Hey Josh, i watched your video.

I think you should keep away from big tricks and combos, and work on the base of your game. Every run that wasn't fearless, or some planned combo was sloppy and out of control. You could really benefit from some BOP schooling, and control of your sets. You definitely shouldn't be working on fearless. You were saying you are having trouble with your flipside on Anssi's training program, right?

Try completing his training program. get your flipside up to speed with your strong side, schol your basics, quit trying big moves and combos. You could get really good, but the way you are training is hindering you.

I school BOP's everytime I play, if I'm having a training session or a shred session with the crew. I drill BOP with both Pdx Mirage's and Pdx Illusion's.

Really the only problem I was having with his training program was my flip barfly's, seeing as they have reverted back to nothing.

The basic's are my warm-up. I go through and do Mirage > Ss Mirage > Rpt, Illusion > Ss Illusion > rpt, Mirage > Lo > rpt, Mirage > Pick-up > rpt, Illusion > Lo > Rpt, Illusion > Pick-up > rpt, Clipper bs, Bubba bs, Near Mirage bs, Clip set Near Lo bs and Clip set Near Pick-up bs.

For this video I was just having my usual shred session, and taping them. Sure I got a little carried away with certain combos, but that's what I did.

Is my game really that sloppy? Do I really suck that bad?

Does my game appear to be sloppy because it looks as if my sets are a little out of control?

I'm still sick, but I got bored and decided to kick for a little while. I know, I shouldn't have, but hell, I did!

Highlights;
Plo b2b quite a few times, starting from both sides!
Fairy lo b2b a few times, starting from both sides!
Merkon > Plo bs
Spinning osis b2b
Spin clip > Spin osis > rpt
Swirling osis, not new but I haven't done it in awhile
Swirling Whirl, new, probably a little the
Hip high set Swirl, basically Full Downtime Swirl
Blur sauce
Worked on Pdx Blenders, came close to sauce!
Flip Spin Whirl, dropped on Strong in the seal

I think I made some progress on my Pixies today! They seem to fluctuate alot, kinda like my flip Fairy. Came close to saucing Magellan again, which would be kool. Then maybe I can start doing some drills like; Smear > Plo > rpt and Magellan > Plo > rpt.

Also worked alot on control, since that's what I'm guessing is my sloppyness according to Henry. I didn't really move around alot, except on a couple of my spins. Alot of my sets were really controlled and precise and were I wanted them. Hopefully my next vid will showcase more control, for Henry, and more toe moves, for Andrew. I also worked on not relying on my strong osis as much, I used my weak osis quite abit, Pdx Mirage/Illusion and Infinity, for Andrew as well. But don't expect another vid soon. I want to get over whatever the hell I have first, then I'll start to work on a better vid then my Christmas vid. It'll probably have alot less fearless too, besides for the occasional mid-string/run one.

G'night footyland!

Josh,

Great vid! I finally had time to watch it. IMHO, your not sloppy. Yes, sometimes your set get away from you a bit as does mine but you don't move around that much. I have noticed most footbaggers move around and some more then others, even the pros. I think when your game matures then your 2 add tricks, BOP, and string length will get better as it has already since the first time we started to kick. Just keep practicing and we will get better! Then you can control that bag and not have to bag control you. It just takes time. Everyone learns at a different pace and have a different style. Obviously you learn faster then me. :lol: As you can tell with your game. anyway...

Keep up the good work! happy holidays my friend! Take care!
later,
Mike Jauss
-almost guiltless-
-more fiber = longer runs!

I think that Henry's advice/observations are on the mark. It's never easy to hear criticism of your game, but when it's given honestly and with the intention of helping you, it's usually beneficial to take it. Nobody is saying you suck; they are just pointing out ways you can tighten things up.

I hope we can play soon. Mike proposed a bunch of possible dates and they all work for me. Merry xmas and shred with you soon.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the feedback on my game.

Mike and Ken, I'm always down to go down to Tucson. I have Fridays off this coming up semester, so a friday trip would be best!

Had my first session in forever! Man, being sick really sucks everything out of you. This is a control session. I'm gonna work on the control of all my sets, and hopefully it'll help my game not be sloppy.

