Session today.

 100 inf > rpt. Best string 6 or 7. (first time, gimme a break!)
 100 mirage > legover > rpt. Best string 23 (new pb). Finally starting to click. Don't anticipate major future frustration.
 50 inf > p. mirage > rpt. Best string too small to mention. Fatigue?

So, after you delay the bag, it's worthwhile to really think hard about the set. There's plenty of time while the bag's on your foot. I'm finally able to get in zone again - make time slow down, put real thought into what's happening in the moment...

Gooood.

I watched your video. We really are at similar places. For instance: mirage on one side is excellent, mirage on the other side gets too far away at times for the ideal dex.

BTW, I dropped on the 10th contact of butterfly> pdx mirage> repeat. Right as I was thinking "and here comes ten - booyah" the bag hit the end of my toe & dropped.

You've gotten much better since Chicago. It's great to see.

Your mirages and legovers look solid, keep doing em'.

Your clipper is a little off, make sure to turn those hips. Turn your hips away from the bag, but your upper body towards the bag. Catch the bag as far back as possible. This will give you more space for swirls.

Also don't forget to do the magic hop on your clippers. Right now it's just a stalling leg movement, with little to no knee flexion. Not good practice for harder tricks.

Much much better than Chicago though, I agree.

I've gotta stop using words and then looking them up a day later. This is doing terrible things to my confidence.

Been pretty pleased with the past couple of sessions.

Monday: flip pixie came back alive, strong pixie started acting strong again. hit plo>plo, smear>legover>rpt, smear out of both p. mirages. strong stepping seemed to be there when I tried it too, but I didn't really work on in and i don't plan to soon. blur midstring felt good though and it's a pretty serious move for me now.

Tuesday: flip pixie disappeared again, but my right toe is back in business. pixies still good, and fairy is starting to actually feel like it might exist for me sometime. hit fear for the first time (in my life). almost hit it my first try, and then took about 20 more to get it. I hit two of each osis in one string, which is a big deal since my flip osis is still a train wreck.

Tomorrow: I'm gonna play footbag and maybe hit some tricks. yay montreal.

Edit: I wish I'd looked at the date of nathan's post. i definitely would have written something last night :( ONE YEAR AND ONE AND A HALF DAYS LATER

Hey Nathan, go to Boston!

I have Neko Case tickets that weekend.

I'm glad you're playing. Didn't you just move to Montreal? Maybe there will be some time of Jam, perhaps in the spring, in or around Montreal that I'll be able to attend.

I've heard about that one. Haha. I now live somewhere where if I just hang around long enough a bunch of footbaggers will come to ME. You best come up, hell, stay at my place if you like. Enjoy Neko Case too, should be easy.

Hit the other smear>legover>rpt tonight in not too many tries. flip pixie might really be coming to life again and that's exciting. Had trouble with it early in the session but after slowing my toe stall down it got better.

Umm, flip clipper is getting more comfortable I think?

My back needs to get to a gym. desk job + footbag are too much. Also I love the gym for its own sake, so it's a shame I haven't been lifting.

Flip clipper definitely improving. Hit inf>ss butter> rpt. Did a fair bit of alt clippers with different footworks. Trying to stay on my toes. Hit ripwalk bsos, followed by some screwing around with stepping sets. First good flip stepping sets in Montreal. Umm, got more work in on my flip pixie, trying to get either plo>smear>rpt or smear>plo>rpt. I'll get it next time. Meanwhile, pixie sets are still improving.

I've gotten into a real bad habit of hand catching all of my good runs. My endurance is shit and won't improve this way. I'm gonna put my money where my mouth is (was) and drop for five pushups every time I do this. I expect to be broken of the habit by the end of Thursday's session.

I really like footbag.

Such a good session today at the tam tam. First time I've had that in-the-zone feeling in a long time. First time I've been at the tam tam too. Maybe it'll be a good place for me.

I hit dbl switchover for the first time ever on my first try ever. I hit it again later, but not flip. Hit both smashers, first time in a loooooooooooong time for each of them. Hit fear for the second time ever in one or two tries. Footed dimwalk swirl in my only attempt (that's my goto trick when I'm feeling good - I only ever try it once). Hit all sorts of little combos, stuff like smear > ss symp mirage or ripwalk > blur. Strings were on by the end of the session. Nothing fantastic, but it's nice to do things other than legover > miraging drop.

Woooooooooooo.

I'm going to do my best over the next few weeks to start every turn with one of the following:

Flip osis > something other than ss clipper or pickup
a 'hard' flip pixie trick (magellan, ss mirage/pickup, park/dim)
an 'easy' fairy or atomic trick (ss pickup/mirage)
all four DLOs

I properly set>spun>spotted the bag today for the first time in a little over 8 years of playing. Hit gyro clipper a few times. I stayed composed when it happened (it's just gyro clipper), but I was doing backflips on the inside. Gyro/spinning stuff will be my end-session singles attempts for the next while. Too much time lately messing with stuff I "can hit" but can't integrate into my actual game.

I'm enjoying every session, I have ideas about where I want my game to go, and I see and feel progress toward these goals every week. Does footbag get any better?
