That was, of course, taken before I fucked up my bike.

I ordered my new fork today! I bit the bullet and ordered the gangsta track fork, I'm SO stoked!!

I've been obsessing sooo hard about the tricks I intend on hitting as soon as I have a bike again.

Maybe I should put a little effort into seeing if I can fix some of the other fucked up parts of my bike in the mean time.

Last night Josh came over for some footbag. I was suuuuuper rusty as I havn't really played much at all in the last few months.

I didn't last long as my ankle is still a little tender and I was left with some stinging pain after not too long, unfortunately.

I wonder if maybe I cracked some inner bone or something, I've never felt ankle pain like this before.

We did some shuttle cock 2-square though, and that's always super fun.

I think of all the things I've ever kicked around the shuttle cocks are my favy. If you want a sweet one I can send you one for $10 including shipping, anywhere in the world.

I need some dinner, then I am gonna do the stretching video from P90X. (P90X is the name of the workout thingy Peng and I are doing)

every jam I've been to there has been a shuttle cock fluttering about gleefully. And those circles are always a lot of fun, especially when people try and do footbag tricks with them and we're somehow really impressed when it works out reasonably well!

nice picture. I'm really enjoying reading about your riding career take off! It's a totally new thing with me so it's really interesting.

i really like the photo above. colors are so intense. and i can really imagine you just picking up the phone in front of you!

i bought a 20 year old racing bike here in marseille, cause i needed something to get around, which i am planning to bring back to berlin. the gears work but because the things to change the speeds (whatever that might be in english? the levers?) is not on the handle bar, but down on the frame i don't use them. so i thought maybe i'll try to be one of the cool kids and make it a track bike as well... is it hard to find an axis for that? or expensive? can you help me? i guess changing the axis itself isn't hard at all. but maybe there's something to know about that?

so what's your current status on moving? when will you be around? you HAVE to be there for 1st of may. there always first is the really nice outdoors music festival/ party/food etc... i or rather we all really enjoy playing there. and afterwards there are riots. a real spectacle.

Max, it's pretty tricky/expensive to convert a wheel to fixed, the easiest route is to buy a whole new rear wheel that has a fixed hub, then all you have to do is put that on and shorten the chain a bit. Then you are free to remove all the extra bits like the derailleur and shifters and rear brake, which really cleans up the look of the bike.

My Berlin situation is progressing slowly. I keep getting stuck at the same point with my paperwork. I need to complete this scavenger hunt of things in order to send in my residence permit application, which I need in order to work legally. That said, I thiiiink I am allowed to move there without it, but I just couldn't work until it clears.

The plan has been to move at the end of April, and I am doing my best to stick to that.

I guess I should start firming things up.. I really want this to be solidified and I want a date to work around.

All this said, I am still 100% moving to Berlin, I have no other plans, this is what I am going to do next in life.

I really need someone in Berlin to be helping me with a few things on the other end. Like, I assume that it makes the most sense for me to fly over, stay with a local player until I find a flat of my own and then have my shit sent over. Who should I stay with? I suppose I probably have lots of options since all the locals are so friendly.

I have been practicing my German EVERY day though! I want to be as fluent as possible when I get there. I really really enjoy the Rosetta Stone program I have been using, each day I learn a whole bunch of new words and the ways they interact, so fun!

I bought a Rubik's Cube today, I decided it's finally time to learn. haha, yes, I need more things to learn! rahh!!

i guess we're all willing to help you with what we can/ what you need. i don't know what the exact apartment situation is with all the others, but in general i'm sure you have a place to crash. the good thing is in berlin, finding something to live is REALLY easy. within a week you can find a room for about 200 or less a month, I'm pretty sure. nothing special, but something to start from, for a month or two. especially in april when heating is no question, you'll have a lot of cheap options to choose from. the funny thing is we're all real picky with apartments, cause we're so spoiled, so we all look for months, since everybody wants their perfect little apartment for no money. but don't waste too many thoughts on getting started, you'll do fine, i'm sure. and about the working thing... i have no idea how it works exactly, but i'd think you could just come on your normal tourist status, and then do all the visa stuff in berlin (?). and was the idea to work at ole's? cause last thing i remember was he was searching some crazy canadians. if he was helping you with the papers, i'm sure you being around the corner could speed things up - ole once in a while needs a kick in the ass to get going (he seriously just has so much stuff on his mind (his shop/other biz/jule/baby/pf...) so some things happen less fast than others)

i'll see what i'll do about the bike. it was such a nice and cheap flee market find, that i am not really planning to put any money into it. it basically is quite slick in its current oldskool state. maybe i'll give it to a girlfriend of mine and stick with my old bike. cause hot girls on old racing bikes are like the sexiest thing on earth. that way i'd profit as well.

Today has been the worst day in a long time. Sigh.

I'm just finishing up my shift and then I'll head home where I hope things will turn around.

I am gonna skip gymnastics tonight and maybe hit the pool.

Hey Tom.

It is fun reading your roller coaster blog. All these ups and downs. It is really interesting.

I really just wanted to comment that I bought the P90X like 2 months ago too! With the chin up bar and stuff. I have not really started the program yet, but I will soon. It seems like alot of work.

Also, have you made any headway on the screens I was looking for? Do you think you will be able to get that done before your big move?

Andrew, I've actually been thinking about that project lately and I was going to PM you about it to get it rolling again. I think that ideally we'd work together to iron out the image so that you're satisfied and I know it's something I'd be able to screen. I havn't forgotten, I've just been busy and lost in my own crazy world, I hope you understand. Also, give P90X a try, it's pretty intense but totally worth it. I am about to commit to it!

Today isn't as bad as yesterday, in fact, today I am fine.

Yesterday when I was feeling sorta overwhelmed by the stuff I have to do for Germany my dad came up to my room and told me that he could tell that I was sorta stuck and he offered to sit down with me to go through all that I have ahead of me to help get me organized, I really appreciated the offer! So tonight I am going to work with him to set milestones and figure out all that needs doing and I am super excited!

It's so nice having my family home again, I had a mom-cooked meal last night! mm!

The house felt so empty and dead without them and Bosco.

Oop, I am at work and I think I should maybe keep working.

I will update after my talk with my dad. I am really hoping to square up some details like my exact travel date. (Though I am starting to think something like April 30 makes good sense as it's after GRASS and Peng's b-day but before the start of May when Max says I should be there by)

yo tom im happy that your getting things organzied in your life right now. But its a HUGE downer that youd rarther spend money on bike parts, opposed to coming down a seeing some friends for a weekend, which youve said you were gonna do before you left. I am CONVINCED that you are NOT coming.

What the fuck do people do on the internet? I REALLY don't get what's so great about it. I come online and last like 5 minutes before I've checked all the things I am interested in and become totally bored. Modified has nothing for me, all my bike sites are boring, facebook is for bland do-nothings and youtube is a wasteland, gah, what the fuck do people like about the internet???

Lately I am bursting at the seams with passion and obsession but I have no useful way to vent.

I am so fucking obsessive, I hope this comes in handy some day.

Actually, I know that it has already done me lots of good, it's the reason I've managed to overcome my ADD to actually finish things.

Bleh, I am gonna go do a German lesson, at least that is productive. I have so much trouble with breaking out of my obsessive loops of checking sites, maybe I need an internet break? Can't do that, I need to keep up with the world of fixed gear tricks, that is my main passion these days.

BERLIN BERLIN BERLIN!!!!!!! I think about Berlin constantly.

I think I am ready to commit to P90X (the workout thing Peng is doing), maybe that will give me something good to obsess over.

Anyways, german lesson time.
