footbag mag
footbag mag
I really feel as if somebody should take the initiative to start a mass producing footbag magazine where subjects can be written about and lists can be explained. It would inform on what is being hit and by whom. It also opens the sport to a wider audience like Transworld Skateboarding does for skateboarding. If some kid sees a Footbag mag in a grocery store, it might just inspire them. I think that footbag could be a lot bigger if there were more companies out there making bags... AND SHOES... there needs to be a footbag shoe company. Just to make the perfect footbag shoe instead of modifying a shoe untill it's fitting fot the sport. I would just like there to be a medium that everyone could subscribe to and obtain knowledge from instead of having to go through forums or e-mails to look for.
A footbag magazine isn't worth the trouble. There's no advertising money to fund a magazine and the internet already is a fast and useful medium. I think the effort would be better spent on just exposing footbag. The more people that know about footbag, the sooner magazines and footbag shoes will be made.

ok, we're not talkin about a huge 300 pager or anything. But we could do like the skaters do and send out a small phamplet with bags and shoes and gear every month with some pages of newest and biggest tricks and pics of pros and crap like that, but anyone that doesn't wanna do this should be hit....hard.
I'm with Sergey...fuck adds

there was also one called kickers quarterly.
before i was guiltless, i asked my parents for a subscription to this for my birthday. i didnt realize that they only printed like 14-some issues in total ever. i would love a magazine. it would have to be well-designed though. i cant bear looking at poorly designed media.
it could come with a cd rom every month. or whatever. how cool!!
also. a footbag shoe would be PHAT!! anyone who seriously freestyles and says a footbag shoe is pointless has no idea what hes talking about. period. (ps: a footbag shoe would NOT be flat. thats dumb..)

Damn. i always knew that i didnt know what i was talking about, but i was just hoping that nobody else would
But seriously, what else are you going to do to a shoe that the lavers dont already have? And when you think about that, u must also try to keep it from destroying all asthetic value.

well maybe, since there arent that many footbag players, it could just get mirken to send them like 40 bags, of any color, and then just ship them out. it wouldnt realy make him have alot more orders, because instead of the internet, people would just start ordering over the cataloge

longrun
I'm was just being idealistic, but I do think that a middle man such as a distributing catalogue would be a great idea, anybody who makes bags can just contact the distributor and have the information sent through them. the middle man could purchase mass quantities of bags and then sell them through a catalogue. It really wouldn't be a difficult tast. It would just have to look nice, maybe somebody that is really good with graphic arts could take ahold of this?

i would agree with Dat that a magazine would probably be a fairly fruitless exercise, at this point anyway. It would be better left until there is more money in footbag and we have more products and a greater audience to appeal to. I understand that it would help for exposure to the average person in a newsagency but really not many ppl will buy it at the moment and the money would be wasted
I think Dat was right in saying that the money would better be spent on demos, tv spots and the like to get the exposure happening, rather than trying to sell a magazine that would have a very small buying demographic or whatever
Of course it would be a mad idea eventually, but i think the internet serves the purpose as far as information is concerned as i find magazines to always be about a month behind the latest news eg. video games
Footbag footage doesnt really lend itself to static images very well either

I think it would be a great idea, because there are soooo many people hitting these tricks and I have no clue who the "pro's" are and stuff... Really open my mind a little more to understanding Footbag. And having reviews would help out a lot also. I would also like to see how some Footbagers would be creative for pictures...
