yeah, thanks for the replys, Im actually working on a video now, that will be more "hardcore" that will show me really trying to play footbag at my best.
expect it in like a week or so.
yeah i wasnt trying my hardest at all, in this video, and i didnt want to, hopefully the next one will live up to your expectations chris
p.s. i thought the loco was ankly, but still good a few others thought the same, Im taking all these comments with a grain of salt. So no worries.
montana training is in full circle now, so the video i was making is going to have to wait until after mfj, just had a long session, and there will be another one similar to it tomorrow.
this is what i did...these are not highlights, just how i drill, and how i plan to essentially drill. Reading this seems pretty simple, but putting this into action rather than plan is a lot harder than you would think, to get through all of this it usually takes me 2-3 hours everytime I play.

but thats my regimine preview, i have 4 other days planned out, each focusing on an aspect of my game, with it, ive gotten better in the last month, than i did in the past 6, so it seems to be working for me.

TRAINING for MFJ? Dude you need to slow shit down so I cannot look like a total N00B when i'm playing in a circle with you. Go focus on school or something BTW, I booked my ticket tonight so I'm going for sure.
I thought that video was really really solid. Lots of bothsided runs with good length, lots of genuine links. I don't think there's a need for a 2nd video with you really straining to hit bigger tricks/links, I don't like those videos as much. You've gotten good at drifters... and blenders too. But yeah like people said, more spins. I know you've got solid spins, so let's see em.
Really looking forward to kicking it again at MFJ. Don't feel jealous I'm choosing the Topaz over your piece of tin, it was purely flight related.
It's funny because I just finished posting in my blog that I'm going to purposely post "real" footage instead of "best of" footage as often as I can (goal is maybe twice per month to post). Reason being is that "best of" already is cool, so you get props, but not tips in a lot of cases. Whereas "real" (every day/average/whatever you want to call it) footage gets great pointers that can really help you.
All that said, I liked the footage. You're actually hitting a lot of stuff that I'm 50/50 on right now, so it was kind of cool to see how I might look once I stop dropping so damn much. I also really liked how you did a lot of dynos rather than straight osis. I thought your ducks/dives could be a teense deeper, but that was more for looks/style than anything. Overall, I thought you showed good both sidedness, and good control.
so, ive been doing this new regimine, and I must say that its working awesomly
i hit my first beast combo 2 days ago.
im playing footbag about 2 1/2 - 3 hours a day
im drilling swirls for about an hour or 2 a day (its about time i learned them)
im crosstraining about an hour a day.
today was really fun, i scouted out new places to kick, and i found this amazing park about 15 minutes bike ride from my house. I kicked there today and hit some really good stuff, it was probably the best session ive ever had ever.
I also had a youth leader come up to me and ask me if i would be interested in doing a demo one night for the kids he works with, i thought that was awesome. He told me he thought i was the best he had ever seen in his life (which didnt really surprise me, but it was a compliment none the less. and that was an ego boost which let me play for a good hour 1 1/2 more than i was going to play. Woot.
Im looking for a job again SAM C style! i rode my bike around all day today just exploring the town, it seems so much different when your on a bike than when your in a car, it seems like you see more that wasnt there before or something, either way it was really fun, and im going to go do it again tomorrow.
I hit my routines for us open for the youth leader guy, i had 2 drops in my new routine, and 1 drop in my main routine.
anyway, its time to go stitch a hacky.
im getting so stoked for mfj. Its like whenever you go to a tournament the rest of the things in your life go at a standstill, and it makes it so worth it, hanging out with people who your friends with, and have a common interest.
had a video, but my comp broke X.x, using my bros comp until he goes home for the summer, (2 weeks) and then it will be another 3 months or so before im near a computer again. I had about 3 minutes of a hardcore shred video done, with my new style (its changed quite a bit in the last couple months) but then my hard drive AND my screen on my computer went kaput >.< Im pretty sure i backed up all of my dvd footage onto my external HD so hopefully this doesnt mean the end of the 3 kings dvd. To everyone else, i will see you at Us open, and who knows maybe worlds , (ill be training hard!)
Hey man I know you haven't posted in your blog in forever, but I thought this was appropriate.
Last night I shredded with Curtis who won one of your prize bags from 2006 Texas States. He still has the bag and it's in great shape... camera photo here.
We shredded with it and he hit his usual insane stuff like...
-Scorpion's tail mid run first try
-Superduperfly first try, ottered
-Plasma
-Barroque
-Gyro Barroque, sketchy several times but verified clean once
-Gyro Shooting SS mirage, slurry but still awesome.