Highlight's;
Warm-up drill, all Mirage's and Illusion's, bs, near and pdx
Symp Mirage > (Ss Symp Mirage > Ss Symp Mirage b2b2b2b)
BOP Training; (Starting from Toe) Op Butter > Infinity > Osis > Infinity b2b > Osis > rpt x 5
Op Butter > Infinty > Osis > Pdx Mirage > rpt > Op Butter > Infinity > Pdx Illusion > rpt
Step Clip > Blurry Clip > rpt > Side > Rip > rpt
Whirl > Side > Infinty > rpt
Whirl > Step Whirl > Infinty > rpt footed, I want this DAMNIT!!!!
Whirl > Gyro Clip > rpt
Rip > Pdx Blender bsos, First time for Pdx Blender to be sauced!
Toe Torque > Torque bsos
Blurry Whirl and Pdx Torque Bsos same string!

That's where I quit! That last run was really controlled! I hardly moved and I put my sets where I wanted them! Too bad being sick SUCKS!!!! I can hardly breath now, and I'm coughing more than I have at all today. Ohh well, I probably won't kick till we go down to Tucson to kick with Ken. Maybe I can finally finish that bag for my girl :roll: :oops: . We'll see, good kicking everyone and have a happy new year!

Ken, I'm feeling alot better than I did!

Had a session today. Was too bored and my legs were itchin' to kick!

Highlight's;
Normal Warm-up
BOP training
Whirl > Whirling Swirl > run
Ripstein
Dimwalk bsos
Fairy Beater bsos
Fairy Ss Mirage b2b > run
Torque > Zoom clip > run > Torque > Zoom clip > run
Gyro clip, Spin clip, Spin Osis all bsos
Gyno
Gyro Whirl
Symp Bubba, mid-run first try, sealed with Pdx Flail > hand catch

Flip pixie was giving me fits. Flip fairy, had a couple sets that I could've ducked! Strong pixie was ok. Strong fairy hurts :cry: I don't know why, but it does. But I still can do it mid-run without any pain. Almost had Flip Ripped mid-run, same with Flip Blurry Whirl!

Other than that, it was a good session! Talk to y'all later, keep kickin footybag land!

It's been awhile since I've blogged and kicked. I've been kinda just slumming around modified, and posting help and or my opinion every now and then.

It kinda sucks right now, the Unity Crew might not be able to kick with Ken :cry: . Mike decided to take as much OT has he could so, now we have to decided if we want too, and if Blake or Conrad would be willing to drive down there Saturday the 12th. Hopefully we can.

Here's today's session. It was ok. Actually it was pretty fun seeing as I haven't kicked in awhile.

Highlights;

A tilt run with bsos Mirage, Near Mirage, Illusion, Bubba, Pdx Mirage, Pixie, Fairy and one Blizzard, footed the other to end the run, doh!
A kool run > Peaking Clip b2b2b > Gyno > Blur > run; first time stepping out of Gyno!
Again, mid-run Gyno > Blur, just to make sure it wasn't a fluke
Fairy Same Mirage > Tap > rpt > Side > Rip > rpt
Pixie Same Mirage b2b > run > Fairy Same Mirage b2b > run with Rip, Spin Clip and Blurry Osis > Far Osis all bsos
Spin Clip > Spin Osis > rpt
Spin Clip x2 > Spin Osis > Spin Clip x1, it was going good till that last set

Had to take a break to eat. Back from eating;

Tons and tons of kicking. Toe, inside, outside. Tons of going back and fourth and just runs of one or the other.
Spin Whirl > Rip > Ss Butter > Blurry Whirl > Dyno > Torque > Rip > Pdx Torque > Ss Butter > Pdx Torque > Pdx Mirage > Ss Butter > Blurry Whirling drop, I was really close to hitting it!
Torque > Whirling Swirl, felt like fun!
Matador > Rip > Footing Flip Matador
Flip Matador > Stepping, I was so off balance I couldn't do anything with the set
Flip Matador > Dyno > Infinity > Rip > Matador
Spin Pdx Mirage > Atom, wanted bsos, but not even close

Kinda worked on a routine. Maybe somebody should post a topic on how to build a routine. Because I really have no clue on what I'm doing! Ohh well. I'll learn how eventually.

