yeah colin i saw that im was missing cause i thought that was the original text, so i just added it there, the point still went across though i think.

any way, making modified more stupid is a waste of time, we need to make this more of a resourceful place imho, and bogging this forum down, bogs the community down, imho.

but how we go about doing that is seems to be the problem.

-what can people spam and get away with?
-How much tolerance must the mods take before taking action upon a user?
-should someone who is a "repeat offender" be perminantely banned for spamming/trolling?

the rules on modified have always been so vague :?

thats because a lot of people think there shouldnt be ANY rules (since its an international, public forum, and some things that you cant even comfortably talk about online (thank you patriot act) in some countries arent even illegal in others, and different cultures/people/etc are more sensitive about different things), while some think there should be very strict rules, if they're particularly offended by some topics, or are sensitive to those that may be offended or negatively influenced (especially the younger modifiers) by certain topics/language.

yeah no?

the easiest way i have found, is to just ignore/not post/not look at the posts that will either make you mad, or offend you.

easier said than done though, when you see something that you know you dont like, you almost feel obligated to post there.

thanks dylander :) that was a response I was looking for.

I have a serious question though, like this isnt a joke, im being serious (its hard to tell on the internet so im just being clear)

if modified is a community first and a recource second, then is it okay if we have some perverts, and some a-holes living in our community? What if old man jenkins was tellin little kids he likes to get bjs from hot blonds? (if you were a parent, you would make sure those kids never spoke to old man jenkins.)

isnt whats going on right now technically the same thing?

and shouldnt we have some sort of neighborhood watch program? ( ok, so that was kind of a joke, and we pretty much already have a neighborhood watch program.)

The community establishes its values in its rules.

It seesm to me that what you want to discuss is going on in the other thread started by shredzilla

The example you use is also overstating what is actually occuring.

Also is it the age gap that is the problem here? If childern in a schoolyard are overheard talking about blowjobs and sex in the schoolyard by parents is that equally inappropriate? Would they pull them from the school preventing access to its resources or simply tell them to choose better more mature friends within it? Obviously it will depend on a lot of factors.

Furthermore is it not possible for users to accept responsibility for themselves - if you are a child or in a situation where you are around a parent or employer or whatever who is going to punish you in some way for viewing certain material surely you can simply avoid it. Modified is fairly well regimented in that respect - that is to say the resources are separated from the other stuff. If you are caught looking at the other stuff and subsequently are barred from looking at the resources then that is your own fault so long as the regimented structure of the forums hasn't been breached. Those in the community who wish to talk about mature subject matter (even if they wish to do so in a somewhat immature manner - within reason) should not necessarily be prevented from doing so because certain individuals disapprove but still want to be able to use modified's resources.

Also children in nunneries have footbag.org and probably don't have internet access. Sorry, I've been pretty mature over all, and clearly do take this matter seriously, surely I'm allowed a moment of glibness.

This all said, I am not necessarily opposed to a stricter policy on this matter than already exists and think discussion about it can potentially improve the clarity with respect to what is and isn't allowed.

We should move this discussion into the other thread so I will copy and paste your question and my response there.

Sorry, I should have worded that better, I never intended to move this thread anywhere - what I meant was that I'd quote Zeb and my post in the other thread where it is also relevant.