Plus some sweet toe 3-dexes like flurry and fairy DLO.
And of course I still have that green, orange and brown one that I play with every session.
EDIT: Oh I also footed mobius at the end of the session. Fun times.
nice Ben! I remember making that bag and thinking "This bag will last forever."
nice moves too
Its been a long while since i posted in here.
Idaho Jam went good i guess. Next year i will make it so much better though now that i know what its like to run an event.
despite contantly making sure things were going down okay, i managed to play some footbag. and hit a few things that ive been close to for a while but never managed to quite get.
Whirl>ps whirl>rpt
Ps whirl b2b
motion>blury whirl>motion
i was playing pretty decently at a tourney for once...which for some reason is i never do
So I guess this post marks my "triumphant" return? I dont know.
I guess for some reason I feel inclined to post here more again. It's been a while since I've been on here talking about me, or footbag or anything else so this might end up being somewhat of a long post. Or it might not be.
So as far as life goes, it's been a roller coaster of ups and downs. Jim Penske now lives with me which is awesome, how many people can say that they live with a world class footbagger? I've learned a lot from Jim watching him play, and him giving me advice ( more on that later).
I've now had a steady job for 8 months, but I'm unhappy there in a way. I do everything there, and there are people there that don't do half as much as me and they make more money than me. I feel like im doing grade A work, and im getting paid like an afterschool high school kid. I've asked for raises a few times now, and I usually get them, but so far I havent recieved this one. Im not sure if I will. Oh well, I start school again in January and I wont be able to work much anyway because of school.
Thats another topic all its own. School, I owe so much money to my school right now that Its about a 20% chance of me going back to school at the beginning of the semester. My only hope is that my rich uncle will bail me out and I can start going full time again. He is, although, a pretty cool guy and promised when i was in highschool to help me out if i ever needed it. So most likely he will, I will just owe him my soul in return, but for a good education i think in the long run it will be worth it.
Lately I havent been rediculously into footbag until recently, for some reason i got that spark back into me to get really good, so hopefully that turns out for the better. Me and Jim got this membership to a gym thats literally across the road from my current abode. I feel like im getting better, but I feel like i need to rework my form on a lot of things cause they arent quite right, especially my posture when im playing. I think i need to stand up straight even more. and learn how to make everything as effortless as possible. But thats what I always say, hopefully, eventually, ill get it down and ill be a good freestyler.
I dont know why, but I want it so bad, and I dont even know why. Like, for sure i know it has to due with a certain degree of respect that comes with being known as a good freestyler, but its also one of the only things that ive ever been really decent at (other than video games, but i dont really count those) and I want to get better, getting better to me IS fun, and I like to play to get better. It's slightly odd in a way to think about. Sometimes I think I try too hard and it doesnt help me as much as i would like it too, and makes me frustrated, and I think Jim recognizes when im frustrated and it brings him down a lvl which i dont like to do. But even though i AM frustrated, i am challenged to hit something, that i know i can hit. And even if it takes me 10 tries to hit it I always make sure i do before i end my session, cause that makes the game fun to me.
Basically what it boils down to is, If this game wasn't really challenging, I probably wouldnt be that into it as I am now.
After 3 years of living in a crappy apartment in Boise, over this thankgiving weekend Me, Jim, Zac, and my other roomate are finally moving into a house, I'm more excited about that than anything else thats going on for me right now. I've grown really sick of not being able to kick inside my apartment because of the neighbors downstairs, and the fact that they smoke, and it seeps through the air ducts in the winter and stinks up my apartment. Or the neighbors to the left of me which hold raves nightly, and host football party's every friday that seem to last until the wee hours of the morning every day. I cant wait to actually have my own bedroom as well, instead of a living area thats been converted into a bedroom.
Its funny the topic title i made for this blog, i made it several months ago, like last july or something, but i made it mainly to remind my self of what i need to become succesful at the things i want to do, and that topic title is still helping me. I need to dedicate myself more to the things i love, and focus on them to help achieve a better outcome.
I'm in a really content mood lately, the bad things arent bothering me to horribly, and im not getting too worked up about the good, instead im just taking it in stride, and going at it one day at a time.
Im glad ive been basically gone for a while. I was getting to wrapped up in this forum, and i felt like what was doing was getting more negative judgment than positive. But now i feel like i can contribute more, and hopefully help people that are like me when i was first beginning, and full of questions.
If you took the time to read that jumbled mess of run-on sentances and ranting. I applaud you.
