I remember talking to Honza at 03 or 04 worlds, and he was telling me how he was all excited to be at worlds in 02, it being his first worlds, that he played a ton in circles and ended up being tired by the time comp rolled around. Disappointed with his performance in comp, he made a point not to make the same mistake at subsequent worlds.

Honestly, it all depends on what's important to you. Do you go to worlds with the hope of making it onto a video? If you are a good player who goes to many tournaments, appears on many videos, and puts out vids of yourself, then you may have less incentive to play in circles at Worlds than somebody who doesn't fit that criteria. Do you go to worlds with the goal of playing with other high level players, because you lack high level players in your area? Then you will probably play more somebody who gets to play with high level players in their hometown or at tournies. Do you go to worlds with the hope and realistic expectation that you can stand on the podium? Then you might not want to wear out your legs playing all week.

In Vasek and Honza's cases, I can see them looking at the risk/reward equation and figuring it isn't worth it to play in circles during the week. 5 years from now people will have forgotten most of what was hit during casual play, but taking gold/silver/bronze at Worlds is something that goes down in the books; its something you can tell your family, friends, and eventually children about.

I think this is an even bigger factor when the stakes are high. I didn't make routine finals, but when I learned that I made Shred30 finals I tried to save my legs for that one day, even though it wasn't that important to me. Imagine if you made finals of the MAIN event at worlds. That much more pressure, that much more glory, and ultimately that much more imbalance in the risk/reward equation.

Practicing productively and regularly is a skill in itself. Experiment and make observations on your practice habits and methodology, the same way you would for hack.

oh my god. that is extremely embarrassing. Hollister is the only place i can go where i find myself saying "you know, if i took this whole place down in flames, no one would care, or miss the people who died."

so good luck!

So I finally got my shoulder checked out. There isn't any broken bones or loose bones or anything. It was something I forget the name of that causes pain and causes my shoulder to pop when I move it in a certain position. SO they decided to make me wear a sling for a week and I'm taking some pills called "Methylprednisolone" which is basically a steroid to heal my shoulder. I think all this happened due to my footbag style. I really really need to rework it so it doesn't hurt my body. I think I might try to start over with everything. rework all of my basic stalls, all of my basic tiltless, all the way to the level I am now. I think if I actually go with this I could actually get better and my string length will improve and everything will be better.

I'm almost 18 now... It feels really weird.... I'm almost out of highschool and I'm going to go to collage and try and become a teacher.... It seems like it was so long ago I thought about it, but the time is almost here. It seems to soon. Whatever lol I bet it will be awesome to be out of highschool and get on with my life.

I wouldn't sweat college. Sometimes it seems like a joke, other time it still feels like high school...but with more alcohol, apartments, and sex. The maturity level of people really doesn't budge any. Just make sure you go somewhere with footbaggers.

I have to disagree with that one.

Heal up, Kyle.
