Footbag develops endurance?
Footbag develops endurance?
Would you say freestyle footbag develops endurance? For me it's the only sport where I can go on until I'm so tired that I can hardly stand. Usually I'd quit because of the discomfort.
Sure long sessions develop your endurance. However, a 1-hour shred session doesn't develop it in the same way as a 1-hour run.
Normally you start feeling uncomfortable after your body has used it's ATP hormone reserves (which don't last long; google it if you don't know what it is). In basically every sport you can, with training, go beyond the discomfort if you just keep going - after a while your body starts burning fat for energy and you might feel better. Freestyle footbag, however, is a very technical sport, where you go on high efficiency for a short while, but when the ATP reserves are used, you get tired and usually drop. Then you have a recovering pause during which your body forms more ATP. Heavy breathing is caused by the "oxygen debt" (not sure if that's the correct term).
The reason why you don't see 10-minute freestyle runs is because those who could do that, are expected not to use the easy tricks. Vasek wouldn't get much respect for going tiltless for an hour. It'd be boring to watch.
With the right training you could go beyond the limit also in footbag, but not many have the time, the passion and essentially the knowledge to train right. Footbag lacks coaching, which is necessary for a sport to become a real sport. Trust me, we haven't seen even a bit of what freestyle footbag could be.

Freestyle is so much different from (long distance) running. I do both, run more nowadays though. Although I can run about 2 miles in 12 minutes, my longest tiltless runs have been only about 50-60 contacts, guiltless runs maybe 20-25 contacts. Usually they are below ten.Kimbe. wrote:Seriously, do you guys ever play on your own? For me it takes 5 minutes to get REALLY exhausted, and my endurance isn't even bad,(I used to run before, besides footbag...)
I shred 95% alone, and I just stand there and breathe at least as much as I actually play.
Note: breathing technique definitely has an impact here.

I stopped having muscle ache after training (what ever it is connected with legs) maybe more than year ago and thanx to footbag.
My friends who dont play footbag have muscle ache the next day when we play a football match or tennis or...go hiking in the mountain...things like that.
Im really thankfull to footbag

Yes it's true that long distance running developes a different endurance than footbag does. But, you still get the basic endurance by running.sniikeri wrote:Freestyle is so much different from (long distance) running. I do both, run more nowadays though. Personally I can't imagine playing footbag until I can't stand, because after a while of playing I feel like getting exhausted in no time, which results in bad runs.
Note: I'm not trying to be a prick
