hey so have you guys seen our video? It's hella cool.

If I had feathers they'd be all puffed out because people think I have nice style. I honestly never knew what I look like when I play until now and it's pretty interesting, as I've said. People never really say anything. Some people might say I do toe stalls/flicks cool. And someone once said I'm going to look like Nick Landes one day. I don't see it now, but maybe back then I did.

and to be honest this video is more showing me just chillin with the bag and BOPing with some failed attempts at what I do every day when I play. IE toe shuffle and stepping. Stepping was really really off that day when Ben and I played. He can attest to that. And if something doesn't feel right I just don't do it, especially when there's a camera watching me. So I just did what I knew would look kind of cool. I wanted to keep the bag up.

So if that gave the impression that I've been playing for almost 3 and a half years and I can't break free of BOPing then I'm kind of embarrassed. I know I should be better. I don't attack nearly as much as I should, as Dave has made clear in his comments and in person. I'm working on that. The video didn't really show that, though. I'm blaming really myself for that.

What can ya do? PLAY FOOTBAG! THAT"S WHAT!

and that's what I plan on doing after my last class and getting some books at the bookstore for the semester. I'm pretty excited about this semester.
 I've got a bunch of nice non-major fulfilling easy courses
 a few new wii and DS games to play
 I brought Risk and Axis and Allies (board games)
 a whole semester starting off where I already have a bunch of good and nerdy friends for me to hang out with and be weird.
 a whole new set of tasks to work at with footbag before the summer sessions with Ben and Rob. I'm really looking forward to hitting the gym. AND WINTERS ON THE DOWNSWING!

so all in all it's looking up. Feelin' pretty good about most things.

hey john! I'm a bit out of the way to make a trip to king's ton since I'm at school in Albany. But you'd better believe I'm more than happy (and plan to) make a couple trips up there this summer and beyond.

are you and the rest of the militants making it for GRASS? Iz gunna be there.

 looks like Ben downloaded footbag utility. I know. I was messing around with it for a while last night.

this is a sick song. It's kind of proto punk. LEGEND!!! Listen to it. If you appreciate lyrics and old in your face delivery, this is a must view. Thanks

Cool song dude, Ive been listenin to a lot o older skool punk shizz lately like sex pistols, exploited, agent orange, etc. Also Lou Reed and Vevelt Underground stuff, that mellow jazz. But uh feel free to send me a list of some other punk bands or somethin.... I mean if you get the chance, or have nothin better to do or anything...

Anywho, sweet video with you and Ben man. When I first saw it was 11 minutes I thought it would be crazy long but everytime I watch it, it goes by really fast. :o So yea, keep up the laid back shred yo.

Peace

well you put me on the spot so I can't think of anything you probably don't already know. The exploited are funny, though. I don't like them for one thing though - they totally gave rise to the belief that "real punks" should wear chains and have liberty spikes and mohawks or something. It's a whole break away of "elitist" people who enjoy listening to themselves make fun of other people and bash their fists into their skulls.

.. but at least they're kind of loyal to their fans.

I find the Sex Pistols were better at being interviewed than playing punk. Listening to Glen Matlock and John Lydon just sit in a comfy talk show chair or be interviewed by a british guy in a suit is just really funny to me. They were just really miserable human beings. Not sure if I'd like to meet Lydon in person. He seems like nothing makes him happy. Even when he was 19.

The Underground are good of what I've heard. Need to get more stuff. And more Crass. I keep meeting people who've memorized all these old Crass songs and the lyrics are really good. And the lead singer's name is Steve Ignorant so uh. Yeah that can't hurt either.

for the past year or so I've wanted to make a tshirt that said The Illusionist or I Play Footbag. . . My idea was that I'd just buy a plain tshirt and just write it on with a sharpie but um. . yeah your way works too I guess.

arg. . trying to cut back on posts in my own blog (but you guys can still post  ) .. but I just had to post some highlights from a way too short session today:
 pixie ss clip > ducking butter > ripwalk > ripwalk > ducking butter > ripwalk ripwalk > hand catch.
 spinning ps mirage  forgot I hadn't hit that yet. Almost got it flip
 footed flip reaper . gyarg. I suck.
 pimpy DLO
 ss symp mirage b2b and repeated 3 times. First time really ever doing them back to back. Not bad in my opinion.
 lots of tweaking the way I set the bag when I begin strings and set both pixies (which, as it turns out, are pretty distinct unfortunately)
 three vortexes on my flip
 the best amadeus I've ever hit. Reeeeal clean.

what I'm working on -
 Having a bouncier style. i.e.; magic hopping more with clippers and playing on my toes more while BOPing. This is really hard and I'm having a difficult time with it for a number of reasons I don't feel like getting into right now. Let's just say I screwed up a little when I found the style I have now about a year and a half ago (or was it in Ireland. . .) and now I find I'm pretty fixed into some awkward style habits. Any opinion on this if you've seen the video with me and Ben is greatly appreciated. People say I have good style, I appreciate that, but I didn't like the way I did some things. Please critique in this blog.
 Flip same leg double dexing still
 some more involved, intense runs involving things like barfly, vortex, torque, and quantum. I have a few surprises I'm working on (some breakthroughs, if you will) recently (yesterday) and I won't write them here yet because I'm afraid people might think I'm lying.

alright well this was way too long. And this will hopefully be my last self-broadcasting post for a few days at least. I'd like to move back to giving maybe a weekly update on where I am. . or whatever else I want to post since I seem to be posting more and more and none of it really makes all that much sense. So yeah, if people could respond to a few things mentioned that'd be sweet.

kachhhk.

i dont think its embarrassing that you hadn't hit spining ps mirage, that's sick!

pimpy DLO! woo!

im glad you're making adjustments, thats cool.

im glad you're magic hoping...its funny to think about. You would look like your actually trying. i mean thats a cool thing about your style but at the same time it looks really lazy.

i was thinking about flipside double dexing and it seems like i would be able to do it so easily. i coudlnt stop thinking about it. i think it was the last thing i thought about before i fell asleep. i love going to sleep thinking about footbag.

i really think you should be doing atomic shuffling in strings along with stepping and pixie. quantum is your choice if your ready.

i wont think your lying.

i have something like that too except im afraid people will hate on me for hitting it. alright fine, pdx torque. but i wasnt drilling it i swear!!! i tried about five times and hit it on the fifth then went back to drilling 2 adders.

nice shoes ;)

i posted mine in my blog too.

did you order yours?

8-10 days! woo!

8O :x I is injur'd . . . I think. Woke up today and had sharp pain on my knee cap on one side of it. Hurts to touch. Walking isn't bad. I can bend it. It isn't swollen. This sucks quite a bit. I was really looking forward to playing today. I'm scared to death of getting fluid in my knee. It happened to a friend of mine playing rugby and things like that are the stuff of footbag nightmares. I don't think it's fluid, though. It's probably just how hard and long I was dancing last night - lots of Russian crouching leg thrusts (you know the kind). So it's probably just sore. I hope.

shred's going well. I'll give some highlights in a couple days

ahh!

be careful!

that is a nightmare. sometimes i forget that injuries can put you out of commision for a while.

I get pains like that a lot but they seem to be temporary.

just be careful, walking on it may help. depending on what it is.
