1) I appreciated the post because it informed me of an influential era of footbag that I missed out on on my turn of the century footbag hiatus.

2) I really like the quantum style. Can't say I've ever seen those those links executed with such good form.

Your still doing a pretty good job of being the man. Thanks for the vid.

Poor you, 56,000 views and over 1400 replies in your blog. I'm shooting for my 9th consecutive post in my blog without a reply. ha ha

Loved the vid. I am not the one to give you advice at this point, so I'll skip kicking advice and ask for video changes.. Can you give some slo mo of some of the bigger tricks and links in the future? You're going so freaking fast I would enjoy seeing some of it a little more clearly after the fact.

I love how your spinning looks. So sharp.
Also I like how your shuffle parts just flows, almost no repeated tricks and no drills just a bunch of shuffle tricks. Looks way cooler.

Many times I don't reply because it makes me feel stalkerish. But worry not, we're reading.

Dave, you've got more views and replies in your blog than almost anyone else on here I believe.

Your game is amazing, and I loved the video, you still never cease to amaze me.

Yo Dave, I read the post but I didn't feel like I could relate to it, hence me not posting. It was a cool read though, thanks for posting.

Also I haven't watched the vid yet but I'm sure it will be good.

edit: Quantums eh? ;)

Nem>superfly bsos was tight. I liked the beginning of the string that had Genesis and Whirlwalk in it.

I read your blog, just don't comment.

I learned all the 2's and bops from flipsider. It was the foundation of my game. It will be missed.

Vid was really good. Your toe game looks different (not bad) in quantums. The Vegas crew likes your Laver shred the best.

Keep training dude.

That run to the Moby song where he's like, "Oh Baby", over and over, it sounded more like, "All day", and you were shredding a really long run :D I really liked the superfly > symp flurry BSOS. And there was a string of hard moves near the end that was really original, and I completely lost track of what moves they were...

Ask and you shall receive, huh?

Read and really enjoyed your post on flipsider. I never payed all that much attention to the flipsider forum when it was on the go... Too overrun with kids your age, y'know? Loved the site though.

About the vid, well, this is a golden age of footbag, really, right now. The best players in the world posting raw footage? Hearing the feet is half the point for me, so I've loved the recent stuff from each of you guys. Your big circular downtime swirls make me really happy.

Do you think you can do a blazing (in?)spinning p mirage without planting the blazing/miraging leg? Spin the the direction that makes the blazing leg the p mirage leg. I dunno how we name blazing spinning stuff... has any of it been done at all? I'm pretty sure this is unreasonably hard.

Dave, your post on Flipsider's demise could have been in the New York Times. Props on the writing skills, and on giving Flipsider the testament that it deserves, well stated and accurate, imo.

Perhaps my taste in footbag styles isn't as refined as some, but I never really notice a difference in peoples games between different shoes. I can see what you mean though with regard to the aesthetic of big puffy looking shoes vs. slimmer less noticeable shoes. However, I tend to prefer the less noticeable shoe look to the big puffy look. It just seems weird that people with such big puffy things on their feet can be moving so fast, y'know? I guess I'm into a more streamlined effect.

Sick video. My favorite parts are where you do easier tricks, like the string where you went back and forth with pdx whirl>pdx whirl>barfly>drifter>far swirl>drifter>pdx whirl... I think it's cause I can relate to it more and I'm not just sitting there like "dear lord this is insane". It's cool seeing someone as good as you just chill out and hit flawless genuine 3s and 4s.

Shiz, thanks for all the replies guys. Really cool to see some of the thoughts on the shoes, style, etc. I was really happy someone said it looks like I'm getting better, because I really doubt that every time I play. But thanks.

I watched Sam's Worship The Sack again today. I kind of look like a dick in some of my parts in that video. I'd like to think it was my overall disgruntled feeling with the tournament and not being able to play? I'm not sure. I feel like I've typed this somewhere before.

So this past week in the world of Clavens was really low, and then pretty rocking, then some crap. Goes along with the whole roller coaster thing from a few pages back. Anyway, the really low was because of a girl, which is a dumb reason to get down, but I was pretty into this one. It got better over the weekend, some parties, some magic, really solid.

I went to a magic lecture on a Saturday night. This would be worth a "nerd!" comment, but I then went out to a party after, so the two negate themselves. Anyway, it was a guy named Fielding West who opened for Lance Burton and stuff and he's pretty famous. He did some tricks, showed how they were done, really neat. He works with doves which is pretty cool, never really knew how to get them popping out of your jacket and stuff. He didn't do any card stuff, which is basically my interest, so that was a bummer. Above all though he had a great personality which is truly the key to good magic. Being convincing, acting, you know.

So after the lecture I went to an apartment party downtown with some friends. Lots of people, probably about 60, wall to wall, that whole rub up against someone to get anywhere thing. It kinda sucked at first until I sat down next to my friend who was playing on the electric guitar. This was in some kid's bedroom, so there was only me and my friend in the room. Some girls came in, asked me if I played (note: guitar playing = sexy) and I said no. What did I say I did instead? No, not hacky sack my loyal friends.

I told them I did card tricks and took the deck out I had on me. Now, these girls were tipsy but they were also very bubbly personalities to begin with. So when I turned the chicks card from blue to red she nearly shat herself. After we cleaned up the couch some people started to notice the reactions I was getting and came in the room. Or maybe they just heard the yelling and wanted to make it 1 in every 6 women instead of 5.

So I've got like 5 people now watching, going through my standard shit, some stuff off the DVD's cale mccoy gave me after NYJ, and some really bad card tricks that only work when you think 2 fingers are 3. So my trick base was basically all shot but the crowd kept refreshing, so I just did the same shit over and over and just asked different people to pick cards.

Before long I had a solid 10 people watching all the time, girls begging me to pick a card, and the hosts of the party slapping me on the back thanking me for the entertainment. Plus, my one friend knows how to guess cards, so I would yell across the room to him and he'd tell girls what they were holding. That really stumps them.

So that night was a success until later that night, which I won't go into because it was stupid and probably my fault. Score!

Anyway, I have to wake up early as shit tomorrow so I'm going to bed. Later.

Great post on the last page, Dave. I actually remember starting footbag at almost exactly the same time as you and all of those memories are so fresh in my mind. Flipsider was definately one of my favorite sites and I remember how I'd be mesmorized by videos for hours, showing them to my friends and then being annoyed when they didn't agree with how awesome it was. Pretty sad that flipsider is done; Ellis is truely a great guy for doing as much as he has for us and hasn't gotten nearly enough back from us hackers (imo).

I just watched that video, and WOW. I have to say your style looks more relaxed and flows better in the quantums and some of those links are just redonkulous. I'm a regular reader of the blog as well so don't feel like your posts aren't being heard by the community cause they're not. You always have some good insight whether it be about hack or not and it makes for an interesting read. Keep it up!

that is EXACTLY how i felt at chicago. like i was happy because i was at a tournament but i just felt...slightly irritable pretty much the whole time, especially when i wasnt like doing anything but watching people, with the thought of not being able to kick with all these people/show off the skillets.

Good shred David. The spinning PS whirls are smooth.
First think about how to practice or don't bother practicing.
