This is a Public Service Announcement. Save your money, this was hands down the worst movie I have ever seen and I have seen plenty. The only good part was when the batshit insane religious lady got what was coming to her.

I thought the Mist was awesome. I wont ruin the ending...but it was one of the coolest endings in any movie....EVER

there was also some lame liberal political subtext about "the politics of fear" that i could have done without.

The end was so ridiculously predictable. I don't want to post any spoilers in case people choose to ignore my warnings and waste their money, but there was basically only one path the story line could go down. I literally was sitting their next to my friend telling her exactly what was going to happen (because the movie was so bad, don't label me as movie talker guy). It could have saved face if it was actually scary, but it really was just kinda comical.

I bet you saw the ending to The Village from a mile away as well?

Haha are you serious? I bet anyone with half a brain could predict the ending once they make a run for the car and he says, "Lets see how far it'll take us."

Whatever your take on the movie is, you cannot deny that it was not scary in the slightest, the characters were mostly just annoying, and the plot was one dimensional and had no point.

True it wasnt scary but i still liked it. And no i had no idea that the ending would be like that. Especially after the lame 1408 ending.

Are we talking about the same movie? How could anybody possibly predict the twist at the end? It comes completely out of the blue, and it's the only significant deviation from the novella. It's not like predicting the end to The Sixth Sense where there are actually clues and in hindsight you can see. It's a completely random development. If you did predict the ending then it must have been good luck.

While I agree that it's not the greatest movie ever made, The Mist is one of Stephen King's few great pieces of work, in my opinion, and since I love the story so much, I loved the movie. Definitely biased though.

Probably not "worth" reading in the way War and Peace is worth reading (not that I have

) but it's an enjoyable read. It's in his collection of short stories "Nightmares and Dreamscapes[/i] which is probably his second best collection of short stories (after Nightshift). I much prefer his shorter work to his longer work, but it has to be said that 90% of his work is just rubbish. Still there are some good gems, and I enjoy most of his short stories.
