I know it seems masculine, but, heavy weights low reps and days off is the only way "hard gainers" can put on weight. Or atleast thats what my research has found.

theres lots of stuff on this interweb thingy, read any articles that AREN'T trying to sell something, they got good info.
Thats what i used to do. i lifted weights for about 5 months, before both of the people i lifted with moved away, and the highschool gym i went too stopped being public. i gained 12lbs of all muscle, and even lost some fat. i was on a high protein diet and did Olympic and Strongman lifting with low reps heavy weights.

Be careful though, this can be taxing on your body if you don't lift responsible. i have a back injury from it. not a bad one, but if i don't stretch it regularly, or try to lift things i shouldn't be lifting it starts to cramp up and ache.

I'm up 6lbs in the 4 weeks since I restarted with my program to get bigger and stronger, this time with more conviction!

I'm lifting heavy, although mostly bodyweight exercises because I want the strong functional strength that comes with it. I've worked my way up to pistols (1-leg squats) today. Working on my weakling upper body has been a fun challenge and I started seeing results last week.

Drinking tonnes of milk and eating lots of food. Debating on a dirty bulk, but I feel like crap when I eat junkfood.

A tub of PB has become my best friend. It follows me everywhere.

Good luck to all the hard gainers out there! If I can do it, anyone can.

Hehe it's so cute getting updates from Pengpeng on her weight gain. "I'm up another pound!", to which I replied "Good work fat ass!".

I am looking to gain some muscles which will probably weigh more than not-muscles. :P

Here's a trick I use (I don't know if it would work on a female physique, but it couldn't hurt to post): plenty of people said more weight, fewer reps. Do even more weight and the same reps.

Do fifteen reps with the most you can manage without hurting yourself. If you can only lift it ten times, that's a good weight. If you can't lift it once, don't use it.

 Sorry, but that was pretty bad advice. Didn't you read that I want to be bigger AND stronger?

I'm not sure you know this, but 15+ reps won't make you strong, or significantly bigger because you are doing metabolic training. It builds endurance though, if that's what you're seeking. It's good for toning.

It's why people said more weight, fewer reps. I think you misunderstood the meaning of that. At more weight (ex. 75-85% of 1RM), you should only be able to do a few reps (~6-10).

So if you are suggesting that someone do "even more weight" (85-95% of 1RM) at the "same reps" (10-15 reps), it is the most irresponsible advice you can give someone and may cause them to hurt themselves.

If you are doing this, stop. If you could work until failure at 15 reps, you aren't loading enough anyway.

I'll stick to 4-5 sets of 5-10.

I do not know too much on this topic, but my mother has the same problem. She drinks something called Ensure but I don't know if it is in Canada. But basically it is something elderly people drink that is full of nutrients and helps them gain weight. You should look into it.

Congratulations on your 6lbs! Just make sure to keep eating healthy.

I was thinking of tone. Ignore my advice if you don't want a manly physique.

And don't be like Greg Valentino.

It's obvious that you've got a pretty good idea about how this all works, but I'd like to mention a couple of good resources.

http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/ - Women's Weight training site. Not that women's weight training is drastically different than men's, but this site has a lot of great information from a woman's perspective. She's even got an article specifically addressing your question - LIIIIINK.

Starting Strength - Buy this book. It teaches - in fantastic detail - all the major mass building barbell exercises. It changed my life - I had bum knees for five years and suffered chronic back pain for almost as long. Both of these problems have disappeared in the three months I've been lifting. I feel like a completely different person.

im a skinny stick too and cant seem to put on the pounds either. i dont think anyone here is going to truly be able to give you the definitive answer on how you can gain weight. your body is yours individually and not like anyone elses. consult a professional.

It's easy... Just eat when your not hungry. Thats how people get "Fat" in the first place, they just like the taste of food. Like after i havent eaten for a couple days before i weigh in for wrestling, I eat a Ton after i weigh in, then i eat alot the whole weekend just because "i like the taste of it" And no im not fat.. Lol i am like 5'8 and weigh around 135 naturally and cut to 125

Don't overeat. Don't do creatine. Creatine loads up your muscles with water. That's all. And overeating can kill your metabolism.

She said she wants to gain weight diddent she? Water = weight, Ruined metabolism = more weight. Perfect.. lol And creatine doesnt just add water to your muscles, It makes it easier to Lift heavy weights with out gettin tired. It supplies oxygen to your muscles when your lifting, There for letting you lift heaver weights, with more reps. Witch in turn lets you gain more muscle mass faster.

People should do their own research and not listen to some of the above posts.
