Why is it cheaper to order a complete board that to just get the parts?

No, it seems to me as though it was that buying apples is more expensive than applesauce.Pirate Man wrote:Same reason buying applesauce in a bigass container is cheaper per unit than buying it in smaller containers.

I get that, but you make applesauce out of apples. You make boards out of trucks, wheels, decks, etc. Apples are cheaper than applesauce. Why aren't trucks and stuff cheaper than complete boards?

it's like at a sporting goods store where they'll have a special kit for a specific sport [like a baseball kit that's complete with a mit, a ball, cleats and a bat] where when separately bought all of that stuff would amount to more money but because it's in the kit it's cheaper. It works because the kit is guaranteeing the store that those items will be bought by the one customer so it's worth lowering the price to some extent versus a situation without the kit where the person may only buy one or two of the goods.
or better yet the footbag kit on worldfootbag.com

where you save money for buying all of those products at once.
Also, with specific regards to skateboarding, sometimes skate shops will sell complete decks that have lower quality setup for people who are either a) beginners and don't want to invest too much $ into the sport or b) don't know better that what there buying is a sub par product. But this tactic is used more frequently with regular skateboarding because of its commercial appeal.
There are many quality online vendors for longboarding but if you're going to buy your board locally just make sure that you have researched on all of the different parts of the board so that you know if someone's trying to cajole you into buying a complete only for them to make money off of. That's what happened to me when i bought my first board; i was so anxious to have a longboard that I finally just bought it only to realize after that I shouldn't have just given into anxiousness
but that being said I still have fun using it.
hope this helps?

That makes sense. I'm probably gonna buy a gravity within the same timeframe that Ben buys his loaded.
