Hey Barrett,

Just wanted to give you huge ups for putting all of this together. From what I've seen your communication has been great and the publicity will be even better (did you get my interview msg?). Don't worry if people don't "know you", because that's what we'll get to do when we arrive. Everyone will surely know you after this one!!

I've never ran a tourney before, but I'd say the job you're doing is un par with any of the organizers out there. Keep your cool bro, this weekend will be great! :D

If it makes you feel better, I wouldn't have made it without the sponsorship. Tom is working till late afternoon on Fri so his ride aint an option. I'll be forking it our for the bus.

I'll send you my bus details tomorrow.

Cheers man. Hang in there!

Wow, what can I say... Everything went so well, tooo tooo too damn quick. Wish I was still hanging out with everyone. This summer we will have our second annual, and I hope I can count everyone who came to show up for that one and many more. I promise it will be bigger and better.
Here is our 2nd article in the Washington Square News, which was on the front page!

So I hung out with Timo last night... Played for 2 hours or so, my stamina is shot to shit. I couldnt breathe half of the time. More motivation to start schooling again... Timo made me try a few new tricks, and I got my foot on a few ducking butterflys and I hit a pixie butterfly (dimwalk?). I was pretty psyched. Also hit like 2 or 3 smears and a whirl or 2. Cant wait to tie up all the loose tournament ends and really start playing again...

PHILLLY

Post by Rabbit »

I have been busy as hell lately. Finally graduating though! Well kinda, I'm going to have one incomplete, for my Advanced Production Class. I have to show my teacher a cut of my documentary before I get a grade. Which is bullshit, but my own fault... Just more incentive to work on the doc... It's a documentary about the NYFA Freestyle Symposium, btw.

Besides that I will be in PHILLY from Christmas to maybe a week after New Years. Mostly working on my resume, but I will surely finally have time to play some footbag. I am very excited for that.

Kicked with Drew and Ken yesterday for a few hours but got interrupted by a friend/ ex-friend... I'm not sure which right now, got bitched out and ruined the one footbag day I get a week :( Girls are nuts, at least the girls that I am friends with...

In closing, Philly Shredders hit me up, I'll be home in a week!!!
Oh yea and the EAGLES beat the Cowgirls today :D finallllly they win a game!

Yo Barrett,
I live west of Philly in Collegeville (mapquest 19426). I even have a free guest pass for you to our YMCA (which is a great place to kick). So, if you'd be willing to come out to Collegeville, I'd be able to play. Just let me know

Congrats on graduation!

Congrats Barret!

I caught most of that Eagles / Cowboys game yesterday. Eagles defense looked awesome... held them to 6 points, no touchdowns. I can't see many Eagles games down here (heck I had to watch the Pats on webcast yesterday) so it was good to see them stick it to the Cowboys.

Anyway, good luck with finishing up your degree and finding a job. I would recommend signing up on http://www.linkedin.com it's like the Facebook of the business world. Great way to network and find jobs. I've been approached by recruiters on there and one of my friends recently landed an awesome job because a recruiter found him on there.

Happy Holidays :)

Congrats on the impending graduation. I can't wait to see your documentary when it's done. Looks like I won't be in the city for winter break, but I'll do my best to make it up during spring semester for a shred.

Barrett, you freakin' ROCK.

I laughed like crazy at the outtakes spoof. I was even more bewildered when I saw the actual interview.

Major props. :P

Barrett Got a JOB!!

Post by Rabbit »

First of all. GO GIANTS! god damn that was an amazing game. Sorry Pete and the rest of the boston crew, but wow. Only word to describe it is WOW.

And now for something completely different...

I had an interview today for the Production Coordinator position at Pangolin Pictures
http://pangolinpictures.com/
It went really well and they told me they had a few other people to interview and they would be in touch.
I head over to MTV doing some work for this doc about the Devil Dolls (A female bike club out of San Francisco)
Was sipping on Tea (Apple Cinnamon) one sugar.
I get a call from Pangolin not 3 hours after the interview and... I got the job. booya!
It seems that I will be leaving MTV :( but these guys seem awesome and I know I am going to learn a lot, I can't wait.

The game was a nailbiter, but I'm just livid about the outcome. But something we both can probably agree on, the commercials were a HUGE let down.

Crazy week

Post by Rabbit »

Guess Ill start with the weekend, had a lot on my mind, went to play footbag and forgot my damn shorts, lol. Had to play in pants :? . Hopefully next weekend Ill get a good session in.

Past that I have had a siiick week. Got a job annnnd... a girlfriend. Holy moley who would put up with barretts crap?! I know, thats what I'm wondering... I haven't had a girlfriend since highschool, through college I was more into the random hook-ups and casual dating. But Ashley is amazing, she is sooo cool, smart as hell and she puts up with my shenanigans. Its hard, I'm not the easiest person to deal with but she does... Ill try not to drive her too nuts. Maybe I will... its entertaining.

and its official NYFA is having another tourney!!! You should come!