So yeah, I still have a week off of school, and I'm ready to go back. I'm bored as hell here at home. One thing I know I'm excited for, besides for school to start, is the Net Tournament that going down the weekend of the 19th. It's gonna be sweet!

Until I kick again.

Night footyland!

Had a couple of sessions this past week. For the most part working my toe game, which sucks! My pixies work whenever they want to, but atleast my flip fairy is getting stronger! I've started working on hitting it mid-string out of stepping ss lo. Hasn't exactly worked, but there's hope! Strong fairy is slowly getting back to where it was. Still can't duck it on command like I use too :cry: .

The Unity Crew wasn't able to go down to Tucson to kick with Ken S. while he was down :cry: . Which kinda sucks! Ken is so much fun to kick with, plus it seems like I learn something new from him everytime we do kick. Maybe next time we'll be able to Ken! If there's a next time.

Upcoming news;

This comeing weekend is the Phoenix Open. And, no, not the big golf tournament. But it's a big net tourny, that's gonna happen, an I'm gonna go! My first tourny! But it's not a freestyle tourny :cry: . Ohh well. Big Add Chad's gonna be here, and so is Mirken. So maybe we all can kick :wink: . That'd be sweet.

Here's some highlights from today's session;

Swifter, footed flip, damnit
Whirling Swirl, the easiest one I've ever hit was in there with the 30 other one's I hit.
Far Symple Swirl bsos
Infinity Swirl, yay! Footed flip :cry:
Blurry Whirl b2b, footed :cry:
Mobius > Far Symple Swirl, YAY! I've like this combo since that one DC vid!
Spining Whirl bsos, might've been a lil ugly
Smear > Fear > Plo > r.p...... drop, I was like 8O when I pixied (weak) out of plo good enough to do Smear, but I messed up on Smear :cry:
Flip Smudge
Flip Fudge
*EDIT* Almost forgot this triples combo that I thought was pretty stylee!
Gyro Whirl > DDD > Dyno > Rip > Rip > Torque > Pdx Drifting Drop *EDIT*
*EDIT* Forgot a new move that I hit, Rev Whirling Swirl, almost bsos. This seems more hit-able on flip than Whirling Swirl. Interesting! *EDIT*

My toe game was kinda bleh today. But hey, I can't expect it to always do what I want :cry:

I should post a pic of the Tulip and White bag that I stitched awhile back and show how well it has broken in. I'll do that later tonight.

Till later tonight, peace footy baggers!

This past weekend was GREAT!!! It was the Phoenix Open Net Tourny! Now I bet you're wondering, "Why did a freestyler go to a net tournament?" Well, I'll tell you. I wanted to learn how to play net, and, and, get in a little freestyle with one of the all time greats in freestyle! It was sweet! I met Big Add Chad D, aka Hollywood. He's was a great influence when I first started to freestyle, and I got to meet him and kick with him!

Him and his net partner, that drove in from L.A. are both great guys! And boy are they funny! Chad's net partner is Sam Gregory. Ohh man was this weekend fun. They started the weekend by getting lost in Cave Creek! An hour north of where everybody else was :lol: When we finally got them down to where we were, Mike and I had gotten Jeremy Mirken and his net partner Mike Mcarthy from the airport. We met Chad and Sam at a Village Inn and we all ate, seeing as they didn't have much to eat on there way to Phx.

