Depends. I think long sessions are really helpful, especially if you're kicking with other players. If you're soloing, it's a different story of course. One hour soloing each and every day, with basic kicks and easy drill sessions, are good imo. Going beyond that would be overdoing it.

Although, it is weird for me to say this, since it takes a long time for me to fully warm up my body for footbag. Every person's chemistry is different in each and every way.

lol. Did you sing the word injury or just emphasize it? If you sung that is soooo awesome.

Yep, it takes me a long time to warm up too. And not only do I not have anything better to do, ever, but I usually have long(er) sessions anyways. I don't shred for like 3 complete hours nonstop though, haha. Plus I sometimes make it like two sessions a day that add up to a lot of time.

edit: I should add that I count the workout I do after shredding I count as part of my session.

To play better on March first than I did in early 2004. I'm at the beginning of some surgery induced downtime right now.

Rubberman this summer.

Actually, fuck these forecasting type goals. How the hell should I know how well I'll progress, I've got nothing to measure it against. My only two goals are to stick to the playing schedule I've created and to stay healthy. If I manage those, I'll be twice the player I ever was by the start of summer.

some olympic athletes train for 7 to 9 hours a day, 6 days a week & remain perfectly healthy.

higher training regimens require a higher lifestyle dedication, however. training longer & harder without proper attention to diet, supplementation & down time IS asking for injury.

goals for 2008:

- embrace the social aspects of the sport more openly
- boost creativity
- dial every component

I'm bumping this now. These were my resolutions:

 Play 3 or 4 times a week during the rest of the winter (done)
 Put Dat's advice to use while refining my basics (done)
 Drill BOPs (done - well I'll continue to drill them but I did drill BOPs)
 Go guiltless (done)
 attend an event outside of Chicago (attended a Jam at UIUC - that counts, right?)

Edit - also this:
 spend less time on Modified (failure)

Good call nathan.. I never did set myself a reminder to bump this thread, so I'm glad you did.

Looking back, I was way too optimistic last year with my goals. Then again, I would also say I accomplished a ton this year. So, shoot for the stars, and if you just miss, you still did well?

Last year I wrote (and this year's comments are in bold):
Basically, continue a year's worth of doing what I've been doing for the past 3 months. (ACCOMPLISHED) Specifically: Good posture (CHECK), good balance (CHECK), completely flipsided (WAY IMPROVED, BUT NOT ACHIEVED COMPLETELY), reach my weight goals to help me with all these things (CHECK).

To add some detail, I want these concepts dialed: stepping (Almost CHECK), atomic (NOPE, but improved), pixie (almost CHECK), spinning (ehhhh, improved), ducking/diving (CHECK), double dexes both directions (I mean single leg double dexes) (1/2 CHECK), great fundamental components (mirage, legover, illusion, pickup) (CHECK except illusions which I am not interested in learning). I guess I'll throw "behind my back" concepts in too (osis (CHECK), torque (1/2 CHECK) etc.) along with whirl as a concept (much improved).

Ha ha.. I guess I should have just said "I'll get good at everything" (Well, I got a ton better at everything, so I made positive progress)

And, I'd definitely like to learn how to stitch, but that might wait until 2009. (Good job at not doing this in 2008 as you planned! ha ha)

Wow I've hardly met any of my resolutions...

Complete all my current challenges - FAIL - The whole challenges system didn't really motivate me.
Become strong guiltless - FAIL - I didn't realize how optimistic this is. At least I became very strong tiltless!
Do a triple dex - CHECK! - pixie dlo, yay :)
Complete the stitching of at least one playable bag - TOTAL FAIL - I didn't even complete one bag, playable or not. It's so BORING!
Attend worlds - CHECK
Win Israeli 2008 championships - will be next month, so TBA.
Introduce to footbag someone who will make the above goal hard to reach - FAIL. Will be hard to reach because Josh may compete (MarvlMan) and he's better than me, but he introduced me to footbag, not the other way around.

2 out of 6, and one hanging in the balance. I must've failed worst than anyone here!

Wow, cool bump. I went back to the first page hoping I'd posted resolutions, and was surprised to see I didn't. :?

I also found it funny that I forgot I created this thread.

-Play more footbag.
-Bsos everything to the finest detail.
-Learn stepping and quantum; learn to love them.
-Go guiltless.
-Hit 15 contacts, then 20, then 30, and escalate that number more and more.
-Hit a rubberman (wish me luck), then blubberman (wish me even more luck).
-Play very, very carefully so that I don't sprain any more ankles.
-Stitch more bags.
-Host more stitching tutorials in every tournament I go to.
-Make plans to travel Europe, making Worlds '08 in Prague my final destination.
-Make girls love the sport of footbag.
I'm on my last semester of college, and I have played more footbag than I ever had in the past few years. My flip clipper has gotten more consistent, but I still have trouble bsosing osii well. I have quantum, stepping and wanton on one side; I still need to work on my stepping set more on both sides. It's fun working on guiltless strings, but I'm pretty much still a tiltless player. Reached 19 contacts maximum. Still got to break 20. Haven't hit a rubberman or blubberman yet. I'm playing more carefully and concise and it has done wonders for my form. I stitched more bags, but I still have to juggle this with my studies. I didn't really do any stitching tutorials at tournaments. Missed this year's World's and I didn't travel around Europe. :( And...

I totally got more girls interested in freestyle footbag. 8) I didn't hook up with anyone, though, but that's alright. :)
