Putain de merde - the times of abstinence and horrid boredom are over !

I felt really strange and unbalanced for the last month .
When one is injured and out for a bit, no matter how low and sucky
one might feel, things arent that gloomy, since you know what
your injury is and that you will come back sooner or later .

In that respect, i`m quite unlucky - my feet, esp the right one, are just
worn out and battered and will act up, totally uncalled for, and usually
with the most impossible timing . French open comes to mind, or the
xmas holidays ( thats when i got the keys for the shred room that Asmus mentioned ) .
Irony is a funny bastard i guess.

The doctors that ive talked to had mixed news for me . i dont have any
type of athrosis, no bones grinding on each other, but also, i dont have
a chance go be cured.
Whenever my feet give up on me, i have to wait it out, they`ve told me.
I got some pills, some exercises and might get new, different insoles.
Thats it . I think, i should look for another job, running and standing around,
with some sort of death penalty for sitting down, isnt the right thing for me.

But at least i feel better now and had a mini sesh today .
Rusty as a coffin nail, impatient like a annoying and arrogant child,
but equipped with enuff muscle memory to bust out some standards.
Fun nonetheless, barfly bs felt soo good . i hit some ok guiltless runs out
drills and stuff . Tomorrow i shall have a proper session, and i hope that
i behave myself and stay clear of silly expectations .

there will be a lot of rambling and self-indulgent analysis a few posts down  , be warned !

Never believe school doctors.

I believe the solution for your problems is a change of style.
You should play more on your toes than on your heel - I strongly
believe this could help you.

The doctors couldn't help me with my knees either - but complete
rethinking of my game did help me. I never had any problems
with my knees since then.

I know how you feel Daryl. I know too good. But I also know that
there's a way out of it. Watch videos of yourself and analyze your
game and you will notice moments where you just put too much pressure
on your heels.

Keep shreddin',

i dont have a footbag injury.
my problems stem from the bad combo called :
flat feet, ignorance ( i.e. not attending krankengymnastik as a youth)
and a shitty job that turned this "condition"
into a problem over the years .

after i worked 6 hrs, like today, my foot hurts. i dont see how playing on my toes more shall help me with that ...

i dont have any pain when or after playing. i need a different job,
or at least, different shifts.

that said, a fine-tuning of style will surely help, in many respects and
i will also check into some alternative types of medicine .

forgive me the unhappy tone, i DO appreciate your caring.

I know how much your job at Foot Locker means to you and how much fun you had there but maybe it's time to move on.
I say this because I am absolutely sure that staying on your feet and footbag means more to you.

Comeback Session

and a bloody good one . not necessarily in the terms of shred,
but i had the right mind, the atmo was nice and my feet aswell as
my endurance choose to be on the good side of things. finally :P

the vibe of the day is best to be characterized as mildly chaotic,
i was suprized that i will shred, esp with other people, and sorta
had to squeeze the session in between all the other things that were
going on yesterday . i was a little late, didnt really warm up or
followed any structure known to man .
but that was probably the best thing to do for getting into the game
again, all kinds of selfinflicted drill nazism and
result-orientated narcissism were on holyday that day.
some basics, some drills, big ones, runs, chit chat, juggling, new links
with no order, but with great feelings provided by petty triumphs .

symp atomic legover>atomsmasher>run

atomsmasher>symp atomic leg>run

symp atomic leg>asassin>nice long run

quantum whirl

all my standard fives ( stampede, skullsmasher, tomahawk, phoenix,
alpha atomsmasher )

more to come on friday. hardcore drilling and form checking probably.

thanks for your comment, Anthony - its good to know that Asmus
and i arent solely responsible for the amount of views of this blog  .

the session with Andi on friday was a big leap forward for me -
i switched from clutch to meditation and hit my first ever 5-5 combo :

symp atomic ss symp mirage>pixie ducking butterfly

when i played yesterday, i wasnt as mind-less as last time ; having trouble
with dlos, stepping and osis kinda set me back a bit and there were times when i thought about stuff during playing .
drag and distraction .

anyways, i was lucky and didnt get stuck in that loop and managed
to pump out a few good runs.
we didnt drill at all, just a bit of warm up - clippers and bops 4 me -
and went straight into shred. that was fun and intersting -i broke certain
habits in linking, and some trix turned out to be more integrated than i thought they were.

some fives begin to be downloadable more often, even skullsmasher.

and

i hit one of my dream trix :

Quantum Ducking Mirage

No Shananigans Session :

this one was all business - no hard new trix, no pseudo prestige upping combos, just work .
but it was good work . being back on the anssi meth is soo the right
thing for me .

at the beginning i did tiltless and all kinds of clipper(drills), for like an hour.
i read something interesting in these highly reductionist threads
that go around in the general footbag section, it was about style, if i remember correctly .
anyway, somebody mentioned how precise Mathias clippers are and
how that is related to a good style.
Not a new thought by any means, but it struck me in the right moment.

then i did at least fifty butters, then 50 osis ( not in a row, of course ).

then 50 cons of dlo>butter>pdx mirage rpt - my best was 11 cons bs

after that i drilled paradon>pdx mirage, again 50 cons, followed
by 50 of dlo>para>pdx mir . i managed to hit the full drill only once tho...

i finished the session with ducking clipper>drifter>osis bs and dclip>whirl
>spin clip rpt - no seal on that, but considering the late hours, i still give
that one a :)

i wanna keep on with this way, with clipper/tiltless/bops being a constant
element, while the rest of the program being subject to change.
the way i feel now, i will work on sets, dlo, various whirls and barfly
next session .

