video is now online:
http://modified.in/footbag/viewtopic.php?t=17861

one highlight from those sessions was torque > barfly repeat. too bad the batterys went out 1 second (no joke!!!) before I've hit it. lol

I'm planning to film myself more often. It helps getting rid of bad style/form I hope.

no shred for one week. damn it.

not much footbag action going on. last week i played only once, this week i managed to play twice at least. i'm not sure whether i'll be able to squeeze in a footbag session next week though.

this friday footbag-vienna had a huge shred session going on, you could even name it a footbag jam. the AUTsiders (players from wiener neustadt) came to visit us! yeah! it was really nice to play with them as they all improved a lot over the last four months. i was impressed.
i tried to shred, but only hit a few long runs that can be described as boring, but very intense as they were very shuffle based. i also played with alex' super tiny new abshire bag. on the hand it's very good, but on the other hand i hate it, because i hate the fact that footbags tend to get smaller and smaller. if this trend continues, footbag will never be a recognized sport.
i've recently ordered two huge footbags by aaron s. that are red and yellow. can't wait to use them for shows. my only concern is that those bags will fit in my tiny toe box. ;)

today i had a shitty one hour solo-session, three things were good though:
reverse swirlx22
twirl>pdx torque
atomic whirl first try (yeah, wanted to hit that for a long time. footed it a year ago, but almost killed myself, so i haven't tried it since then).

less than four weeks until lise is going to be my shred partner! :D
and only three weeks until my next huge exam. :(

yesterday paul and i booked our flights to indonesia! yeah! from august 19th to october 3rd we'll be backpacking there for more than six weeks. guess i'll miss austrian championships again, but it's totally worth it.
i'm really glad that my boyfriend loves to travel as much as i do.

yesterday i had my farewell party. it wasn't only me who was celebrating but also three friends of mine. two of them will spend half a year in france, the other one in italy.
to be honest i was a bit disappointed, because there weren't as many people as i had hoped for, and also at least half of them left before 12 o'clock. well, most of them had good excuses like they were either sick, had to study a lot or had to go to a drum'n'bass/tekkno party they were involved with (either as DJ's, responsible for the visuals) or just wanted to go there. that drum'n'bass party stole a lot of my guests.
at like 12:30 paul, alex, anita (my sister), georg (one of my footbag students) and i decided to go to the drum'n'bass party. fuck farewell parties. ;) unfortunately we lost four other friends of mine, but met two of them 3 hours later at the party.
it was a good decision. the drum'n'bass party rocked. the music was really awesome and the best part is i made it to the visuals! people that didn't know me, didn't know that up on the screen that was me playing footbag, because it was blurred of course as it was a visual. i felt really honored to dance to some awesome music and see some visuals that were dedicated to me. thanks for that.

today i hit reverse swirl x26.
since i haven't been playing a lot of footbag lately (like once or twice a week), there's no footbag stuff to post. i don't care though.
i still enjoy to play footbag and want others to start playing and stuff, but i realize more and more that there are more important things in my life. right now, i try to take it easy and not to complain how much time university steels. i mean i don't have to study as much as i do, i don't have to study as fast as i do, it's my own decision that even i have a hard time to understand. sometimes that's really hard to see, as studying is no fun, but i hope that i am on the right path. i hope that eventually i'll have more time to play footbag and do other things that i like. i've been thinking a lot about my future and it makes me excited. lots of my friends tell me that they are scared about finishing university, but surprisingly i am not. i've been studying law for 3 1/2 years now and i want to be done with my studies, i want to explore the world and want to get a job that i'm satisfied with. there's no way i'm going to be a lawyer one day.
unfortunately i don't know when i'll be done with my studies. could be half a year, but also up to one year. i just hope that i'll pass my exam on monday, because otherwise studying those 1600 pages would be for nothing, as the next time i could take this exam would be in november or january next year!
a few days ago i got my two huge tennis ball sized footbags stitched by aaron s. as expected they are really great for visibility. :)

props on rev swirl x26
props on finishing up your studies
props on getting a law degree (+ bar exam?) in the future and not becoming a lawyer.

As you probably well know there is a huge amount for consulting work for law-degree holders in the corporate world.

Have a fun trip!

