I've made it through "they're hammer ons" once on through the fire and flames.

You guys seen this? The youtube videos are pretty ridiculous. so is getting so good at guitar hero that you can 100% the jordan solos.
But, I suppose, as everyone here understands very well, we all have our niche.
PS I'm not so good. I cant even beat GH3 on hard.

There is a band on GH3 called Lions with a song called "Metal Heavy Lady". They are from Austin, and my favorite band here. I've been to probably 20 of their shows over the past couple years, great group of guys.
The song they have on GH3 isn't actually all that great IMO. Check out some better songs from them on their myspace

Both of their CDs are self-recorded and self-produced in a room above the bar where one of the guys in the band works. They have no label, no agent, no nothing, they are entirely grass roots and self made.
Anyway there is a GH3 tournament in town tomorrow night and Lions will be performing, I'm totally stoked! I've never actually gotten to play any of the GH games, I really want to try them though.

Same here! because he does.flockpocken wrote:tell him he has jesus powers for me plz.Switch Kicker wrote:One of them, Josh, can do Jordan on Expert.
I was one of those friends lol. I can beat every song on GH 1 and 2 on expert except Jordan and six I think. Beat Free Bird First try was kind of a let down. I thought Hangar 18 was the hardest to beat.duffelbag wrote:I love this game! Last semester my friends and I played this game everyday. We got to the point where we have both guitar hero 1&2 beaten on expert, 5 starss.
I need to get my hands on GHIII for the Wii seeing as I don't have the money for another console+game.

Too bad I'm having difficulties installing it. Anyone know how to fix/get the missing "MSVCR71.dll"? Plus it keeps saying it's not a proper Win32 application.
The frets on fire wiki is a good spot for information. I have the rock meter and jurgen power all working and shit, it's just a good as GH now.
I just got 78% on Through the fire at a friends house. I don't even own a guitar or the game, yet I seem to get better by playing FoF a lot. I hold a couple records on the world charts for FoF. I beat some guy out by 100 points on Muse - Plug in Baby, FC'd it and just must have held the notes a smidge longer than him.

I just got Guitar Hero 3.
The battles are cool, except... my whammy bar is broken... so, like... the second battle(?) with Slash was near-impossible, because he would earn whammy power-ups, and pelt them at me! This battle took me, like, 3 hours to beat, because I had to get practically 100% accuracy, PLUS time my attacks just before he could pick up his power-ups (and memorize when he usually attacked with the whammy-attack). As soon as I was hit with the whammy attack, I'd have to hit pause and reset the song immediately... Geeeez. I was so happy to finally beat it and get to continue playing!!
The songs are better overall in Guitar Hero 3, than #2, I feel. One is my favourite Metallica song. I like some of the classics too, like Paint it Black, and Welcome to the Jungle, and there was another rad one. I'm not awesome like everyone seems to be, but I like to play.

Rock band for xbox 360 is awesome. They update the songs every week if you have live, the vocals are great entertainment at parties (esp watching drunk people), and the drums are sweet. I think the music selection is much better than guitar hero (I only have guitar hero 2 and rock the 80s fwiw). I've only played rockband for a few hours but I'm hooked.
I play on medium.
I'm trying to learn hard, but I started with poor form (just strumming down, and not back and forth -- this made faster songs super hard). Plus I never needed hammer-ons and pull-offs before, but after redoing the tutourial, I understand them and will try to practice them on harder songs (I get why the notes glow now too... I don't think they really explained that in the tutourial -- I guess it's supposed to be sensical to figure out on your own).
Anyway.
I fixed my whammy bar!!
If anybody needs help, I found this wicked tutourial: http://forum.guitarherogame.com/Default ... sts&t=5164
My guitar is a BIT different, because it is a different brand (Nyko), but it's basically the same. I also only needed to replace the elastic as it turns out. But the tutourial says that most of the time it's a little piece of plastic that breaks off, and I guess it tells you how to deal with that.
I'm so happy!

I just 5 stared all the expert songs and if anyone else is thinking of attempting this feat for the unlockable guitar alone, DON'T BOTHER... the only cool guitars are buyable. However I do recommend accomplishing it for bragging rights.
and muffin don't worry about alt picking, I only alt pick on like ten songs and only on certain sections( even on expert) I would suggest going straight in to hard, or expert which is the most fun, and just learning alt pick when necessary.
This game is awesome but here are the two things I would change for GH4.
1 guitar straps! enough of this floating guitar BS, let us buy/unlock some different guitar straps.
and more importantly
2 since they "opened" the windows for when you can hit the note why not make it so different guitars have different windows for different attacks. ie a shred guitar for easy HOPO'S, an acoustic for easy chords, or a choice gibson/strat for easy super-fast string of notes. that way when you 5 star all of expert you can unlock a 2by4 with shoelaces on it where the windows have to be EXACT! thad be bomb!
and for any guitar playing haters out there, i must say this game has not only added to my set list but it has changed the way I approach some of my impovisations and made me appreciate some different genres of music. Also, some of these songs took me like 2 mins to master on a real guitar while the expret level is so FREEKIN hard and I doubt I'll ever 100% over half of these things. I'm defianatly a fan of this game. On a similar note I hear Rockband's set list blows GH of of the water. thats all good but the difficulty is way down, and thats why I play, in any case I hope Rockband makes GH step it up a notch before they put out part for, hopefully their developers check out hackysack forums for my suggestions
