My god, these are the worst all-star jerseys I've ever seen in my life. The west has white on the front, gold on the back, and the east has blue on the front, and white on the back. Who's idea was this? Having the same color on both jerseys? Depending on which way people face, I can't tell who is on what team. Whoever came up with this needs to be fired. This is totally unacceptable.

Ray Allen was robbed. Still, it was a fun game towards the end. Tied with 2 minutes to go, people seemed motivated, which I enjoyed watching.

Shaq was moving well in his first game back. I've upgraded my status to tentatively excited, if that even makes sense.

Yeah, I'd say last night was a good sign. But I'm hesitant to say any more. Shaq definitely did seem quite healthy, and he clearly was grabbing boards in the second half... But the entire first half and even ni the second they kind of looked out of sync. Again, this entire deal will hinge on the chemistry between Shaq and his team.

There was a series where Nash just gave the ball to Shaq like 3 times in a row. I think they got 4 points out of it.

Anyways I liked what I saw. The Lakers are probably the best team in Basketball right now, so for the Suns to come in with a new dimension to get use to and give them a really competetive game, I think the signs are promising. This could still wind up being a very bad trade though.

Now that I've seen so much Calderon I don't find Nash that impressive.

Also, despite all the talk about Howard being the next great big Bosh made him look like a little bitch last night.

It's hard to compare point guards when they play on different teams, because they play with different personnel and under different systems. Nash has played the last few years with a running team that has athletic wings who are good at finishing. When he was in Dallas, he didn't have people he could throw alley-oops to, and the system there wasn't as committed to running. Is Chauncey better than Nash? For the Pistons system, probably yes. For the Suns system, definitely not.

So, the Sun's handily beat the Celtics, the supposed number one team in the East; and then get blown out (Like really blown out) by the Pistons, the supposed number two team in the East. Now I've always thought the Piston's were better than both these teams, but what does it say about all 3 teams involved? IMO:

The Pistons are a top 5 team in the NBA (LA, Utah, San Antonio, Houston being the others, in no order)

The Celtic's are not an NBA finals bound team

The Sun's have a long ways to go, and probably are also not finals bound.

I think these will be the 8 teams coming out of the West this year, in order of wins/losses:

San Antonio
LA
Utah
Houston
Phoenix
New Orleans
Dallas
Golden State

I would love watching Golden State go up against the Spurs as an eighth seed again, even though I think Duncan (And now Kurt Thomas) would kill them down low in ways that Dirk never will be able to.

For the Finals, I predict Utah Vs Detriot, but I could see San Antonio or LA also representing the West. Houston is another team that a lot of people (Including myself) gave up on. But with 2 big men, one who can post up and knock down a 15 footer, and another who can play anywhere from a 1 to a 4 spot, along with a strong supporting cast, this is a team that could match up well with the other 3 teams from the West that I already mentioned.

-Acie Law-decent point guard who should be coming into his own as Bibby is going out of his

-Zaza Pechulia-6'11 280 pound back-up for Horford

This is talented group of young players that I think are gonna be contenders in the future.

You're forgetting about Marvin William's too who is an absolute fucking force, and also very young. I actually know him from his days of living here in Bremerton, and we kicked it for a little while a couple weeks ago when he was here to play the Sonic's.

But yeah the Hawk's are going to be good.

The Hawks have potential, especially because they play in the eastern conference. Marvin Williams has developed very nicely this year. I think their real problem is lack of a big man, and lack of veteran experience. The Bibby trade was great for them, because they didn't give up much to get him. JJ is good, but I feel he lacks the killer instinct. Josh Smith is probably their best player imo.

Oh, and breaking news: Yao is out for the season with a foot injury. No way does Houston make it out of the first round this year, assuming they even make the playoffs now.

Wow, I don't know if I've ever been more wrong. But then, I don't think anybody expected the Rockets to win 22 games in a row. They went from 10th in the West to 1st. Very impressive. I still don't know if I see them winning a playoff series.

I've been saying for weeks than Washington State was gonna upset UNC, and with 10 minutes gone in the game, I think I'm gonna be right. WSU needs to keep confusing UNC defensively and getting turnovers and just grind it out offensively. This is going to be a really hard game for WSU if they're going to win it.

Also, not to toot my own horn (Beep Beep) but my predicted Western conference standings are pretty fucking current. The only two I missed were New Orleans and San Antonio, but most every team is in the same place I said they'd be and I'm confident said two will work themselves out.

They lost the game for themselves. UNC played like garbage, but I guess deserve credit for some decent defense and not playing as bad as WSU.
