shredzilla wrote:Well, you people have obviously missed my point entirely. You have no concept of respecting people's space. I don't care if Tsangsun or whatever his name is happens to be 'on a roll' lately, or people just love how edgy Switch can be with his 'logic', I believe people should respect each other's space, and this isn't a sex forum, it's a footbag forum.
I respect people's space. Cyber space is a different story. There is not space to respect, only people. I respect people that don't give me a reason not to. As for that space thing... what space of yours have I disrespected? You're bitching about reading my topic...that means you're bitching in MY topic... MY space... Cyber space anyway. The only invasion of "space" here is the people spamming up my thread. Did I PM you a link to my topic? No.
shredzilla wrote:Less than half of you that voted feel otherwise, fine. What's honestly hilarious to me though is that we have such strict rules against things like "Oh that's so GAY!" and "You're being a retard!". The reason for the rule is that it offends people. But it doesn't offend me, so why should I have to curb MY language for the sake of other people? You people are just blatant hypocrites with this stuff.
I don't see anyone around here calling anyone else names... So I don't know what you're talking about.
shredzilla wrote:The point is I would choose NOT to say gay or retard if I knew it offended a good deal of the users of the forum, even if I didn't have a problem with it myself. It's called respect. Something that Tkun and Switch and all of those guys lack. Period.
You're talking about name calling. You can't call someone "sex." You're not making sense. You're comparing a topic that you didn't like, to degrading names used to make fun of gay people and mentally challenged people. What fucking connection can you make there?

And if you already know this, then I would assume you mean it's degrading to someone, somewhere, to talk about sex... but how can that be degrading if it completely natural, that's like saying the human race is degrading.

As someone said somewhere else about this. It's not like I'm on the intercom at school announcing a poll in the cafeteria for your favorite sex position. You don't wanna read it, DON'T READ IT.
shredzilla wrote:I know I said previous would be last, but I felt I was due at least one rebuttal on Switch's post, and I never got to use that analogy in this thread, and it's been bugging me for some time. Oh and I wasn't reading it Switch. I don't find the material as disgusting as your utter lack of respect for others. Okay done. Feel free to continue being retar..er I mean illogical.
Yeah, I strongly suggest that be your last input on this matter, unless you decide to come back with an argument that has some valid points, and actually has to do with the matter itself. (What the fuck does this have to do with name calling?)

What if someone posts something so ambiguous that nobody is sure if they should be offended or not ?

"Look dude, swapping recipes is one thing, but taking hard salami to a gravy train is entirely inappropriate !"

Similarly maybe the internet really doesn't need to know who fired one across the bow, or who screamed "HIT ! You sunk my battleship. ".

I guess, I don't know. Sometimes it's hard to tell where the line in the sand is.

You don't see anyone calling anyone names because we aren't allowed.

What is the connection? You are still missing Chris' point. Chris must obviously use "gay" and "retard" in his everyday language but follows the rules here, because he understands that it offends most of the users here. Chris wants you and the others to understand that explicitly sexual topics offend most people here and talk about it elsewhere in respect to the other users. Two different topics, two similar situations. Get it?

One is in the rules, and the other is not. One is avoidable by choosing not to read it, and the other can come out of no where in any topic.

There is no connection between the two.

My point is, the rule of 'gay' and 'retard' is there because it offends people. Since sexually-explicit topics offend people, there should be a rule...

Haha I'm gonna have to start drawing pictures if you don't get it this time.

A gun shot wound inflicts pain. It can injure and kill people.

A flu shot also can inflict pain, but it is not dangerous, harmful, or lethal in any way.

Just because two things have one thing in common doesn't mean those two things can be put into a similar catagory.

Just because both sexual discussion and derogatory names are offensive to some people, doesn't mean they are equally "bad."

Derogatory names are inappropriate, and just plain wrong, public or private. There's right, and their's wrong. "Social" right and wrong are illusions. It's both wrong, and socially wrong to use derogatory names.

It's only socially wrong to have a sexual discussion in a public place, that doesn't mean it's wrong, however.

But, as stated before. It's not a public place. It's the internet. You can choose to listen to what we have to say about sex, or not. Just like how you can choose to click that porn advertisement, or not.

So... still... Your name calling arguement still doesn't make any sense. You might as well be telling me that thrusting a railroad spike into someone's kneecap is offensive. It just doesn't have a point related to this issue.

Haha dude you are funny. So it's only socially wrong to have a sex talk in a public place, BUT that doesn't mean it's wrong, however.

But as stated before, It's not a public place. It's the internet. (wait, so the internet's private??) You can choose to click that porn ad or not. Yeah but I don't WANT porn ads in Modified. It's footbag, not porn. Except for SKB, he's always advertising stuff like that. Your logic keeps going in small circles.
