Alright, if you're looking for highlights and stuff, you can stop reading because I don't have any with me. This is more of a personal post with a bit of Footbag stuff thrown in.

I've really been enjoying living on my own. It's pretty fun. I get lonely sometimes though. I wish my fiance was with me, but we're waiting. I'm happy that way, but it's soo lonely. Enough sulking. The drive to work is getting a bit annoying and the gas prices suck, but whatever.

In happier news, my fiance surprised me the other day and told me she has been looking into going to world's as our honeymoon! When I suggested that I was only joking. At first I was pretty sure we couldn't make it, but she was pretty adament that we should go. She tries so hard to make me happy. :) I love her soo much. Anyways, I think we are gonna try to get a loan so we can go. I'm not sure I like that idea, but she's positive she wants to go and I've wanted to go world's ever since I started playing. I thkn it will be insane for this to be my first REAL event. NUTS! I'm excited. I hope it all works out. I think she's going to try for the loan in a few days. I haven't played in a long time(over a week), but I wanna play later tonight. Hopefully. I need to work out a shred30 and then maybe a routine. I wanna focus on shred30. I think. I dunno. I'm not very artistic. Or musical so syncing something to music seems really hard. I think I'll give it a try though. I might as well try everything I can while I'm there. :D I plan to try not to spend too much time shredding. Even though I wanna hang out with everyone a ton, this is gonna be my honeymoon and I don't wanna ignore her. She's made it clear she wants me to footbag and enjoy myself as much as I want, but I wanna spend time with her too! She's so awesome. Today I was saying that I want summer to come so I can enjoy footbag and play outside and stuff and she said she can't wait for summer either. Why? Because she wants to be married to me and watch me play footbag and take me to the World Championships. She is SO great.

I've been playing with Eskimo Joe's bag. It's great. I like a lot. My fiance told me she wants me to play every night, at least for a little bit, so I think I'll try to. I wanna go back and school the basics some more. A lot more before worlds. My shred30 will mostly be two's. Unless I have a major breakthrough soon. I like footbag. I wish I could get modified on my cell, or wish that I could get a computer and watch video's on it. I have to come to my mom's house to check modified and try to watch some vids while I'm here. I like cake.

No footbag for me recently. I'm sick. My throat is inflamed and I can hardly talk. No, I can't talk. the most I can produce is a weak whisper. This has meant no footbag. I've been debating wheather I should play anyway. Apart from the pain in my throat my body feels fine. So far I have been able to curb my need for footbag by playing Pokemon games. I love them. I'm working on FireRed and Emerald so that I'll have some pokes to transfer into Pearl when I get it.

I didn't go to work yesterday because selling products and solving customers computer problems is very difficult with no voice. I hope it's better by wednesday when I work next. I can't afford to miss any more work. World's is looking more and more like a passing dream.

Three days and I will be a married man

Post by sen »

Hey everyone.

Just thought I'd pop in and write a bit in my blog. Not much to report on the footbag side of things. Other than I've been feeling the itch an awful lot lately. I'm thinking of times and places I'll be able to play in the next few days. Sadly, I'm not coming up with many.

I'm getting married on saturday. That's less than three days away. Crazy! I'm stoked about getting married. I understand that most people generally feel pretty worried about getting married. I don't know if worried is the right word, but whatever. I'm just happy about it. I love Natel and can't wait to truly begin sharing my life with her. Right now my kitchen is full of boxes of her stuff and presents from wedding showers. That contributes to my lack of footbag recently. No where to play. Anyways, within the next few weeks, I hope to have things put away and generally in order. I can't wait to start living with my dream girl and getting my life together again. Things have been crazy lately . . .

I have too many projects on the go. Most of them pretty insignificant. The most important is, of course, my wedding. I'll admit that my part in the planning is very small, but it's still been taking some time. What other projects am I working on? I'm currently in the early process of writing a comic book. If anything comes of it, I'll let the modified community now. The other "project" isn't really a project at all. It's just a game. POKEMON! I got it on April 22, the day it came out here. Since then I have spent over 112 hours on it. Wow. I have an extremely addictive personality. I've beaten the main game, but am far from finished with it. Anyone out there play? I'm hoping to do some wifi battles eventually.

Anyways, I'm thinking about going to Shredmonton so I gotta get in shape for that. I definatley won't be in competing form, but oh well. It should be fun. It'll be the closest thing to a honeymoon we'll get. Should be sweet. It'll also be the first real event I go to. I don't really count the S'toon Jam, even though it helped me TONS!

OK, I'm out. Drop me a line if you remember me.

I remember you! :P

Good luck with the wedding! Sounds like you are really happy and that's so important.

How are the world's plans coming, still in the cards?

It sounds like this year is going to be pretty huge! :)

Thanks Tom. It's hard to believe I'm getting married in two days. It's sweet. I wish we could make it to world's, but the funds just aren't there. Natel even tried to get a loan, but it was a no go. Oh well. I think I'm going to ShrEdmonton. You should come out for it. I'd love to meet you in person and shred with you.

I had a session today. Played at Bud Miller park in Lloyd (the city where I work and spend most of my time, a 50 minute drive from home). It was good. I mostly just messed around and got my legs working. near what I thought was the end of my session, I landed on my instep and went down pretty hard on a pixie whirl. A guy that was biking by saw me and came over. As I lay there stretching my leg he told me that I was pretty hard-core and good at hack. I got up and we talked about how long I had been playing and stuff. Normally that fall might have ended the session. Especially since I was close to done anyways, but I had a captive audience so I dropped the bag to my toes and kept going. He noticed the bag was different than his and he asked where I got it. I told him it was hand stitched and that I got it from a guy in the Northwest Territory (I hope that's where Eskimo Joe is from). I showed it to him and got off his bike and asked if he could try it out. I said sure, just don't toe scrape it. He said he won't let anyone do that to his either. Cool! We played for a about half an hour together. He was really impressed by some of my moves. Osis and pendulum really seemed to impress him. By the end of the session I had told him about ShrEdmonton and footbag.org and he said he would check it out. I think he might even come to ShrEdmonton. 8O

I'm trying not to get my hopes up much, but he may be my first shred partner. He said he'd watch for me at the spot where I was. Gives me a reason to keep going back. Awesome!

