Me and Cam were chattin on the INTERNET and we realized we need a new subforum called the playpen where all the crazies can get sent if they are too bad.
So its like they get banned from the regular forums and are only allowed to post in the playpen.
Being able to see the playpen forum could even ben unchecked by default so new users wouldnt even have to be exposed to it. + you could move all the crazy threads there too.
yeah?

Initially I thought it's a bad idea, making the mods work harder, but it actually has some merit. The mods shift topics from public forums to visible forums, thus creating much less argument and controversy than banning users or deleting/closing their topics.

People are arguing about threads being moved to the Discussion section right now; I would imagine there would be bigger complaints if threads were moved to the PlayPen (if not everyone agreed that they belong there). And if the mods aren't busting people in private right now for posting things they shouldn't and being annoying asses, it doesn't seem any more likely that they'll punish those people publicly by putting them in an area for "bad" posters.

I don't like the idea - there is a reason that there are rules on modified - most of the community feels that certain things are never OK to be posted here. Having a section where anything goes undermines that.
I think having the discussion and the footblogs as "less moderated" sections is enough, if users want to go even further than they are allowed in discussion and footblogs they simply have to go elsewhere. If they disagree with the standards of behaviour established in the rules they are always open to discussion, but if users repeatedly flout those rules they also would be better off going elsewere.
