Hmmm now that I think about it, it was more that I wanted to get my flip pixie up to snuff before I start hitting really advanced stuff out of strong pixie. I finally did that last night! Look two posts up (last page 2nd to last post)
Once I'm able to hit PLO > Smear > RPT then I'll go for Phoenix. Hopefully that will be soon.
Solo drill/film session tonight. Stoked.

Flip pix gets really fun when you can smudge>butter>pdx ill>rpt
Oh, and just from the brief comments I've read you haven't hit phoenix? Haha not only does it RULE when you hit it, but when you hit it again it rules even more. Phoenix may be everyone's first 5, but it doesn't make it any less awesome.

Had a really shitty solo session thursday night. My legs hurt and I couldn't do much at all. I did manage one kinda cool highlight on camera:
Butter > Spinning Clipper > PDX Mirage > RPT
Had a filming session this Saturday. The plan was not to have me in the video, but I may be in it after all. My shins still hurt but I couldn't resist the temptation to play a little bit:
Butter > Blur > RPT
Smear BSOS
Diving Mirage > BOP run
Big news was I &%$#in' FINALLY figured out flip diving!. It just clicked and all of a sudden I can do it on command. STOKED!
I hit flip diving clipper probably a dozen times. It just clicked to the point where it's easier than strong diving or flip ducking. BSOS off the foot (strong side miss) several times. I can totally BSOS it now I bet. I tried flip diving mirage a couple times, but no luck. I'm sure I'll get that soon too.
So glad to finally have this concept now

Video forthcoming, Xmas calendar day 15. Don't get your hopes up for anything spectacular though.

My Xmas calendar vid is done. Keep a look out for it on the 15th.
Kinda decent solo session last night. Sets were totally sucking so I just worked on BOPs. Definitely made some progress on osis.
Osis 7, 14, 14
My personal record, twice in a row
toe set Osis > Osis > PDX Mirage > RPT YES! Love that one
Butter > SS Butter > PDX Mirage > RPT x 2
SS Butter > Osis > PDX Mirage > RPT x 2
SS Butter > Osis > RPT
SS Butter > Infinity > Osis > Osis > PDX Mirage > RPT
BOOYAH@!!
Group session tonight. I hope I play well.

Thanks yo. I feel like I've reached a new level of consciousness with osis. I want to be able to get 50 eventually. I think I can do it. I like how it's really clicking lately. Osis feels really good.
The other concept I am totally digging these days is DIVING. Now that I can flip dive... the sky is the limit.
From today's cold ass session
Flip Diving Butterfly (1st time ever) > run > Strong Diving Butterfly > missed a near legover to seal
Ducking PDX Mirage > Butter > PDX Mirage > SS Butter > flip Diving clip > run > strong diving clip. First time diving clip BSOS with a sweet 4 in the seal
Diving osis (flip diving strong osis) footed the other side a couple times.
Footed several times but couldn't quite hit
-Flip diving mirage / pickup
-Zulu Butterfly BS ... any tips for zulu?
EDIT: I want to work on osis > far osis > RPT because Richard Abshire said it's supposed to help with torques. So I am going to work on that more. I tried hitting the combo last session, but far osis is tough to for me... might be the gating concept for torques. Gotta remember to try that next session.

I have these 2 rashes on my face next to my eyes. They are reallly bothering me lately. I need to book an appointment with the dermatologist. Hence the blog title (plus if you listened to Incubus 10 years ago then you might catch on to more). So hopefully I'll get around to booking that appointment soon.
Didn't have a Saturday session. Cody had a final and I had to clean up my place. We ended up actually getting it REALLY clean. It took basically the whole day, but it was worth it. That night we had a holiday get together with some friends, including one I haven't seen in in over a year. We used to be really close friends and I originally moved to Austin in part because of him 3 1/2 years ago and then we drifted apart, so it was good to hangout with him again.
Our trip to Asheville is now almost completely booked, just narrowed it down to these two places. Waiting to hear back from one of them if they can lower their price (always negotiate!).
Boston is on the horizon too, just another month before that.
I had a session last night. MY $&*%ING DOG ATE MY BRAND NEW ZEB JACKSON BAG!!!! THE LITTLE #$&ER!!!!
So I played with my Brian Dennis bag. I had been saving it, but I guess it was time to use it.
Butter > Infinity > DLO > RPT yes
Osis: 7, 10, 12, 10
Toe set osis > Osis > PDX Mirage > RPT
Eggbeater BS ... hello old friend
Infinity > Diving Clip > RPT
new link, hell yes!
Shins are hurting again. I think I went back to butterflies too soon. Time to put the khybosh on them and do just regular clippers, focusing on dexless instead. Need to do 100 clippers each side again and triforce each session.
Poker tonight. Not sure if I'll play again before Wednesday, gotta let the shins heal. Oh hell who am I kidding I'll probably play tonight.
EDIT: Holy crap... reposted from a dog forum I'm on...