A few highlights:
 spinning ducking clipper
 ps whirl
 symp whirls that felt like floating (I hope they looked like it too)
 some decent legthed strings

Today's the Day

Post by sen »

Jeez, three hours till my wedding and here I am posting on a Footbag website. I guess it's appropriate, considering our honeymoon is going to be ShrEdmonton. Anyways, yesterday was the Rehersal. I don't really know what I'm doing, but it'll be good. Found out this morning that my cousin and her boyfriend ARE coming, even though they didn't RSVP. That means I had to figure out a way to fit them into the seating arrangment and find food for them for supper. Stupid! It pisses me off when people are inconsiderate and don't think about the people trying to plan things. Anyways, made a call and it should be all good now.

I gotta focus on better things. Last night my soon to be Brother-in-law took me and some guys out. We played some pool and had some pop (none of us really drink). When we went to pay there was a big line up and about twenty guys searching the floor. Some drunk guy had taken the 'OK' button from the debit machine keypad and no one could pay. The atm in the place was also broken. I figured, hey, they just need a rubber contact, so I grabbed my keys and took my little light apart. I gave it to the waitress and told her that it should help. She was so happy. The stupid drunk guy almost had her in tears. But I saved the night. Macgyver rocks.

I'm going to get married. Peace out.

I want to star playing again. I need to find the time and energy to play. I am quickly becoming, or feeling like an old fat guy. I need to play!

You should check out Bob Riefer's blog. It's called "Bob R" and the poster is "Rieferman." He recently got back into footbag, and I think he's got a very good approach. I hope you get back into the sport; it's such a good sport and there are so many good people in the community.

Good luck Tony.

Thanks for the replies Peng and Ken.

I'll go take a look at Bob's blog. I remember reading it a while ago. I still haven't laced up the Quantums, but I'm thinking about getting a gym membership soon. I don't have anywhere else I can play. Hopefully that will work out. I need to play.

Leave a comment if you want.

Hey Tony, Glad to hear you're getting back into it. Thanks for commenting in my blog, it feels good that some people are reading - it makes me feel a little bit a part of the community. :-)

Ken, also makes me feel good that you'd hold my approach up as a good example. I must be doing something right!

Back to Tony. In my opinion, when you're searching for a spot to play, make sure it's someplace where you feel totally comfortable working on stuff that you suck at. For me, it's my barn (which I retro fitted for heat). If I were to play at the YMCA (if you don't have YMCA's around you, it's a non-profit organization that runs gyms/pools/fitness programs) I always feel like I need to put on a show, so I just end up practicing stuff I can already do >> but that's not the point.

Good luck! I'll be reading. Congrats on the wedding too!!

Thanks for checking it out Bob. I know what you mean about the Shred spot. My arpatment is UBER small. And there is hardly room to turn around, let alone have a decent session. I don't have a barn so I can't set up a heat tent in it. Great idea, by the way. Sounds like I'll be getting a membership starting in January so I got a month to figure out another spot to play. (No YMCA near me)

I live an hour from work so it doesn't work so great for having time to play.

So. I didn't sleep at all last night. I spent the entire time crying. Right before I went to sleep my mom came and told me she probably has cancer. I haven't been the nicest to my mother lately. Ever since she remarried I've been rude and short with her. On that note, about a month ago her husband left her. She was super depressed and then last week she finds out she's dying. Good stuff. I really don't know why I'm writing this in here. Maybe just to get it out.

Anyways, I got married about six months ago and life has been crazy since then. Just adjusting to living with someone else and like, trying to get along all the time, plus all this other stuff going on. It's crazy. I really think that when I start playing again it'll help me out.

Thanks for reading. If you did.

thanks for the replies and kind comments guys.

At about ten o'clock I had my first session in about five months. My legs are badly out of shape. Everything hurt because I haven't been using these muscles regularly. I only played for about half an hour, but I accomplished what I set out to do:

left atw i/o x20
left atw o/i x20
right atw i/o x20
right atw o/i x20
right clip x20
left clip x20
alternating clip x20

None of it was consecutive, but I just wanted to work through them, getting the muscles working again. The biggest surprise was hitting the first 16 left clippers consecutively, that's pretty huge for my flip side.

The only other thing of note was strong dimwalk.

ps This was done in my arpartment kitchen where there is barely room to turn around.

Ya. There is no Maidstone scene per say. Actually, currently there isn't ANY shredders in the town. Hopefully I'll start up again soon. I have been meaning to, but I can't seem to find the motivation at the moment. It seems that footbag involves too much energy. Way more than playing Star Wars Mini's, Smash Bros, or old X-wing games.

Soon.

Thanks for the comment Andrew. I appreciate. If anyone has some thoughts about finding motivation, just let me know. I won't blame the lock of motivation on being solo because Hen might attack me.

Played twice in the last two days!

all 4 atw's ten times
dimwalk bs
whirl bs
spinning clip bs
ducking clip>ducking clip
spinning whirl
symp whirl

Lot's of kicking and messing around. Trying to take it slow. The burning in my legs is actually a welcome feeling at this point. I woke up this morning and felt it, and said to my legs, "It feels good to feel you in that way. It's been far too long."

Here's hoping I last longer this summer!
