OK so to sum it up:

Olav (and others) are saying this is the hardest LINK thread and therefore the [whatever set] symp. torque > symp furious [whatever downtime component] is the hardest link.

Jeremy (and others) are saying that two incredibly hard moves would be hard to link because few people can even hit them, this makes the link hard even if cut down to basics it's "nothing more" than clipper > spin.

Semantically I'd have to side with Olav and say that indeed the actual linking of components in his combo sounds harder.
Personally though I still think Jeremy brings up a good point with his symp whirr > toe delay example.

Let's stay on topic.
You seem friendly. Do you speak this way to people when your in their presence?

Anyways.
I've got some Acid. I'm going to take it. Then about two hours later I will rethink this topic of "what defines a difficult link". I will continue by writing pages and pages of mind bending views on what a difficult link REALLY is.

I support all creative thinking on this topic. I just believe it is a bottomless pit and after reading everything above I feel like all of the fun has been stripped. Especially when Derrik tries to offer his opinion and is immediately struck down.
First think about how to practice or don't bother practicing.

Responding to opinions I somehow skiped...

Agreed with Dyalander, although it's very very hard to describe clearly the 2nd point. According to what you said AND what I think, a combo would be 1+2, and a link would be only 2. If we unificate (umm, correct word?) those two words so they will semantically be the same, valuing combos (as only 1, wchich is individual trick difficulty) would be less objective in my opinion.

However, deciding which combo (as I said: not link, but combo) or sick3 is harder it's always way more important to see how hard the tricks were. It makes the difference between Osis > Ripwalk and Nemesis > Pdx Torquescrew. On the other hand, for some oter examples THE LINK is what makes a HUGE difference. Almost as important as other things we need to consider: CLEANNESS and VARIETY. Not only how hard tricks were, or even how many adds they had.

Dbl Rev Twirl > Dbl Spin Clip maybe hasn't got the hardest link, but the LINK and variety make it harder than some similar (difficulty) tricks but less varied and/or including a really easy link.

Matt, I hope I claryfied your doubts giving that Nem > Step example in my ealier post? Putting sth before a downtime component SOMETIMES (not always) makes the downtime component harder to control, and we need to keep that in mind when valuing a link. Speaking about links, Fairy Atomic Ducking Legover > Pixie Ducking G/Drifter Swirl has the same link difficulty as Ducking Legover (because Ducking unables us to start dexing midtime, reqires quicker movement) > Pixie Ducking (precise! due to the upcomming hardcore component)

Honestly, I don't understand the Whirr > Toe example very well... it's a single hardcore (!) trick linked with the easiest thing to do out of it (besides a Kick or handcatching). For me it's a bail, something I (note: I) DO NOT consider as a combo. It's like few Inside Kicks > Toe > ss Clipper > fearless run. Or Toe > shred30 starting with Dimwalk. Whirr > Toe is hardcor for the single trick, so why mention the easiest link there is to make it sound less hardcore?

Agreed with Dyalander
Yeah, I read that post on the previous page that said no one had got what you were trying to say, and I compared your definition of a link with what I said, and thought - what's he talking 'bout, I got it!

starting the second trick with a spin is the easiest possible link for any first trick ending in clipper.

Im not the best quoter...lol, but replying to Paulo, defending Ken's fact that the thread is about links that have been hit.

The last sentence in Tom Mosher's intro to this thread, is...Also, what do you think is the toughest link that could hypothetically be hit. And since i can do both those tricks, one more than the other, I was and still am 100% positive that someone can hit that link. There are 2 topics , so I stayed on one....... Thats why its confusing.
-------------------------------

Yesterday i hit what might be my hardest link, for where i am. Whirr>ripstein, both sides. KFM!!

Paradox Whirl Free 7>7? Excellent! I wouldn't have thought that had been hit. And a bloody dynamite link as well. I would consider it bigger than Symp Whirr > Swirlwind.

Pdx whirl free 7>7 means two 7 add tricks back-to-back without using a pdx whirl component (such as Montage or Gangsta Party)
