx guys. Unfortantly I havnt really done much stepping since I practiced it that one day so its still junky, but now I know how to get it under control.
Anywho, so its about 2:50 right now and my plane leaves in about 5.5 hours. I got up about 11:15 this morning due to a phone call from a friend who just had final and wanted some lunch. I brush my teeth, shave and head to the dining hall. We eat, he relaxes before his next exam at 3:30 and then we part ways and I head back to my dorm around 12:30. I figure, "Hmm, I got like 8 hours before my plane, I stil havnt showered... might as well shred!
" Right? Wrong.
So I figured Id drill my basics after reading something Kevin Regamy posted in someone elses blog about hitting all these basics to get a really cool toe game. All the drills were the same but for different components. For example, "5 legovers>5 ss legovers (rpt)." So I figure, "Hmm, I need to up my pixie shuffle, why not try these drills." So I start off with legovers, hit all 20 contacts first try.
Then move on to pickups. Eventually finish that. Then mirages, finally finish that. And now we get to the entire reason why Im even writing this entry.
The next concept I worked on was illusions. Im okay at illusions. I can do them, and their ussually clean.... I think. Anywho, so I get as far as 5 illusions on strong side, then drop on the first ss illusion. I realize "Alright, lets get the hang of flip illusion before going for this" (I can hit flip illusion, I just get lazy and they get sloppy as I keep doing more). So I hit about 4 really clean flip illusions and on the fifth..... Well, Im not really sure. I guess I got lazy and dexed it badly cuz I managed to slam my dexing foot onto the ground (as if Im setting up to hit walkover) and then my support leg kinda landed on top of my dexing foot. Yeah. It literally went "CRACK!"
Im sure a lot of footbaggers have done this before and can relate to it. Needless to say, I freaked. Fell to the ground, got up quickly and sat on my bed and just kinda writhed there in pain for a while. Ive done all I can think of to make sure its not sprained or anything. At first I couldnt put any pressure on it at all but after making myself take a shower I can finally walk on it a little.
I just felt compelled to write this down cuz the only thing I planned to do all break ws play footbag, and ironically I managed to mess up an essential body part for footbag the day I go home to begin vacation.... And this happened due to playing footbag
Ugh. I even had plans to play tomorrow in Syracuse. Now Idk. Im still really compelled to go and maybe just work on my toe game and flip clipper cuz right now I cant bend my right ankle into clipper position without experiencing a wrecking ball of pain.
Blah! And I was just recently working on freaking ankle felxibility too! I was gonna be hitting sole stalls and dragons all over the place, but now.... whatever. I just really hope it heals completely before YEAH 2007. (Everyone go to this!)
Peace

doug, DO ICING SESSIONS. it's important to take care of ankle injuries. 20 minutes on, 10 minutes off ice massage. don't play footbag. wrap it or use a cheap ankle brace from rite aid and take ibuprofen to keep swelling down. The more you can heal, the better. The thing about ankle injuries is, the more you injure your ankles, the more injurable they are. Look at poor vasek this year.
you'll be fine by YEAH. just go easy on it. I've done this exact same injury numerous times.

Hey thanx Matt, thats exactly what I did when I finally got home. Unfortantly I think I made it worse when I was walking around Boston trying to get to the airport. Aw well.
So my ankle is doing a lil better, the swellings gone down a bit so now its only like 1.5 times its normal size, so thats good. Im walking somewhat normally and I have a bit more flexibility. I cant wait til Wednesday or so cuz I think by then it'll be healed enough to at least work on my toe game.... I think. Ugh, I feel so lazy, Ive just been sittin around for the past two days. In that time Ive just surfed modified, listened to music, discovered I still suck at videogames, and done a bit of upper body weight training.... Heh, wouldnt it be cool if I became one of those footbaggers who gets really good and then ends up becoming a bodybuilder.
Hmm, I think Im gonna work on a lot of flip pixie stuff when my ankle is healed enough.
Peace

First session since the injury. Played with Ian. Stuck basically to toe, flip clipper, and predominantly tiltless. Twas great. Er, well, I didnt do anything great, it was just so amazing to finally play again. And with minimal pain.
So yea, its really hard not to utilize strong clipper at all. If you ever watch me play you'll prolly notice that my first clipper move is almost always strong side, which I realized a while back and have been trying to fix recently. But yeah, it was a challenge not using my strong clipper at all.
Ians game looks to be improving since last time I played with him. It started off a lil skecthy but a lil into the session and his game was looking more flowy. He managed nallegam>magellan, which I saw the latter part of, so thats really cool. Even managed fairy ducking, a "fucking set" if you will. Its gonna be great having someone to play with all break and see what kidna progress he makes.
Anywho I played alright too. Managed the "5 trick>5 ss same trick>(rpt)" drill for legovers (first try again
Huuzah! Im back footbag!
Peace

..................
KABOOM!
You know what that is? Thats the sound of a game exploding. My friend Ian's game that is.
We had a 2 man session just now, good 2 hours. I worked pixies, he worked clipper. Needless to say, he had a major breakthrough, from planted toe position to posture. We analyzed every part of his clipper form. At the end he hit 10 strong side clippers and stayed in the exact same spot the entire time. Those were 10 of the best clippers Ive seen him do, it was so awesome to watch. I really wish there was someone better than me there as well to help give tips on his form, mainly cuz Im certainly no expert, but I really think it looks a lot better. Props dude!
I didnt play all that much. Haha. I just really tried to drill flip pixie but could only manage, like, 5 flip magellans in a row. Ugh, Im hoping its mostly due to my injury and the fact that it still kinda hurts to put weight on it. And yes, I know, I shouldnt be playing footbag right now. Thats why Im gonna take a break until.... Hmmm, Tuesday I guess? Footbag can be my own personal Christmas present, thats all I want anyway. Oh, and one cool link I managed was parkwalk>pdx mirage>plo>dimwalk>pdx mirage>plo>plo>drop on smear. Meh, I was satisfied.
Oh, and thanx Chris, I wish I could stay true to my word, unfortantly I didnt hit a single dlo or eggbeater all session.
Ok time for Spot.
Peace

Chris 1 - Im on break until Jan 6. Bleh. Hopefully we can kick at least once more after YEAH.
Chris Deluxe - Hey, now thats a good challenge. In fact, I hit the first 4 contacts of that about 2 hours ago. As soon as my right ankle is fully healed I'll totally seal it.
Hmm, I was gonna put down a few highlights but it seems as though I only have 15 minutes before I have to leave for Macy's. Lame. I guess my favorite highlight was:
spinning clipper>rev swirl>pdx mirage
Oh and I was dam close to pixie gyro mirage.
Peace

YEAH
...the tournament was fluckin awesome.
Anywho, had a session today with Ian. Good 2.5 hours or so. Ian worked flip clipper almost all session, and made a ton of progress with it. His form on clippers is starting to look a lot better now.
I worked on a lot of stuff, too much to actually drill anything. Heres my major highlights:
-osis>(rpt) x 16 (my old record was 5 or something)
-spinning clipper>ripwalk>(rpt)
-pixie ducking clipper bsos, twice (This was at the very end of the session when everything else was too tired to try anything)
-dimwalk>schmoe>(rpt)
-"blurry" osis bsos
-stepping osis bsos
Hmm, it feels like I accomplished a lot more than that. Meh, whatever. Oh, I hit 5 out of 6 contacts of your challenge Chris, magellan>parkwalk>stepping legover (rpt). I plan to work my stepping set a lot now.... Hopefully I stick with that goal.
Peace