@max: thanks a lot for the props and for reading my/our footblog.
@wiktor: nice to hear from you. too bad that i'm not in vienna anymore, would have loved to shred and hang out with you and gosia!

i'm a student of the university of copenhagen now.
i'm really hyper right now. i should be really tired, but instead i'm really active, because everything is new and excitingggggggggggggg.
yesterday i played footbag with mads, niko and lise. was a lot of fun, even though i played pretty bad, still very good considering the lack of sleep and the stress.
i swapped my apartment with a danish couple that are coming to vienna. i've got my own apartment in copenhagen now. jeg bor i valby.
going to play footbag with lise really soon. i'm super sore though, the thing where the leg starts really hurts. also, my back is sore like hell, because i had to carry my suitcase that is as big as i, up to the fifth floor. i thought i would die.
today i found my first friend. her name is viviana and she's from italy. she seems to be really nice, too bad her english is not that great (i should try not to speak so fast). she's not a law student, so that's a good thing.
also, there's a great language mix in my head, most of the times (well i haven't even been here for 48 hours ;)) i speak english, but today i also spoke a bit of german and of course i should start to really learn danish.
goddag.

tak, asmus. jeg glaeder mig at spille footbag med dig i marts. :)

today i played footbag with lise and niko. niko left after a while though and then it was only lise and me left.
i couldn't hit any runs today, but i hit two things that i was happy with:
-motion>barfly
-reverse swirlx31

damn it. i just spent so much time in front of the computer trying to find an unlock code for my cell phone. without success. :(
that really sucks as i now have to buy a cell phone, while i would be totally happy with a really crappy one. as i will only need a phone for like 4-5 months, i don't want to sign a contract.

i really like to play with lise. gives me a lot of footbag motivation. :)
i'm going to start to work on my flip atomic set. i want to hit atomsmasher>atomsmasher so badly.

good to hear form you :)

I guess you will be shredding more than me in the next time ;)

have a good time. And as I said, I'll try to visit you!

and Wiktor: would be cool to see you in Wien. Too bad I guess I'll be really wasted that day because I'll be at the best drumandbassparty of the year the day before. It's the party of my favoutrite dnb-label liftedmusic Image Image

I'll tell philip if he doesn't read it.

Hey Verena,

Man you're lucky being able to play with lise and Niko!! Say hi to her (and Niko if he's still in Copenhagen)!! It's a real pitty that we aren't in Denmark at the same time. I'll be back June 28th so MAYBE we'll still see each other??

But at least I get a good bit of the Californian footbag scene!

About the cell phone.. ask some people in DK about the unlock.. I know lots of places (especially in Nørrebro) that have signs posted with unlocking of the phones for 50kr. So don't give up on your phone yet!! If you live near Nørrebro Station (NOT Nørreport!!!), then I know there's a place right outside of the station.. check it out or ask Lise..

Say hi to them all from me.

hej anne. thanks for your cell phone advice. i actually went to nørrebro right away (i could remember that part of copenhagen from my last visit), but couldn't get it unlocked. then i decided to buy an used phone which eventually broke again. now i got another one that is even crappier and hope that it's going to last for a while.

my university classes have already started. i'm taking three classes this semester. public international law, european union law and international human rights law. i had to buy two books so far that each have around 1000 pages and cost me like 160 €. also, the european union law book is so boring and complicated written, that i couldn't get past the first page.

my danish is still non existent. i can actually understand written things quite well, but can neither talk nor understand.

my new italian friend is very nice. the last few days, we've hung out quite a bit. it's nice to know some non law students, as i usually hate them. ;) but as lise told me, there are nice people everywhere.

since i'm here, i've played footbag on thursday, friday, sunday, monday and today. that's a new record! :) yahoo! feels so good to be motivated again. :)
lise is really good at footbag.
today we played for two hours. after that i was totally exhausted and couldn't hit anything anymore, but she continued to play. 8O
my new reverse swirl record is 32 now.
i can't remember what things i hit today, but my toe shuffle was pretty good.
i also hit DLOx6. pixie rakex2. smear>atomsmasher>fairy whirl. tapping legover (never tried before). and probably something else.
generally i was very happy, because i felt that the session was good practise and i enjoyed myself.

Nice, Verena. Sounds really good - apart from the mobile phone thing!!

Happy that you're enjoying the Danish scene and taking advantage of playing with my lovely sister! Still hoping to play with you this summer somehow.

Man.. European law... I know why I always avoided everything with the EU while studying political science.... zzzzzz... (well, in my opinion!).

Held og lykke med at lære at snakke dansk. Det skal nok komme, du er jo god til at læse og skrive dansk!!!

Vi ses til sommer!

yeah!
keep up the good footbag motivation!

