ken, thank you very much for coming up with a sick 3 that really fits to me and that i've also thought of. i can hit motion>twirl and twirl>pdx torque, so i hope to get the sick 3 soon.
my flip reverse swirl record is something i'd rather not want to talk about. ;) it's very embarrassing as i think it's either 2-3. my flip rev swirl is getting a lot more consistent now, but i've still got a hard time to do consecutives.

i'm still not playing a lot of footbag. i think it will maybe change once we can play outside, but then on the other hand my shins are something you can't rely on, so even if i only play twice a week, after each session my shins need a couple of days to recover.
i've been biking a lot though which is a good and a bad thing. on the one side it's a good physical activity that doesn't bother my shins, but on the other side it also makes my legs tired and kills my need to move my legs. maybe that will change, once i get used to biking. on a lot of days i bike around 1 1/2 hours a day. it's not a lot and not hard physical activity, but if you do it every day, you'll notice that your legs are kind of tired.
recently i haven't been very lucky with biking though. three days ago the lock of my bike completely froze and yesterday i had a flat tire.

yesterday i really enjoyed playing footbag. i played with rune, nis and kim and i felt that the general footbag vibe in the room was really good. i think we pretty much all enjoyed ourselves and hit some nice stuff. for the first time in over a month, i actually managed to hit some hard and longish runs. i can remember one run that was smear>ss smear (rpt)>magellan>pixie ss pickup>pixie legover>magellan>pixie legover>motion>another 10 contacts of probably mostly whirl stuff.
then i've hit tap>tapping legover and atomic legover>legbeater, had a really high and nice flip atomic set.

my sister is visiting me on the weekend. looking forward to it, but i hope she doesn't only want to go shopping. i hate nothing more than shopping and that comment of her really made me pissed off. ;) well, we'll see, it's always fun to go out with my little sister though. :)

still pretty busy with reading all those pages for my university classes (i actually should be reading a lot more, but i want to have a life as well). i surprisingly like european union law and so far i'm pretty good at it. it's really nice that i like all those international law subjects and especially human rights, as i'm planning to work for the UN or and NGO later. maybe i'll study something else after i finish my studies, the idea of finishing soon, finally made me scared too.

i made the show on saturday with larni. it was during a fashion show in a shopping center. it was a bit strange but okay, maybe even a video will show up soon, but I'm not sure if I'll post it here ;)
but I tell you that it is hard to keep concentration right before the performance when models are changing their outfits in the backstage area next to you :o :D 8)

thanks to the autsiders for providing the training space and a driver and drinking beer afterwards. I felt like a VIP 8) Muchas gracias!!!!

today i had my first solo session here in copenhagen. yeah, i'm so happy that i motivated myself to have an outdoor solo session. kim was sick, all the other people here are quite lazy and i didn't want to play only once in a whole week. so i got my headband, gloves, a long t-shirt, my speakers and my i-pod, looked for a half decent place to play at and succeeded. the worst thing here is not the cold, but the wind. i was really happy when i found a tiny place that had kind of three walls protecting me from the wind.
yeah! :D i turned on my speakers, searched for some good drum'n'bass and started my solo session. it wasn't a very good session, but i enjoyed to play, so that was good. hit a few ripsteins, pdx blenders, torques and atomic legover>atomsmaher all first try to finnish my session, so that felt good.
:)

had a nice weekend with my sister. hehe, i think i really took good care of my sister, cooked food for her, walked with her around copenhagen, showed her christiania and stengade 30, drank some beer with her, etc.
on sunday two other friends and two days later my boyfriend are coming. they'll all stay for a week.

i should really start to work on my presentation for wednesday now. t.p. and k.m. v. the united kingdom.

@aleksei: yeah. i agree. but only sometimes. ;)

long time, no post and footbag.
i don't know. somehow it's really hard to motivate myself to play some footbag. besides on thursdays, there's nobody to play with (and this week's training was cancelled, because of easter holidays). last monday kim, mads and i wanted to play, but then there was this snowstorm and all of us didn't feel like getting outside & actually bike to training for 25 minutes. that's what i don't like about biking, sometimes that steels your motivation. then there's my shin splints that never go away. every time i play, i get them. after two days of not footbagging, my legs are fine and ready to get shin splints again. 1 1/2 weeks ago was my last footbag session that lasted for 45 minutes. as i told you, it was snowing hard that day. i forced myself to go to the cellar of my apartment building and play a bit of footbag. it wasn't cold there as i had expected, but the lighting was really bad and the room was so dirty that i will probably never go there again. every time i dropped the bag, it was covered in dirt, it was really gross.
i hope that doesn't sound too bitter. i still like footbag and in a way, i think that will last for a long time. i watch videos and read reports about tournaments of todexon and admire how much time people put into footbag, how much time they practise, how serious they take it. some part of me, also wants to be like that, the other part wants to let it go.
there is this one part in me, that still wants to do well in competitions, the other part tells me not to care. i didn't go to worlds this year and missed austrian championships, but i'm glad that i did. i had a great time in burma/thailand. there's a chance that i might not go to euros this year. if lise let's me join the footbag denmark crew, i'll go to roskilde festival instead.
i still hope that once lise gets back and once the weather will get better (right now i believe that there is no such thing as spring in denmark), i can play a bit more of footbag. sometimes i feel that i'm still an okay player.

i guess there is no spring in whole europe this year. we had a lot of snow yesterday here in Vienna too and freezing temperatures.