Last but not least :

thanx for yo kind words, gang - i really apreciate that :D

Marco, i'm not sure bout todexon ...so i shall keep my promise and
send you bag and money with the hope that you will not take as long as me to send the bag back

I redeemed my promise and warmed up in the same fashion as last time.
Maby 80 tiltless, adding three runs up here, followed by a lot of clippers.
The clip>op clip thing stops to annoy me - it still feels too straneous for my tastes, but i guess i'm loosening up atm.
All this stuff is good for my infinities ; of course one might think, but i post this simple relation for exactement deux raisons, one being the vain hopes that some lost noob find my ramblings useful, the other is that i have to be reminded of this kinda stuff constantly.

My butters gave me a strange and crampy start, but i subdued them .
now i have to learn to let them flow on thir own.
Bea said, i should avoid jumping and told me to fall into them more .
true enuff, but i also have setting isssues i gotta smoove out, and most importantly i should do this slide/hop thing AT ALL TIMES .
All that shit was pretty intensive, so i left out working on osis today.

I hit at least 50 contacts ( in summa ) of the following drills, often more.
The only exception was the third combo - that one was first try and not
part of my program .

RESULTS :

10 contacts of ducking clip>whirl ( nu pb, former pb was 5-6)

dlo>ducking legover>rpt>run bs

d.mirage>ss dlo>rpt>small combo

legbeater>whirl>pdx mir>small run bs

legbeater>dlo>run bs

spinning clip>drifter bs

i couldnt hit those last two back2back for the life of me . but i have
a hunch that at least of of them shall fall into my lap next session :P

6 alternating toesalls while juggling ( 3ball cascade)

weird single trix like zoid pdx mirage or toe (in)gyro mirage
poppin out of nowhere with good form. kinda stoked on that...

Props! I'm totally working on similar combos right now Daryl, you should try DLO > Ducking Mirage > DLO > Ducking Legover (rpt) :D

Will try, old friend !

This was the first time in ages, that i was able to play three spectcular times a week .
It feels so great to play at the moment, and i'm grateful and happy that my feet and my motivation -
which clearly had suffered from all the countless injuries- didnt gave up on me .

It feels like i got a second chance and so far i can keep my vow of avoiding
my old mistakes . I tackle all the shadow material that hinders me to get good
( not clavens good, i'm kinda oast that, but good in my own world ),
and i perceive progress . sound and slow, on all quadrants and all levels.
I look over my shoulder more doing flip clippers, i get a more even rhythm
doing clip>op clip and infinities, flip atw and pixie are getting a bit deeper,
i found a way to keep up my variety and at the same time i stabilize and
lengthen my runs thru all that bop training .

The thing i like best about this new phase, is that i dont waste good time trying to hit some wild stuff anymore .
I know the locator points of my abillities at last . When i hit a new combo, but especially when hitting new moves,
they just manifest themselves, ending in a safe stall, within a few tries.

As for today, i started with a biiiig warm up/check up thing, same stuff as the last two sessions,
with osis this time, and some nice bop experiences.
The rest of the times went something like this :

butterfly>osis>symple swirl ( an old reqest of bjoern )

atomic gyro pick up

flip symple swirl !!!

paradon>gyro mirage>run>bothsides

paradon swirl

toe blur>toe blur>atomsmasher>atomsmasher>run

toe blur>toe blur>toe blur

flipside skullsmasher

i almost got tb>tb>as>as on flip, but the last atom is another session away.
but thats kool, since i dont recall that i hit tb>tb starting on strong
until tonite

You, sir, are a crazy madman. That last session was more than epic.

SCREAMING FOR A DARYL SOLO VIDEO! When someone really deserves
it, then it's you.

You are really pushing footbag in Munich to new levels, man. I'm speechless.

Thanks daddy ! I'm in a really passionate phase i guess, and i try to tackle
all my various weaknesses, those harder moves are more or less random and dont reflect my abillities at all, nor are they my main focus atm.
i work a lot on my downtime stuff and on basic clipper shit in general.
Today i did the typical warm up, but in a shorter time and afterwards, i drilled whirls, followed by a bit of flip toe blur .
It was a low session afterall, playing crappily is something i can bear,
but playing wanting to crap is a little to hard, even for me  .
It seemed as if all my energy went straight into my digestion, and there wasnt much left for shred .

Anyways, i was close to hitting toe blur>roe blur>atom>atom from my other side .
but i hit two new trix and one drill .

gyro symple swirl

pixie gyro mirage

butter>whirl>whirl>rpt>rpt
