Far Reverse Swirl/Twist

Post by beenjammin »

Ouch! Any tips for stuff like symposium blink and rev up? The swirling dex on symp blink is like a whirl in my eyes only the dex is tweaked across your body so it would make sense to do the dex by pulling strait back towards your butt. Im afraid to try this flipside how would you work up to something like this?

Far Reverse Swirl

Post by EoghanMcDowell »

can anyone give me tips on this trick? I've been schooling reverse swirls lately and i think i might be able to hit this soon, but the motion just doesn't register after i set. Any pointers?

just writing to support guido. That's really all there is to it. Get the near ones down pat, and the far ones will be a lot easier.

maybe also try practicing symp illusions to get the feel?

try practicing symp illusions
I would love to, but my regular illusions aren't even that good, so i think it will be a while before i can hit that. I can't even hit symp mirage consistently. Should i get those down before i go for harder tricks like far rev swirl and other things?

I think legovers are actually better for far rev swirls than illusions. I would recommend working specifically on dlo and eggbeater moves. Far swirl/rev swirl are a lot like a dlo or an egg beater - or specifically the last dex of those moves. You want to plant and then start that dex as early as possible - and definitely symple style Also try and stand straight on it, I know I have the problem of hunching for symple swirl moves, and it makes them harder.

Good luck.

If I really concentrate on making my foot not hit the ground, I've had more success with symple swirl. Maybe it's the same with reverse?

I thought I would add more to this coz I'm drunk.

Personally I don’t agree that symple leg over (or illusions) helps with this, just like I don't think symple leg overs help with DLOs or Eggs. I mean, it may help building leg strength but DLO, Eggs and clip symple are a single concepts and you should visualise it as such, not as a dex + symple LO.

Something that really helps with really any paradox style move (or fast clip set move) is to flick the set. Try to limit the hop of your support leg to a bare minimum for the set. Flick may be the wrong term.

This gives you considerable more time for the downtime component, especially when the downtime component is symp/symple (because you don't have to deal with the stress of landing + jumping). I think Jeremy mentions this in a stepping ducking thread and its one of the best tips for fast clipper moves (This statement neutralises my disagreement and makes me Switzerland).

Anyways, rev swirl moves (rev swirl, symp rev sail, swivel, far swivel, twirl, rev up, etc) are really easy conceptually but they are all really hard to put consistently into strings as they are much slower than swirls both uptime (rev swirl is almost impossible uptime, with the exception of freaks like Jorden) and also downtime.

Anyways, back to the beers.