I hope you still want to play footbag when you come back to vienna. it's kinda boring sometimes without you here.

I really understand your way to think about euros and roskilde and stuff. i did not see todexon as a tournament for myself. I just wanted to have a fun weekend and I really enjoyed it. so I'm also not sure how much I want to push myself this spring/summer.
it would be cool to play five times a week and progress in a fast way, but I don't see me playing alone at least 3 times a week. well whatever, we'll see what nice weather will bring, hopefully some motivation ;)

i don't know whether i'm suffering from footbag depression. maybe it's that, but maybe i'm also getting older, finding other priorities in life, etc.
i can really relate to the things alex wrote though. i think it's a good way to just go to a tournament to have some fun. but then on the other hand i want footbag to be a sport and i think that competitions help that image grow. but i also truely hate competing. but there are only so very few women playing that take footbag quite serious that i feel responsible to play/compete/whatever. lol, i think i'm quite ambivalent when it comes to those things.

on thursday, however, i finally played footbag again. i hadn't really played in three weeks, so i was sucking really bad. even got quite a few props, which made me feel even worse, even though i know of course that people were just trying to be nice.

because i sucked a lot, i decided to play today. yahoo. second session this week. i went into my odious cellar that is awfully dirty and managed to play for an hour. i'm proud of myself.

not that it's very good, but just so that i can post something in here, i've hit 22 contacts of whirl>pdx whirl rpt. i wanted to hit 30 contacts, because i never really count when i do that drill, but failed. i was still content.

i'll go to roskilde festival instead of euros now. :)

yeah. starting my danish course in a week! i hope that this will really help me to start to understand more. :)

had a really good easter break. got a visit from my boyfriend and two other friends. i've got a really big apartment, so it was fine, we all got along well, went to other places in denmark and had fun.

last wednesday i went to a drum'n'bass party again. dj hype! yeah. it was really good. it's been now almost 6 years that i go to drum'n'bass parties and drum'n'bass still remains as my favourite music ever. :)

hehe, and of course, i'll play footbag when i'll come back to vienna. looking forward to our MQ sessions! :)

YEAH ROSKILDE! I totally can't wait..

I hope you make it to Svendborg soon for a visit.

I think 22 contacts of whirl>pdx whirl rpt is really good.
But of course I can't do a single whirl on either side.

oh. I will miss you at euros :( I guess that's one more reason to visit you in kopenhagen. is there still a weekend free?

sounds like an awesome weekend in roskilde and I totally understand your decision! so you will return to vienna after roskilde? is mathias also going? he told me he'll miss euros because he's going to a festival, but not roskilde :?

Hey verena...

Don't sweat too much over footbag depressions.. they come and go! And the joy only comes back much faster, if you don't beat yourself up about not playing!!

About competing.. I know what you mean when saying that only so few women play and take it seriously so you feel obliged to compete too... but hey... why not just participate in the competition for the fun and experience of it... maybe that'll take off some of your self-encouraged pressure and you'll enjoy it much more, and maybe do even better!!! I know that compared to all the other girls around who take it seriously, I won't ever stand a chance.. but I really don't care, cause it's really all about giving others a good experience watching you and giving yourself a good experience performing.. both of which I believe you can only do if you're relaxed.

Anyways that was all my blabbering... I'll pretty soon find out if I'll change my ticket home.. if not, I'll see you in the sun at Roskilde! Otherwise I guess it's gonna be worlds. It'll be good kicking with you one day - for the first time ever!

Say hi to all the nice guys in Copenhagen!

@anne: yeah, you're absolutely right. that's the attidue i should have. i tried to tell it myself a thousand of times, but somehow i'm not really getting it. ;) no, but it's not that i don't like competing at all, the awesome feeling after a nice routine, makes it all worth i guess...
and i like to do demos/shows in front of other people, but i guess that's different. but i'm definitely not the entertainer kind of person, that's for sure...
it would be so cool if you decided to go to roskilde!! :)
@toby: hope you had a chance to hang out/shred with the footbag-vienna crew!

yesterday i had the first footbag session in over a week. i felt pretty rusty and my legs were very heavy. i couldn't tell my legs to move faster, so i just practised some combos and gave my flipside a chance to get better.
a while ago i hit symp. whirling rake. yesterday i finally hit pixie rake>fairy rake after footing it for the first time 1 1/2 years ago. ;) then i also hit ss dlo x5.

unfortunately my knees don't feel very good. hehe, sometimes i feel like an old woman. over a week ago, after a solo footbag session, they really hurt a lot for four days, and now they don't hurt anymore, but everytime i bike it feels like somebody is pulling on my ligaments.

apart from that, i'm enjoying copenhagen. :) it's getting spring now! :) spring made me realize how much i hate winter. maybe i should really move to another country.

finally i started with my danish course. unfortunately the course is too easy for me, but i think it will still help a lot, because it forces me to speak danish and it helps me to understand more, as the teacher is only speaking in danish.

i should really start to do a lot more for university. i have to hand in two papers in 2 weeks, and soon after that my exams will start. the good news is that i'll be done with university in the middle of may. so that means i've got 1 1/2 months of holidays in copenhagen!!

i finally hit flurry yesterday :)
