The Crib seems like it's a Laver clone. Pretty cool. It looks a little bit bulkier than the Rod Laver, so I guess it has some functions like the G-unit? It could work, and its $15.

I think the black, white and beige Cribs look seriously hot.
The toe looks weird to me for some reason.
Anyway, I think I have a store that sells this brand near my house. I'll scout for these shoes.

Okay, I checked it out. Here's my critique on the Cribs:
So, I went to the Manhattan Mall that has a 'Steve & Bary' store inside, which provides the Crib shoe. I immediately went into the shoe section, spotted the shoes with hawk-like instincts and precision, and inspected it immediately.
A worker of the store came over, and I flooded him with questions about the shoe!
Smallest size available is men's size 6; largest is a 13 or 14. There are no versions of this shoe available in women's sizes.
Having known that the majority of footbaggers would look into the black shoe, I inspected that first. It felt weird, especially in the case of the leather. It felt pretty soft and not at all durable, like the G-units. It felt like... pleather? The white and beige ones felt a bit better, but I wasn't very impressed on how they were, model-wise.
The toe box looks fairly rectangular; reminiscent of how boots look like, especially in the smallest size. Not that that is anything bad, as the toe walls looked fairly small as well. A decent lace job can work with this shoe, though visually it would look a bit weirder when compared to Lavers. The inside, however, looks horrible. The model of the sole is like the Rod Laver, except the inside is curved inward to a much steeper degree. This would seriously distort clipper sets. It just feels like you'll need to crank a bit more, or apply a clipper rail just to make this shoe work.
Additionally, about the inside, modding the shoe seems a bit weird. The fabric under the inside looks fairly strong, like leather Lavers. I took a look at the stitches running across the body of that area and they felt secure. So, those who like to have a larger inside when modding their leather shred shoes won't find comfort with this. Of course, you can always compromise; I'm just saying that the mods could look pretty ugly in the end. The sole of shoe doesn't actually line up with the inside to form a flat clipper surface. It didn't line up comfortably like the G-unit or leather Rod Lavers, but the clipper area, with the softeness of the shoe did provide a comfortable crank. It felt like I was wearing a cheap leather glove.
This is a good thing. Still, sets from this surface can be rather distorted.
The sole and insole felt a bit springy. When I walked in them, the shoe's sole just felt very soft in a way. They also felt lighter than Rod Lavers and Quantums. The traction is reminiscent, again, of the Rod Laver shoe with some variation of the traction grooves. The traction and lightness felt pretty good, I guess, but considering how soft the sole is it just might die within a few sessions.
It's definitely a Laver clone (in the bad sense). The model for this shoe is just a tad bit bulkier in a way. The tongue of the shoe was considerably larger than expected, as though they were Nastase Milleniums. There seemed to be barely any padding on the tongue, or to be more precise: there was plenty of leftover space. I don't know if there are any comfortable mods for this area. The shoe's structure puts a lot of emphasis above the heel and ankle support area, since this was the area that seemed to portrude outward (nothing like the slender structure in Lavers). The ankle support felt a bit higher than that of Rod Lavers or Quantums.
I mean, I guess I can buy these shoes for fashion. Nothing really, really struck me about these shoes that they can be used for footbag, imo. I wasn't very impressed. Still, around $15? Any beginner could probably grab these shoes and find something good in them.

Ugh, Waylon, can't you just get to the point without blathering on about nothingness? I feel like you spent alot of time talking about the shoe without actually saying anything. Frustratingly, fumblingly verbose.
I appreciate your efforts but I feel like all you really had to say (and all you did say in the end) was that it's like a chunky laver and the inside is sloped at a bad angle.
I am trying really hard to just be honest here, I don't want to hurt your feelings.
The few important details of a shoe can be plucked out at first glance. Is the toe a viable surface? What shape is the inside? The real crucial part there is the angle of the instep at the edge of the sole.
To say that a shoe is basically like a laver, which is to say very much like a shoe we could use for footbag, and then to say that nothing about them struck you as useful for footbag and THEN to say that a beginner could grab them and find something good in them. What the shit? Which is it??
Man, can someone just buy me a pair in size 6.5 and send them to me? I will chop them up and review them proper.
I didn't mean to bust your balls so hard waylon, sometimes you have a way of pushing my irk buttons. I appreciate your efforts so far, I really don't mean to discourage.

No, it's fine Tom. I just have a way of typing BS over and over. I have a hard time getting my point across in a way, like it's not informative enough for people without taking a look at them first hand physically. I just thought this shoe showed some qualities that were necessary to note when considering several critiques that most players look into for a shred shoe.
But I guess it didn't work here. It looks like what I wrote fell into some monstrous jarble.
If you want, I can send you a pair at the moment, and you can give a more indepth critique on this shoe. What do you say? PM me about it.

i bought basketball and work shoes from the "starbury" line. they were $9 each. i looked at the cribs. Too heavy, too bulky, too cheap. sole doesn't flex, instep and toe look fine actually, but who knows what's under the pleather.
final thoughts?