I played with anita yesterday. she hit
clipper > ss legover
clipper > ss pickup
clipper > ss mirage

i hit nothing special:
blurrywhirl > symp whirl bsos

we actually talked quite a lot during the session, so it was hard to concentrate on the shred, but it was fun :)

@alex: yes! good to see that anita is hitting new combos!! i hope she will stay motivated and keep progressing. makes me really happy to see my sister playing footbag. :D :D i also think that blurry whirl>symp whirl bsos is a nice combo. :)
@anne: i never replied to the question whether i will actually be here until the end of june. i think i will, but i've got no idea. it depends just on my willing to finish my studies...
right now, i think that this can wait until november...
så jeg tænker vi ses til sommer. :)
haha. european union law. we'll see how that goes. the problem is that my intention is not to study a lot during my stay here. i studied so much last semester (maybe close to 50 ECTS? i don't know though...), that i have to take a break now.
today i have a little danish exam, because i'm intending to take a danish course this semester and since i already know a bit of danish, i don't want to start from the beginning on again. also, i think if i'm motivated enough to really learn danish, i think i could learn it quite fast since i feel that it's a lot easier for me than for a lot of other students from other countries to learn danish, since danish is kind of a mix between german and english.
unfortunately everybody keeps telling me that it's the most useless language ever and why even bother to learn it. :?

i started to bike through copenhagen. it's really a good way to get to know the city and forces me to be even more active. i always wanted to use a bike instead of the public transportation system, but even though some of my friends bike, vienna is not really a good city for biking. :(

unfortunately my shin splints once again came back. i seriously never ever can get rid of them. this sucks so much! my shins are fine until i start to play more than 2-3 times a week.
i really have no idea how to overcome shin splints.

yesterday, lise, kristian and i had the first outdoor session of the year! we are very hardcore. 8) it felt good to be playing outside again, though i just couldn't get warmed up (while i was actually starting to sweat, my legs were still stone-cold, plus my shins were really hurting). needless to say, i played really, really crappy, but still enjoyed myself so that was good.
on friday i hit reverse swirlx39.

:)

i've got really bad shin splints right now.
on monday i had a very short session with lise and nis. very short, because as even standing became very painful, i decided i should probably stop playing. it was the first time i've seen nis playing in like a year and i was very impressed. he's so much better now than the last time i've seen him play. :D

the last five days i've been biking so much. i really enjoy it.

yesterday we had a fire at our university. it was actually quite funny. we had our public international class and all of a sudden a girl came in and said something in danish that most of the people didn't understand. one danish girl translated that there was a fire downstairs and people should pack their things and leave. the funny thing is that nobody was in a rush at all, everybody was slowly packing their things and left. in the basement there was already quite a lot of smoke, so we went out and watched three huge fire trucks coming. twenty minutes later (the fire was killed by then) we continued our class.

also yesterday i got to know the result of the 1600 pages exam i had to take in austria just before i left to go to copenhagen.
i got a 1 (best mark in austria). the crazy thing is that out of 70 students i was the only one with a 1 and only four other students had a 2.
concerning university this semester was quite good. ;) i only got 1s.

congratulations again to your top grades in university. Much respect!!!!!!!

some highlights lately from fbv i remember:
anita has hit 42 consec. toe stalls.
my new combos:
pdx torque > ps whirl
barfly > symp.whirl rpt.
a long run with blurry whirl and tomahawk bsos. I was surprised because I almost never do tomahawks.

i have a new routine song, but I think I cannot practice it enough for todexon, so I may not even compete in routines. or maybe I take an old song which I used just once :? We'll see.

I also need to do a show next saturday in wr. neustadt, but I don't know how. I guess I need to make an easy routine by myself since my show partner is in Kopenhagen and theres no time to practice a show with someone else. It will be interesting cause I didn't play in front of people for some time.

so, basically not much happening here.
Black Sun Empire is waiting in the arena for me. Cheers :D

thanks, alex! :) i wish you good luck on the show on saturday. just do some very easy stuff. sucks that your show partner is in copenhagen. :P

i haven't been playing a lot. this week i only played once, the week before that twice.
unfortunately lise's leaving to go to africa tomorrow, so i hope i can motivate the other people here in town to play more.
last thursday was a really nice training though. including me, there were 8 players! felt so good to see so many people playing.
i haven't been playing very well since my arrival here in copenhagen.
BUT: i've hit motion>twirl. i really like that combo!
then i've hit toe DLO>ss DLO rpt and 8 contacts of reverse swirl>osis rpt.

i still can't start with my danish course! that really sucks. i've to wait until the 8th of april. sometimes this bureaucracy is driving me crazy.

yeah. tonight i'll go to stendgade 30 again. it's a cool club and i like the motto. it's rubA-dub sunday, fuck your monday.

solo session today.
made my new routine and practiced it several times. I can do either part one or two, but both are hard for me. actually they are not really hard technically so I cannot really make it easier :?

2 minutes are too long for me ;)
