Ok I just bought a home theatre projector last month. Its probably my best purchase ever. It blasts a 100+ inch high def picture against my living room wall and is crazy for games, movies, and sports.
Today another one arrived for free!!!! I am not a thief but I want to keep it as long as they dont catch on that they sent an extra one
???
If I bought it from a large company I would definitely keep it. However since I rarely shop at large stores, I'd almost certainly return it to whatever expensive and shitty local independent place I got it from.
I would check your bank statement first and make sure they didn't charge you for it. If they didn't then definitely sell it. it's not like they could prove you received it. even if they went to UPS to confirm that it was delivered, someone could have snatched it off your doorstep....
c'mon, that is the type of thing us lower-middle-classers dream about!

petes got it right... or just buy a crapload of foobags and give them out at the next tourney you go to... youd be everyoens favorite shredder. lets do the math...
1000 bucks/ 30 dollars per footbag= 33 footbags. that would be epic. but yeah, IFPA would love to have some underthetable financing, for sure.
I would return it immediately. But thats just me, selling it seems like an incredibly impulsive thing to do, unless you keep it for a year, and if you don't hear anything from them, then your ok. But otherwise, i would give it back.
who cares about profiting from mistakes ? The company that makes the device profits from the misery of the global community.
The most important thing is to make sure you don't have to buy the machine twice, and only end up with one machine. Wait long enough to ensure they aren't coming to pick up the mistake.
Yeah well that's why I said earlier that whether I returned it or not would depend on who I bought it from. While the company making it may be a company I dislike, if I bought such a device from a local independent store, I'd definitely return it immediately.
If it were me, I'd hook both up to my computer and have duel projector screens. That way it would be easy to return if they asked for it. That's if I kept it, and I'm not sure if I would.
I bought it from a big internet retailer. I checked my account and it doesnt show anything. BUT- at the top of my account page it says my account with them will determine whether I get to heaven or not?
I will hold off for now, I just heard others got this steal from woot.com. Someone may be fired over this. If they ask I will be honest but Im not calling them.
It is legal for me to keep it. Moral? but I can compare it to all the late bank and credit card fees and added interest kind of crap places have done to me and this would help equal it out. - Btw youre crazy if you think im donating it to footbag, I have bills to pay!
Sooner or later these guys will figure out they made the error and come looking for their extra $1000 device. It may be next week, it may be months from now. But I'm sure their systems will figure out the mistake before long.
Speaking from experience, when I was 15 or so the bank made an $80 error in my favor. I was delighted! I immediately went and spent the money on CDs and dungeons and dragons stuff. Could you blame me? I was 15 and $80 falling out of the sky was about a weekend's pay at my pizza place job. They ended up figuring out that they made the error 2 weeks later and told me I needed to give them the money back. That sucked, but I should have seen it coming and been honest in the first place. Of course a bank is going to figure out a mistake they made eventually.
