Hey!! We arent permanant on this band name yet, but for now we are usin it. It's just me and Chelsea Bunn, but oh what a pair we make for music. I'm totally crushing on her and last night we fell asleep next to each other after hours and hours of band practice. I'm so happy to be her friend.
Here is one of the 3 tracks we have started recording so far. This one isnt even done.
Ive redone my vocals multiple times, and this is the first time Chel has ever recorded her voice ever!! She did so well I know the next time she records shes gonna be even more skilled. Like footbag!! So fucking cool. Also, I am proud to say I have made some good progress on the volume levels, and have not even begun to use fx on the various tracks which I have decided to try in post production. You know, compressing and limiting the vocals and what not. I'm gonna render the song as its seperate parts and then reconstruct it in adobe audition cs3 and see whatsup. ANYWAY.. lol I'm all geeking out here.
I'm really proud of this. I hope you enjoy, and please leave feedback because its not done yet. If you dont like it, thats okay, just know that I love this song and nothing you can say will make me not like it, so feel free to say whatever you want and I won't get mad. Suggestions rock too though cuz maybe I'll agree with you.
Aight, more than enough said.

who is playing lead guitar? it's a cool melody. i like the beat.
edit:
dammit. I did not mean to press submit.
edit2:
I can't believe I just did that twice.
For me, it is important that the meaning of the vocals be somewhat aligned with the vibe of the music, and for me, I am not able to get a consistent message from the lyrics (at least not in the first half of the song, because I've paused it). Consequently, I feel like the music is just existing as a support structure for the lyrics, as opposed to a co-existing focal point that is part of the message.
edit3:
and once more...
basically, every time I mean to stop the song, I accidentally press submit.
I like how the music builds from a techno thing to a rock thing a lot. as I was busy criticizing the lyrics and delivery, the rock thing snuck up on me, I like the live-sounding drum beat a lot.
now to listen to the rest.
the aggressive delivery is cool over the rock part. I didn't like it so much over the techno part.
I really like what it evolved into. I like the drop in feel right after 3 minutes.
hmm... the focus of the lyrics is losing me again.
I understand everything you're saying, I'm just not left with a message from the song.
As the music goes, it's all over the map, and I really like that. I like the development and the build and the variety and the guitar playing. I particularly liked the build, I thought you started with a sweet smooth vibe and built it into this big aggressive thing with good transition, and brought it down at the end while maintaining the energy. Having good, interesting movement is definitely commendable in my book.
as the lyrics go, they're all over the map, and I don't like that. I like to be communicated to, and when I don't perceive an overall message, I don't feel communication with the lyricist.
Overall: The lyrics weren't for me. duh. so I'll focus on the positive. The music was really sweet. You showed off a lot of the different styles that you can play, and used tasteful technicality for the open playing. Sounded like there weren't major (or any that I can think of) mistakes, and it had good continuity.
I guess I'd say that, in the future, I'd like you to tell me a story, or seek to inform me about something, or let me know all about your opinion about a particular thing, etc etc.
I feel like this is about as harsh and honest a critique as I could have given, and I hope you know that I'm doing it to respect what I think is your desire for people to do that. I listened to your stuff really closely. i'm glad you made it and look forward to hearing more.
I will now listen to the rest.
hmm... it started over. I don't understand how the vibe of those vocals at the beginning is supposed to fit with the song. am I supposed to think your song has a silly or whimsical side? that doesn't go with the melody or style of the music to me.
The lyrics seem like they're without a driving force. Seems kinda like random stream of consciousness, but the delivery and the music are those of something that's supposed to be taken seriously, so it sounds kinda contrived to me.

I just started listening, and can't go in depth too much, but you do know that you if you're an artist on myspace that you can change your url, right? Just go to 'edit profile' then click 'listing info' then you can change the url from ".com/the34butterflies" to ".com/openthegate," or whatever else you want. I like what I hear so far. My favorite is Policy of Greed so far.
