Do you know that you are doing an "in-spin" or an "in-gyro" spin instead of a backspin? Pretty much everyone in freestyle agrees that backspinning (spinning with your back exposed to the bag) is much easier than inspinning. You will likely have more immediate success with backspinning moves.
Also, if you continue doing the inspining style, try to catch the bag on the opposite clipper foot instead of the toe.
Keep practicing those components!

Yay! So I've been missing footbag...haven't played since like the beginning of November I think??? And after posting all of my videos, Ben was giving me some advice, then I was kidding around and asked for advice on how to play more often. He told me to schedule specific times no matter what. So I looked at my school calendar and noticed that I never have work due on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Wait a minute...its Tuesday...haha! Oh well. Anyways, I have been thinking about trying to play on those days...maybe ask my godmother if I could go over her house and borrow her basement while she watches Kayleigh, since it is too cold to take Kayleigh outside with me. She likes to watch her and kind of complains to my mom how she doesn't get to watch her so often. So there we go. I just gotta call her up. Anyways, it dawned on me that I could also try to play non-jumping footbag in the house after I get Kayleigh to bed, and that's what I just got done doing.
I kicked a little bit, worked on different stalls, worked on different (d)atws, worked on swirls, all that fun, non-jumping stuff so that I don't fall through the floor or wake the kid up. I really focused on the datws, trying to get an uptime dex as Ben advised me. I didn't hit either side, but I almost hit flipside, which I haven't hit since before I had Kayleigh. Guess what else I worked on...reverse swirls! OOOH. And I hit them each side. Yay! Ashley had me try them out for my first time down in Florida. No success there. Haha. But this was the first time trying them since then, and I hit them! I love it when my tummy is all cold from working out...
Oh. You know that piggy-back ride video I made? It has over 700 views. Wow. I wonder how it is getting around.
Hope to be writing about footbag soon!
EDIT: Oh yeah, I momentarily worked on spinning, trying to figure out which spin was easier. Backspinning is definitely easier...

I played again today...same stuff as yesterday. This time I hit both datws and another set of rev. swirls. You guys have any non-jumping tips I could work on?
Oh. It's kind of jumping, but I tried ripwalk for the first time ever. Trying to be quiet, I almost hit it. I don't think I was stepping right. I kept not planting my first dexing foot. But that might have been cuz I was trying to be quiet. We'll see how that goes outside.
Two days in a row!

Do you mean moves with low-impact, or "no"-impact that you can do late at night and not bother people? And or not hurt your legs?
I like to do "plantless" alternating clippers. It's super fun, styley, and simple. It's kind of what I'm starting with, since I have to be light and slow on my feet, with fucked up legs. You basically set the bag and instead of hop-planting, or planting fast, you plant at the same speed that you would if you were taking a step forward to walk (slow -- so you can cushion like crazy); you just put your foot down and prepare for the clipper stall.

There you go. That's about all I will post from that session. I'm not real big on letting the internet seeing me half-naked.
Erik, I meant low-impact, if any impact, just to keep quiet at night. I have been doing atw, clipper, osis, far legover drills. That's about all I can think of.

I just got done buying the Ripwalk/ Grounds DVD, a Zebrahead DVD, and a Tsunami Bomb CD. Ripwalk/ Grounds because Elis is cool, and I like to support big footbag names when I can. Zebrahead because I have a Tsunami Bomb DVD that I have been watching during my last two sessions. I saw that the same record company sold a DVD for them on the slip inside the Tsunami Bomb case. And Tsunami Bomb because my burnt CD I made of them died, and I miss them dearly. I probably shouldn't have done all this, but oh well.

