Thanks for the shout back guys. It feels real good to start getting the groove back, though I still feel like there are a lot of things I still need to work on.
- I'll try not to bail to Osis as much for the next video, but I dropped it twice which means that I need to drill it more. I always get pissed off when I drop a BOP.
- Yeah, my left leg Whirl technique is pretty different in comparison to my right side. I think I fixed that when I only do Pdx Whirls, but everything else that bad technique comes back. Usually on my right side I complete the dex with my calf, where as on my left it's just above the ankle. It's so hard to try to do it any other way though.
- I have to agree, 7 minutes is a bit long for a video, but I figured I would make this one a bit longer and give you guys a bit more because I'd probably hold off putting out any other video.
- Yeah, I lost some muscle! I haven't done weight lifting in just over a year so it's really starting to show. Also this past week I haven't been eating very much and I actually dropped below 150 lbs, which hasn't happened since before jr. high. A little scary. Oh, and I'll really try to get that Flurry > Atom drill on camera, but as of late my left side Toe Flurries haven't been co-operating. I'll keep trying and post it in my blog when I can manage it
.
- My height and weight? I am 5'7"ish and right around 145lbs.
- Dave, I'm really glad you posted. I feel as though we've gotten off on the wrong foot at Worlds, all things considered, and it's been weird ever since. But anyways, I've really cut back footbagging during the winter so I did lose a lot of my consistancy. I probably coudl have made a 3 min video from the one session where I was in the squash court, but I had a lot of other footage laying around and I just wanted to use it. Also, my camera is a digital camera so I have to manually start/stop it after every run (or failed attempt, in that case I have to switch settings and delete the clip itself). It's a real killer, it's hard to get your rhythm and keep your mindset when you constantly have to keep going abck forth between your camera and shredding. And also, I know I fall into a lot of repetitive links. It sucks
. I didn't think it was that noticeable, so thanks for letting me know. I'll try to spruce it up a bit!
- No matter what Rory says, that was actually in the men's locker room
.
Anyways, thanks again for the ups guys. It makes me feel real good, and makes me want to make more videos. I'm really glad you all enjoyed it!

Finally found time to watch it. What I like in your game is your control and I guess trick selection. It makes your game solid and enjoyable to watch. Keep it up.

Wow Byrin, what an awesome video. Your game is incredible. You are so fast and you look a lot more relaxed in this video than in some of the older ones. The editting and music selection was nice. The different scenery kept the look of the video more interesting and enjoyable. The ending of the video was well timed with the music ending along with the final sick string.

i feel like you don't get enough credit for your game.
your style looks more fluid, but at the expense of your consistancy i think. personally i liked your old style better just because i feel like it was more unique and it fits you better. the new stuff is okay, and i think more people are accepting of it, but it looks like a lot of other styles that are already around. your previous solid style couldn't really be found on anyone else. just my opinion, i liked it better then.
utilize your eggbeaters and nukes. nuclear egg? blade runner>blade runner? i feel like those are your best components... well, and your symp torques, duh.
about the whole bail to osis thing and repetitive combo selection: i noticed the whole bail to osis in a few places, but i really don't feel like you repeat unnecessary combos. everyone bails to osis, its no biggy and if everyone stops doing smear to dimwalk then its unique again. its a momentum building combo and can be used effectively.
anyway, yeah, megaprops. thanks for posting. keep playing.

Hey Byrin, I watched through your video again, and I have some constructive criticism.
You bail too much and you tend to only hit hard combos at the start of your runs - and then the rest of the run is just fill, with the odd hard move.
Here are a few runs as an example (randomly selected). I have bolded the parts that are good, and highlighted in red the moves I think are unnecessary bails.
Blurry whirl>blurry drifter>osis>bttfly>blurry whirl>blurry drifter>osis>spinning clipper>ss butterfly>pdx mirage>smear>dimwalk>bedwetter>ss butterfly>tomahawk>osis>gyro clipper>reverse swirl>spinning osis>torque>pdx torque>pdx mirage>smear>ss butterfly>stepping handcatch.
Stepping ss mirage>pixie legover>pixie legover>atomic legover>atom smasher>legbeater>blur>smoke>osis>spinning clipper>ss butterfly>blur>smog>op butterfly>pdx eggbeater>pixie ss mirage>op butterfly>drifter>tombstone>osis>spinning clipper>vortex>spinning pdx mirage>tapping muted osis>infinity>reverse swirl>drop
Compare this to a run from Aleksi Airinen; somebody who I think you're going to be as good as one day;
Blurry drifter>whirl>barfly>spinning clipper>blizzard>dimwalk>shmoe>double over down>pdx whirl>pdx drifter>pdx whirl>barfly>spinning clipper>barfly>blurriest>pdx illusion>magellan>toe whirl>ducking clipper>ps whirl>spinning butterfly>
Now I'm sure you could hit this run yourself, and it's not that amazing for him or you, but note how many more links there are, and how few bails there are - there are a no big combos, but it's not "fill" either.
I should note that I've brought this up because I've noticed the same thing with my own game - my runs are set move or combo to "fill." The top players get rid of that fill, so that the whole run is interesting.