After we all ate, we went back to Mike's, who so ever humbly let us crash there. We all stayed up playing pool, and having a good time! We did that both nights. We all had a ball together! Chad and Sam are good guys, and I'm glad to know them. Iron Maiden ROCKS!!!!! *Head Banging emoticon*

I learned alot about net both days that I was there. Mike and I kicked for the most part on Saturday. I learned how to serve, which still needs alot of work :roll: , and how to set the bag and get it over the net, lol. Then we all freestyled, Mike, Chad and Myself. On Sunday is where I got alot more practice playing net! I warmed up by myself by kicking a net bag, that's hard work! Then I went over and played 2 on 1 with Chad and Sam. That was alot of fun, then Rod, another Net player that I met, joined in and we played a "doubles" match. We really didn't play, it was like a warm-up game for the three of them cause they were competing. I watched all of Chad's and Sam's match's. Then I got in on a couple of pick-up games, then we freestyled. I got some footage that I put on my laptop, but I haven't looked at it yet cause of school.

After freestyle, Chad and Sam had one more match, and they beat the other team! It was kool. Then There was 4 games after that. Sam and myself as a team, I don't remember if we won the first or second game. But then we played RPS to see who would partner up with Chad for the next game. I won, and Chad and I ended up winning that game! My first win on a net field! Wooo! Then we played Walt and Ben, 2 kool guys from Memphis, and got crushed :lol: But it was still fun!

Had a mini session last night, the night to do Chad D combo's;
Magellan b2b, first time, first try! This was hit on Saturday!
Gyro Whirl bsos
Pdx Whirl b2b, quite a few times
Barfly > Blurry Whirl
Spin Clip > Spin Osis > Pdx Whirl bs
Side > Infinity rpt > Step Clip > infinty rpt > Rip b2b > run with Spin Osis bsos
Dod, Barfly and DDD all in one run

Drill session;
Mirage > Ss Mirage rpt, 8 contacts
Illusion > Ss Illusion rpt, 8 contacts
Legover > Legover rpt, 16 contacts
Pickup > Pickup rpt, 116 contacts
Mirage > Legover rpt, 20 contacts
Mirage > Pickup rpt, 20 contacts
Illusion > Legover rpt, 8 contacts
Illusion > Pickup rpt, 8 contacts
Ss Clip > Far Lo rpt, 8 contacts
Ss Clip > Far Pickup rpt, 8 contacts
Side x2 > Ripwalk rpt, 6 contacts
Step Clip x2 > Blurry Clip rpt, 6 contacts
Whirl > Rip rpt, 4 contacts
Rev. Whirl > Blurry Clip rpt, 4 contacts
Spinning Clip x6 Bs
Gyro Clip x6
Whirl War 1, 4 contacts
Rev Whirl War 1, 4 contacts
PLo b2b
Fairy Lo b2b
Tap > Atom, bs

That's all. I used my brand new Abshire Fearless 55 Facile to do all of these, and let me tell you, it was a PAIN in THE ASS to do! But I did it, some of them took more than one try, other's didn't. I was going to go shower, but it's too late too. I'll post a pic of both of my Fealess 55's, one Facile and one Amarretta tomorrow. And boy are they sweet bags! I'll also post my Yellow and White prototype that's turning out GREAT!

Later....

It was nice to meet you, and glad to hear that another freestyler has seen the light :lol: , or at least understands why I can love net like I do. Maybe we can kick some freestyle the next time that we meet. Are you thinking about attending the "SoCali Jam"? I might go to that one . . .

Jeremy, It was alot of fun to meet you. And thanks for the help on my serve! I wish I could make it to So Cali, but it's not gonna happen.

I've been doing these online sessions through ustream.tv lately. I think I've done 3 total, and that's all the footbag I've done since my drilling session after Phx Open.

Lot's of things was hit, lot's of challenges thrown my way, and lot's of help. Today I had an epic 2 hour session. It felt great! I have done a solo sesh for that long for I don't know how long! I'll throw down some highlight's that I remember from tonight and the past couple of sessions. I'll also put who challenged me, if it was a challenge.

