i asked for it at a local latte store and the manager said it sounded interesting. She tried it and liked it so much that she put it on the specials menu and let me name it!

i ended up namming it "ChocoBerry Latte"

if you like french press coffee see if any local high end coffee shops have a clover coffee machine, its like an inverted automated french press and makes some of the best coffee in the world

french press coffee is much better than Drip coffee, but I think Espresso ftw!

I really don't understand why drip coffee is so popular...

It's more efficient and easier to manage for consumers, I think. You just add filter, coffee grounds and water and press a button. I also think they're much more widely available than press coffee mechanisms, since it's a stable unit that can placed nearly anywhere within a kitchen.

Trust me, I love press coffee, and denounce the drip version. I've never owned a press coffee mechanism, so I wouldn't know what to do with it (though I really love to watch how the coffee brews within a French Press!).

my dad has been using a dripper with a blade grinder and cheap coffee my entire life. for a while i've been thinking about getting him a nice burr grinder with a press pot, but i might hold off till father's day. I mostly want it so I can use it though

I had no idea what "French press coffee" was when I saw that topic, so I had to a google search

. We just call that normal coffee/real coffee/plunger coffee (as opposed to instant coffee, which is called instant/fake coffee). I'm guessing "drip coffee" is from an espresso machine? I probably prefer that, but "French press coffee" is pretty good, so that's what I normally drink apart from at cafÃ©s etc. On the odd occasions when I have to work 10+ hour days I would drink a very strong black instant coffee, but that's more like medicine than for the taste.

Actually I've given up all caffeine, so haven't had a coffee in a few weeks now.

Traditionally I believe espresso shots were pulled manually (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Espresso) see the pic on the right hand side for the manual machine.

I personally really like short double shots or ristretto shots (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ristretto). I love red eyes [a shot (or 2/3) of espresso in a cup of regular coffee], and straight up cups of regular coffee.

My love of coffee really intensified when I started drinking it black. I now feel its the only choice to really appreciate it.

It is hard to beat good espresso for concentrated enjoyment, but I do like brewed coffee if I am going to linger with a cup.

For espresso I usually drink an espresso blend, but for brewed coffee I usually drink a single origin coffee and use a Chemex brewer.

One time I chugged like 20 oz of coffee in the middle of the night. God it was disgusting. It had been sitting and it was all cold and shit. Ugh.

Just kidding, about the tool part. I had some french press coffee a while back (I don't drink coffee) and it was very pungent and good (besides being bitter and gross). I would love to taste the clover machines coffee.
