do we? i mean, without doubt it is up there, and there probably is only one person who can hit this combo, buuuuuuuuut: thinking of hitting something out of symp whirr, the "easiest" must be either a spinning or a ducking trick - even if it is whirlwind swirl. i'd even say for vasek or anybody who can hit that crazy trick well, with some tries, i imagine it could be hit out a lot of very hard stuff...

to me clavens rewind combo seems harder, or at least up there as well, considering how flawless the execution is.
and pixie dolomite swirl - backside clownface aint that bad either...

Yeah, that's two really hard tricks, not a really hard link though. Especially since the same foot stays on the ground for the spin and such.

That's really crazy though. 0.0 Thanks Milan!

I agree with Max K.
Sure they're huge TRICKS... but the link isn't nearly as contorting and intense as Dave's combo, or Felix's combo, or Vasek's pixie dolomite swirl > backside clownface (>TATW...) I also thought Jim's gauntlet x2 sounded pretty rad, though maybe not QUITE the same calibre.

How many people can hit pixie dolomite swirl? Let alone furious symp eggbeater out of it? ;)

Great topic, one we have chatted about continuously in Sole Purpose for a while, glad someone put it in writing! The commonly agreed upon ones that we keep coming back to are;

Vasek
Marius to Gaunlet
Supa Dupa Fly to Backside Blurry Torque (and/or Backside Bedwetter)
Giro Baroque to Giro Baroque
Nemesis to Nemesis
Montage to Blurry Flurry
Symposium Whirr to Whirlwind Swirl

David
Nemesis to Whirly Gig Swirl
Nemesis to Alpine Fog (and/or Alpine Blurry Torque)
Furious Drifter to Paradox Fusion

Felix
Whirring Swirl to Alpine Food Processor

...and "Pixie Dolomite Swirl to Backside Clownface"? Just heard about that one.

Granted a few of these links aren't that difficult currently for the player who executed them, but difficult to the general population.

I have done superduper>bs bed and whirring swirl>alpine food and do not feel they are that crazy. Also, nemesis x 2 is not that big when like 3 people have hit it. Maybe 4.

Agreed with David. Actually I don't get it. like 90% of those aren't even hard links. What are we voting for? Hard trick > another hard trick? OR the link between them? Because like Alpine Fury > Pixie Ducking Grifter Rev Swirl has a REALLY EASY link. Let alone what's before/later. Would Super Nemesis > PS Whirring Swirl be a hard link?! For me: NO. For me a hard LINK would be like BS Blurry Torque > FS Furious Drifter. Too doable tricks, but the link makes it almost impossible. Sorry, I just don't see any philosophy in linking Superdup > BS Bed, Montage > Blurry Flurry or Nem B2B (yea Dave, yestarday hitting few veeery deep ones).

Sorry if this sounded like "I can hit those all in one run, piece of cake!", I didn't ment that. Perhaps I'm getting the "hardest links" threat wrong, then sorry, never mind. Just my opinion.

PS. But I guess Vasek is the winner anyway... who knows what is REALLY his best link? :D

Yeah that's crazy.

I can't say I understand the discussion. Isn't a hard move>hard move a hard link? Like symposium whirr>whirlwind swirl sounds like a hard link to me. In fact I find symposium whirr>toe stall pretty bloody difficult. I guess people are saying that the hardest link is the link where the second move has the highest increase in difficulty because of the first move, but when I think of a link, I think of how hard each move is as well.

For example superfly>pdx torque is a much harder link than osis>ripwalk, but going by the definition of a hard link that I think people are using, you would be voting for the osis>ripwalk combo?

I would say that sticking symposium whirr in front of any move gives you a link that probably only 1 person in the world can hit, and that sounds like it makes it pretty fucking hard to me.

I bet Vasek could hit almost all the combos people have mentioned, but how many people can just hit the first move of the Vasek one. If you can't hit the first move, doesn't that make the link even more difficult?

I agree with Olaf. A hard LINK needs good balance, precision and strenght. Something you can't just fluke. What makes Superduperfly > Symp Flurry a hard link is that you really need strenght to symp Furious out of symp DOD, you need perfect landing and perfect setting.

I dare to say that Symp Whirr > Whirlwind Swirl isn't that hard as a link, because once you get the first trick with good landing, you can spin out of hit with ease. - In every other case I think the link is mind blowing.
Something like Symp Whirr > Stepping Diving Clipper would be a hard link, because you would need power and a sharp set to step out the first trick.

Thanks Anz for your support!

I see two different ways of defining a LINK.

For some people (majority??) it's a combo made of two difficult tricks, like Whirr > Swirlwind. It's even harder considering only Vasek can hit it nowadays. And it's hard to disagree, that it's a huge 2 tricks combo. But for me, it doesn't exist as a link. Here, a link would be a Symposium (really hard one) cought on Clipper > Spinning set (with the potential for Symp Wh Swirl). Although the combo is obviously insane, link (I'd compare it to, lets saaay Pogo Shaft > Void ?) seems not that hard (comparing to some other combos made of a lot easier tricks), the link is not what makes it so hard. So in my opinion what's hard here are TRICKS, not the link between them.

I was asked to verbalize how I understand link, but I couldn't think of any fine definition... for me a link contains all components of the first trick, which have any impact on performing the second one, plus all components of the second trick that makes it so hard to hit it after the previous trick. Now I need to apologise you for my english, lol. That's why I gave an example: Super Nem > PS Whirring Swirl as an "easy" link. To show, that two LINKED TRICKS do NOT have to be a hard LINK. To show you the difference between linked tricks and a LINK, as I understand it.

And it all start to be REALLY important when comparing sick3s. Also, it was an inspiration, base of making new methods of counting sick3. And it is really important for people (like me), who risk dropping by raising the difficulty of links, not just putting big add tricks. I mean, is there a difference between Nem > Pdx Blender and Pdx Blender > Nem? I think there IS - a different link (much harder in the second example). Whirr > Toe an insane single trick (bailed).