Highlight's;
Rubberman > Side > Step Ss Clip > Rip > Rpt > Run
Pdx Tapping Pickup > Toe Drifter, bs, Zac
Matador > Blurriest, footed
Torque > Rip > Rpt, Zac
Some really good 20 contact runs, Henry
Sumo > Atomic Drifter, footed who know's how many times
Toe Drifter > Spin Clip > Blurry Lo > Rpt, Zac
20 Sit-ups, Zac
10 Push-ups, Zac & Eoghan
Whirl x2(3) > Drifter > Rpt, Henry, kept footing the last drifter
Pdx Torque > Blender, Zac
Pdx Torque > Symp Torque, EOS of first online session. Everyone
Ripstein, Zac
Drifter > Swirl > Rpt, Zac, damn flip swirl never wanted to work
Infinity > Ss Butter x20, Zac, got 21
Whirl > Duck Clip > Rpt, Henry
Lot's of Pdx Whirls b2b
Pdx Whirl > Barfly > Pdx Whirl > Pdx Whirl
Ps Mirage > Op Symp Rev. Whirl, BSOS, Zac
Dada > Dada > run
Vortex, Sauce
Mobius, Sauce
Symple Eggplant, Ben, First time hitting Symple Lo!
Atomic Flail, Footed

If I remember some more, I'll either edit it in, or make a new post. It's time for a hot shower!

Just had a live session with Zeb and Zac Jackson! It was ok. I just wanted to play, and I think I warmed up to quickly, and not fully. Hit some ok runs, and a couple of nice drills.

Highlight's;
Rubberman, twice
Toe Drifter > DLO rpt, first time in awhile
A couple of 15+ contact runs.
Swirling Gyro Clip, off of my foot!
Rev-Up, new, Rev Swirling Pickup, quite a few time's, didn't think it was that easy!
A run with Pdx Whirl > Pdx DLO bsos!
Merlin off of my foot a million times, and a few good looks on flip
Ducking Clip > Diving Clip rpt
Side > Step Clip > Blurry Clip rpt
Toe Whirl > Pdx Mirage/Blur rpt
Gyro DLO bsos, Flip is new!
Tomahawk > Pdx DLO footed
Symp Smear
A run with Dyno > Infninty > Rip rpt and Blender > Ripwalk > Infninty rpt
Spinning Osis > Torque > Drifter, felt really fun
Blurry Whirl bsos quite a few times
Side > Blurry Whirl > Ss Butter > Side > Blurry Whirl > run, Flip BW mid-run!

That's all I can remember! My Amarretta Fearless 55 is PERFECT!!!! I love shredding with that bag! It's so buttery!! The Facile Fearless is turning out great too. I just need to kick it a lil more, and another wash and it should be a lot like my prototype in softness and stall-ness. Which reminds me, I'm gonna warm-down right now with just kicking it. Then I'm gonna shower and get some stuff done.

Later footyland!

Well, I've kinda started to "cross train" now. The last couple of sunday's I've been shooting some hoops with my gf and couple other of our friends. And lately I've wanted to play more. So today I went out and shot hoops and ran around for probably a good 40 min's. I'm getting my shot's back, 8) :D , and I'm slowly getting my hops back too. I nearly dunked it twice on my 10 ft rim 8O My legs feel really good right now, for playing in jeans. I can kinda feel a slight burn in my quads and it feels relatively good! I'll probably start doing this, 2 maybe 3 times a week and the other days I'll try to shred. Maybe this will help strengthen my legs some more, and help my stamina :P . Time to cool off and get something to eat.

Later fellow footbagger's and basketballer's!

P.S. I forgot to mention, I found me a pair of Nb 1010's that should do really really good for net! Thanks Jeremy for the shoe recomendation's. Hopefully I'll be getting them for my Birthday!

Had a couple of sessions recently. One was a broadcast over the interwebz and the other was a regular solo.

Highlights;
9 contacts of Rubberman, once over the interwebz, and once today.
Toe Whirl > Stepping Ss Osis > Whirl bsos with Legbeater > Blur and Ripwalk bsos
Swirl > Far Symple Swirl bs, footed bsos
Strong Whirl was feeling really good today. I was getting some really fast dex's, if I kick again tonight I might try Whirr on that side, then maybe I'll also try for strong Whirr again.

Things I might try;
Tapping Muted DLO
Full Sidewalk, bs
Flip Symple Swirl
Rev Swirling DLO, just for fun :wink:

Supper is about ready, I don't know if I'll broadcast tonight or not. To broadcast or not to broadcast? That is the question!