What a weekend

Post by Rabbit »

Hey Everyone,

What a crazy weekend, first gotta say congrats on an amazing tourney to Adrienne. I am so glad I went.

A short write up,

Met up with WayWay at noon on friday, stood out in the cold with him for an hour or so waiting for Ted and Edna, which I decided to combine their names to make it Tedna. Its so much easier to say. 2 sylables instead of 4. Thanks for the ride Tedna! You guys are the best. :D

moving along,

After meeting up with them, we had a 4ish hour ride down to Maryland. Mostly listened to my Ipod but had an deep conversation about, if a monster ate our car (doesn't chew) would we be able to survive? (Discuss)

We came to the conclusion that as long as it wasn't a kimono dragon monster we would be alright...

we got down to Age's place and had some dinner and she took us to this discount store they have. Me and Age tried on some funky sunglasses (im gonna put the picture up tonight) and then i found the greatest, $3 hat since my epic $2 MTV hat of last summer. It says,

Everybody Loves a HOHO.

Now besides being one of the coolest hats ever, it has an extra special meaning to me because my best friend from home, his last name is Horan. And we called him HOHO, so I'm gonna give it to him next time I see him. Age really liked the hat too, and ended up wearing it the whole weekend, including during her routine I believe, which she did awesome! congrats to her.

After shopping we headed over to some club to see Vince Bradley's band play. We had a navegation system and somehow we still got lost. Dont worry Age, my sister does the same thing.

We finally got there after driving in circles, and there were only 2 songs left in the set :( . They were really good though, wish we got there earlier.

I was pretty psyched to see everyone there it was like a big family reunion. We took off and headed to Ken's place to go "drink", haha we got there and there were 6 beers in the fridge and no where to buy any more. Damn DC. Ken made sure I got a Sam Adam's though, my fav, thanks Ken!

Met Kens girlfriend who was super cool, she made us Guacamole and chips! Well she didnt make the chips, that would have been impressive. The guac was awesome and really hit the spot. After that a bunch of people went to the bar, unfortunately im poor and couldnt go. But I chilled with Bruce, Ken and his GF and Played Wii Bowling on a giant TV, really reminded me of the summer at Bruce's place.

People got back from the bar and played Super Smash Brothers for a while, and then everyone passed out.

DAY 2

We woke up in the morning and myself and Drew Krause decided we wanted to go find some girls, there had to be some right? Wrong! all we found is some big old guy, knocked on like every door in the building "looking for breakfast" and all we found was the RA. Should have asked him where his daughter was.

We went downstairs and tried to find a continental breakfast, but still no luck. No girls, no continental breakfast, what kind of Dorm is this. Ken took us over to this coffee shop that had some really good food. Then we headed over to the site.

It was a huge gym, and so many people were there. I was really glad that Clavens showed up, he always inspires me. Wish I would have joined a circle with him, but I'm pretty shy when I play. Just kinda stuck with the NYFA crew, or played by myself, I tend to do that at tourneys.

They convinced me to join the int. circle comp, I was hesitant, but I did it. It wasn't so bad, Drew 2 (Krause) gave me this talk about just having fun with it and using it as a learning experience and i think that helped.

Watching everyone else was great. Ken did really well, very happy for him. He took 1st in routine! Only 1 drop! When the drop happened I remember me and bruce just looked at each other and almost fell over. Sooooo close! I know how bad Ken wants that dropless routine, I know he'll get it soon. I'd love for him to have his first dropless at this summers NYFA Jam. It'll be his 11th anniversary, in the place he started! Looking forward to it.

After all that we had a bad ass game of Basketball, with Ken, Drew Martin, Drew Krause, Ian, and Jake. Ian is a maniac on defense, just want to say that, haha. He runs around flailing his arms making noises, I really hope someone got that on tape. It was awesome, hope we get to do it again.

After the game we went back to Age's apt where everyone was already getting their drink on. I promised Age that she could spike my mohawk (yea its kinda small but ill grow it out a little), just kinda decided on day that I wanted one and I did it. Doesnt look too bad.

We played this terrible mortal combat game, nothing like the old sega version, but... it had a chess game on it, which inspired everyone to play chess, so vince b ran home a got a few boards. Ended up playing a few hours with Clavens, Vince B, Ian B and Ken. Don't think I actually played a game with Ken, hes pretty good, wish I had. Somewhere in there Age spiked my hair up with gel.

Then we played some poker, which started out pretty fun, and Im not going to go into the rest of the night.

DAY 3

Thanked, Age and Ken for everything. Rolled home with Drew M, Bruce D, and John S.

Really fun most of the weekend, I'm sure theres stuff I'm missing but when I remember Ill post it.

Cheers,
B

Nice write up!

Btw, I think this whole "horrible incident" thing is just an insiders joke that everyone agreed to be a part of >> that is, you're all trying to start a big rumor when nothing really happened.

Then again, maybe I'm wrong, and something truly serious did happen, and now I'm a big jerk for making light of it.

Ok, I'm shutting up now.
