Will Jorden Moir replace J. Costilla?

I'm writing an e-mail to the best adress I could find for contacting expert village.

J. Costilla does not represent footbag (or Hacky Sack) accurately. I would like to contact whoever I need to in order to have his videos removed from expertvillage.com. Does it make sense that a clam should teach swimming lessons when there are so many fish to take his place? It is very important to the footbag community (that is most easily contacted via www.modified.in) that you remove these ignorant attempts at expertise. There are many who are willing to replace J. Costilla.

(That's as far as I've got so far)

If nobody more expreienced wants to take his place, I'll do it. I don't know why somebody wouldn't though. You get paid, and it's pretty cool that we might get some more accurate exposure.

If somebody wants to step up to the plate, it will solidify our case. Jorden Moir takes well to the post of teacher, and he is undeniably an expert. He has experience hosting workshops and he has expressed his desire to wake people up to footbag on many occasions. I nominate: Jorden Moir.

I think it's important that somebody takes advantage of this opportunity. Making Good exposure, removing Bad exposure. Two birds with one stone. Jorden? Please?

J. Costilla hardly scrapes the surface of Footbag. If he is being paid as an expert on the topic, you have employed the wrong person for the job.

ok, now for my opinion. honestly, i cant believe expertvillage thinks this is as good as footbag gets. i hope that email works out ben, becasue that is giving footbag a bad name. we need someone like anz to hook up with expertvillage, that would be great. i bet nemesis would make this guys head explode =)

I'm so glad we have SOME motivated peeps like Ben Roscoe to do this...Cuz everytime I watch those vids it's the weekend and the last thing on my mind is writing a formal email lol. But I've honestly thought about it at least 3 times. Especially when he uses a kick instead of a stall during 'drifter'...It's like nails on a chalkboard...

All I can say is go ben go! You might make 300 bucks in the process!! Woot internets!

Damn, if he didn't mention the word footbag it would be sooo awesome.
I believe that there is a significant difference between hacky and footbag.
If that guys is showing hacky its alright with me, but the moment he mentions footbag, damn, I wish could meet this guy somewhere on the street...

I suggest that if Ben Roscoe's email doesn't work, we politely spam the hell out of Expert Village.

I don't blame that guy, I blame Expert Village for hiring someone who knows shit about footbag.

Yeah, spam the hell of of that guy. That's a great way to become a likable and respected community -- NOT.

Most of you spend more time finding negative exposure and protesting it than actually finding ways to gain positive exposure.

I have to disagree with everyone on this. This guy is an inspiration for me, actually. We could all learn a lot from this guy -- and I do NOT mean that as a joke. Let me explain...

Here's a guy that obviously loves what he does. He may not be the most educated but he means well. Instead of sitting back and hoping jobs come to him, he researches the internet and finds a suitable outlet to perform and teach. Mr. Costilla then follows through with this pursuit, obviously maintaining a positive relation with Expert Village. He then does his thing and gets rewarded for his efforts. And why shouldn't he? EV doesn't know any better. Props to him for getting paid through footbag, even with a fraction of the skill most of us have!

Also, read his move descriptions. They are very down to earth and he doesn't come off as a hardcore intimidating athlete. "Cool tricks to show your friends" is how he words it -- and that'll get way more views and interest than our "BLOW THE UNIVERSE AWAY WITH IMPOSSIBLE TRICKS!!!!" philosophy.

Long story short, I like this guy. He showed initiative and good business sense. He also appeals and connects well with most of the Hacky slackers out there. He looks casual and confident. Come to think of it -- isn't this stuff what most of us have trouble with?

Seriously, are the 10 people that will study these vids and learn all his tricks really that important to us? Do you think it could be jealousy above all else?

Am I gonna contact EV? Undecided. I could use the money.

Advice/flames?

I like your sig Jorden. And your take. You're probably right on this one, and without a doubt you speak from experience. Thanks for putting this into perspective. I think the "down to earth speak versus athletic vernacular" I question, as it pertains to the individual that stumbles across it, but I agree that his effort does help sport by exposure.

Edit: Now that I'm reading Jorden's post, my opinion has kind of changed about it. I agree with him for the most part. He's not feeding his info to people that want to seriously freestyle, he's just feeding info to people that want to know how to hacky sack. At least its a lead in the right direction. No publicity is bad publicity? It's not like everyone who sees those videos is going to want to be an elite freestyle footbagger anytime soon, but who knows. I'm kinda split. I kinda think someone better should be showing some freestyle, but that's just me. Nothing big, just like basic tiltless and stuff. Idk.

All in all, I'm just really confused how he learned about footbag, the add system and everything, but still managed to mutilate everything. How did this happen? Case in point: Drifter being a 3 add, then then going on to call it a merging clipper and doing a completely different move. The overswoop?

Its just strange...

Ive been watching all the videos this guy made, and there are some that actually make sense, like his breathing and relaxation videos. I think everyone knows that the best way to play is in a zen sort of state, so him making a video to help with breathing and what not seems reasonable. I give him props for making so many freakin vids on the sport and how to play "Hacky Sack with friends" and not footbag. He may mention the word, but he never says anything about freestyle, though he does mention adds. Anyway, he's doing his thing, so cool for him.

(edit) Nevermind, he does mention freestyle... I'm wondering what his sources are, probably footbag.com