Thanks for the replies people! I'm loving this. I just had an awesome session tonight...listened to the S&M Metallica CDs while watching X Games. Sometimes I wonder where I'd be if I never moved. I used to snowboard every day it snowed up in Pa and was working on getting air on the half pipe when I made it to the slopes. I miss it dearly. Anyways. I worked on consecutives and hitting tricks more than just once and move on. My consecutive kicks are getting better, but I can do way better. I did like 60 or 80-some toe stalls. Then I did legovers. I hit some one at a time and then like 4 in a row. I hit atws each way, each leg atleast 5 times in a row. I hit atleast five swirls, each leg, and two of them had to be in a row without resting my foot or anything. Hmm...I hit two strongside datws. My strongside is getting great. I footed a lot of them and stuff. No flipsides today. Close but no. I swear the bag was going through my foot a bunch of times. I hit reverse swirls twice on each side. I hit dragon stalls and sole stalls twice on each side. I hit a strongside clipper>dragon stall>clipper>sole stall>clipper string. My flipside needs more work. I worked on osi btb. I could not get past 5, and I wanted atleast 6. I kept almost running into things. One time I was like bam, bam, bam, bam, HELLO ENTERTAINMENT CENTER ABOUT TO CRACK MY FOREHEAD OPEN! Haha. I eventually hit my 6 in a row. Ohhhh, then I was working on like toe stall>clipper>far legover stuff, and out of nowhere I hit toe stall>same (foot) clipper>far lo>opp clipper>far lo>same clipper>osis or something like that. I was shocked and just kept randomly going. Then I was thinking about hitting swirl>osis rpt. I was waiting for my Clover song to come on, but it never did, and my legs were feeling close to Jell-o by now, so I turned it on myself. I worked on the osis>swirl combo to it. I hit osis>swirl each side...and swirl>osis...I got my footbag high and started getting excited about cool combos I could work on and get good at while I continue my non-jumping sessions. Oh yeah! Erik, I tried those "walking" clippers. It took a minute to get into the groove, but I ended up stopping at like 4 btb. So yeah...cool session. I'm excited to keep on doing this.
I'm thinking about possibly getting a routine ready to maybe try at GRASS??? I am probably pretty able to make it. I hate to say I will and never go. I do that all the time, and I hate it. But that would be cool.
On a non-footbag note, on my way home from work/ picking up Kayleigh today, my CD batteries happened to die, and I put the radio on to hear, "Oh blah blah blah blah blah...the haze in the valley (Teays Valley, WV...where I am living)...911 people are calling chemical plants in the area to make sure none have chemical leaks...if you feel distressed in anyway, stay inside and call 911 if anything gets worse..." And I look up and see the haze in the sky. How re-assuring. No one still has any idea what it is. They think it has something to do with the melted snow???
Okay. I'm off to get a shower.

Wow, from that long post it sounds like you're having a great footbag high. I hope you can keep playing a bunch. And way to go with the legovers and everything else.
Good luck with the haze in the sky... that sounds really freaky.

Not so good with the legovers tonight. Blah. Oh, and the haze was just a scare. I think it was something to do with melted snow and the cold front trapping it down low and the sun changing its colors??? But, uh...so I played more footbag today. Nothing too special. I still can't get my osis>swirl repeat down. I hit toe stall>clip>far lo>clip>pickup both sides, not one string. I hit flip datw again. I realized how much the little hop helps. Hit strongside datw, too. I meant to hit more each side but forgot. I tried more walking-style btb clippers...came up with an idea...worked on dragon stalls and sole stalls...came up with more ideas. I won't say what yet. Maybe I can surprise you people on video. I wonder if anyone has hit this stuff... Um, I tried out in to out datws. I have some motion down. Oh...what is gyro? I've always liked that concept and would like to do it. Is it inspinning without planting the foot? That kind of dawned on me while I tried spinning. Ha. When I was working on a spin, I pulled a Bevier and accidentally stalled the bag on my elbow with the rest of my arm hanging...except I didn't do the little robot move.
Then I worked on ducking and diving toe stalls. I hit diving alternating toe stalls. It reminded me of the pink breast cancer ribbons. Fun fun! Oh, and I did all this to my new Zebrahead video. That thing made me feel like I was in concert with them. I wish I was, but I was singing along, waving my arms or whatever you wanna call it...bouncing softly. Ha. I got real into it. And that Ali dude is so hot, especially when he took his shirt off.

Wanna hear something you will hear for the onlyth time??? Today at work I got a bread splinter. Yeah. I tossed the baked bread that I didn't need back onto the pan, and my hand rubbed against it as I brought my hand down, and a sharp piece of crispy bread gave me a splinter. Haha. I think my body ate it, cuz it doesn't hurt anymore and disappeared.

I played again today. I'm staying pretty consistent with my last sessions. BUT. I hit strongside DATW two times in a row without catching the bag inbetween TWICE! Woohoo. I can't seem to fix my flipside. I might post a video for you guys to help me out if I can't get over it sooner or later. I might make a video out of today's session, too. I dunno. We'll see. My swirls (normal and reverse) are looking pretty good, too. And I almost hit swirl>osis rpt...dropped the last osis. Blah. Ok. Showertime!