Well after that crazy adventure I played some footbag. Luis was back in town, we ended up having a pretty good impromptu 5 man session. I was hitting some good diving stuff, a few spinning clippers. I also hit blur BSOS and I think it might have been the first time I hit flip diving mirage. Also hit a few eggbeaters, good session.Iron Clad Ben wrote:Oh man my hands are almost trembling as I type this.
Every day when I get home from work once it gets dark (which is very soon these days) I take Tuesday for a walk around the local golf course. It's great, it takes 20-40 minutes depending on how fast we go and how much we get side tracked. I can let him off the leash and he can run free. His favorite thing to do is to chase deer. I help him scout them out and then he runs after them. He has a blast and gets totally worn out.
BUT TODAY WE ENCOUNTERED A WOLF. I AM TOTALLY SERIOUS. A WOLF!!!!
It was about 6 feet long and 3 feet high. I saw it and thought "oh #### Tuesday will try to chase after it!!" like he does with everything. And sure enough he did!! I almost lost bladder control. I had a sinking feeling Tuesday was going to get killed by this wolf. Like this would be the last 60 seconds of his life. It was dusk and the wolf probably had an advantage with night vision (I don't know do wolves have night vision?)
Something happened about 15 feet before he got to the wolf. Maybe it snarled, I don't know. But Tuesday got the sense that the wolf was hostile. Instead of going all the way up, Tuesday started barking at it. I have NEVER heard Tuesday bark so loud. Amazingly the wolf started walking away. BUT TUESDAY KEPT CHASING IT!!!
He would stay about 10-20 feet away and kept barking at it! Tuesday was trying to be so brave and tough! The wolf would retreat and we would keep chasing it, maintaining the gap he already had. I kept yelling Tuesday's name, saying "come", "let's get out of here!" but he wouldn't come :scared: :scared: I tried to come grab him but he would run away from me! He kept dodging me!
By this point my heart was beating pretty fast. Considering how dangerous the situation was I was remarkably composed. I could still think rationally. I was trying to think of the best way to end the confrontation. My heart was pounding but my head was calm. That's when things took a turn for the worse...
Tuesday decided to go all the way up to the wolf and maybe bark at it? Attack it? I don't know. But the wolf snarled back and CHASED TUESDAY!@!@!! Tuesday yelped and ran away! The wolf didn't chase him for more than 10 feet luckily. BUT TUESDAY DIDN'T TAKE THE HINT! He went back and tried to do the same thing and the wolf snarled at him again and chased him. I was so scared. This happened probably 3 or 4 times.
I knew that each time the wolf was probably getting more and more aggravated and at any time could just get angry enough to full on attack and bite Tuesday, and that would be the end of my poor boy, and possibly me too. I didn't want to be cowardly but I knew that the only thing that would work at this point would be to start walking away and call Tuesday and hope that he would follow me. It was so nerve-wracking. But after getting about 30 feet away Tuesday started heading my way and the wolf went off the other way. He lapsed a couple times heading towards the wolf, but not for longer than a 2nd or two. At one point he was right by my feet, but I didn't dare grab him just yet. Then he turned around to look at the wolf and WHOOSH!!! I scooped him up into my arms! HE WAS SAFE!!
I didn't want the wolf to smell fear so I calmly walked away at a fast pace. I was worried running might incite the wolf to chase us. He kept walking the other way. THANK GOODNESS. I told Tuesday how mad I was and scared and spanked him. He was trying to be brave and be a hero and be my guard dog. But he's just a puppy he had no idea how foolish he was being. He could have easily been killed if that wolf was hungry or angry.
I am just glad the two of us are OK. I am worried to take him on walks at that golf course again. Thank you if you read all of that. I just had to tell everyone, it was so scary.
P.S. This is the 1st wolf I've seen since I moved to Texas 3 1/2 years ago and the first wolf I've seen at this golf course since I moved to my new place 6 months ago. And that is with taking Tues on this golf course 5-6 times a week.

Just had a great session with Luis tonight. He hit ducking clipper BSOS, gyro clipper BS and rev whirls all over the place. He was attempting lots of spins which really inspired me to try spins. I really got them back good!
Highlights for me:
Clip x 15 > op Clip x 15
Toe set osis > Osis > PDX Mirage > RPT > sealed first try
Gyro Mirage BSOS then next run:
Merkon BSOS
Gyro clip BS, BSOS off the foot
Spinning Clip > gyro clip to end a run
Weaving Clipper!
new trick
Ducking Osis BSOS with an extra flip ducking osis and a diving clipper in the seal
Ripwalk > Ducking Osis 2 for 2 attempts. Wanted to hit PS mirage out of it for my first 4>4>4 but no luck
Blur > Dimwalk > seal with mirage. GRrr another tripless link that must be skooled
A couple good looks at whale tail
Run with Toe DLO BSOS, strong near DLO, drop on flip near DLO
Spinning pdx mirage BS first try
I laid off the butterflies and my shins felt fine. It was a really good session. Luis has leveled up a tons since worlds. His clipper and BOP game are looking as solid as mine. He will get spins down very soon.
Yay out of my minor footbag slump I was in

Modified has gotten pretty boring. I'm at the point where I just want to play. I can't wait to shred with the BSC when I'm up there. I always love shredding with new peeps and feeding off each other's energies. I hope I can make it to lots of tournaments this spring and summer.
Some pictorial goodness for y'all
