About the contest:
Here's what you do guys: Create a video of 90 seconds or less showcasing your skill in a ball sport. Your video may include the biggies—basketball, baseball, soccer, football, golf, tennis—the lesser obvious ones— volleyball, water polo, cricket, rugby, croquet—and even the fooseballs and Super Balls of the world.

You can kick it, throw it, shoot it, catch it, juggle it, dribble it, heck do a dance with it if you like. If you're phenomenal enough, you could win.

Wow, amazing find!

I'm thinking Penske, Clavens, or Bevier would be great for this. Maybe use a slightly bigger bag, and definitely use slow-mo. I think footbag's best chance would be for somebody with editing skills to make a video specifically for this contest. The tricks don't even need to be that crazy, it just needs to be shot well and presented with slow-mo.

Hmm....I do know someone who lives near me that is very good at footbag and has a style that pretty much everyone likes. I also know of someone who lives EXTREMELY close, who owns a camera and can film the previously said person. This may be possible.

EDIT: I talked to Evan and he said he wants to do this. He'll play, I'll film and edit. I don't want him to just do simple stuff. I want to present footbag as a sport that high level athletes play, but I don't want the judges to get lost either.

Some ideas I have:
-I think it would be cool if we could get a footbag that resembles the "world" that is in the Gillette commercials.
-Bag following?
-1 long run (30 contacts or so), a couple medium length runs (10 contacts or so), a few sick 3's, and a few sick 1's.
-Lots o' slow mo.
-Maybe make it look like one long run.

I still have to read the official rules, but anyone have any suggestions about what we should do?

okay, here is what i think will work best.

lots of huge moves. however, ones that are processible by non footbag people. torque is ard to understand. but a fairy ripstein in slowmo wpuld scream awesome.

i think editing to look like one big run from a bunch of different angles makes it look really cool. theres a video somewhere like this, the kid is by a lake and wearing a polo shirt, but i cant find it right now.

i think a portion should be bag tracking, but not the whole thing. its strong, but can be overdone.

a great example of almost ALL of this is the recent andrew grant video by erik chan. huge shred, mostly slowmo, some bag tracking, multiple camera angles, great editing.

music choice is CRUCIAL. i think it has to be just right, so its taken seriously, but not look like we think we are hardcore, but nobody else will.

this could be good. i hope it is done well, but im sure you guys will do a great job. =)

The old saying was beware of the blades. Maybe incorporate that somehow. Tiger used to play alot of hackeysack so it would be great if he was a judge or if he could do a cross promotion with footbag.

Actually the "FootBag" World Championships are held in Toronto every year.

A number of colleges have club teams and compete with other colleges similar to ball golf, i wouldnt be suprised if schools did offer scholarships 10 years from now, for yes - discgolf.

And somewhat off topic but notable- It is the usual elitist attitude of members of "clubs". They think they are some type of group who are on the cutting edge of the sport, they want the sport to get recognition, but yet they don't want it to become too "mainstream" because then nobody would give a s**t about their stupid club.

I would bet the article's mention of the feud had something to do with fighting over who should be recognized as the original disc golf club...get off your high horses, you belong to a DISC GOLF CLUB, it doesn't get any more geeky than that!!!

If you truely support the sport, you would be glad people are interested in it

i think that a lil bit of juggling 2 or 3 bags would look awesome, soooooooo easy to understand (unlike torque or fairy riptstein (even in slowmo))

imo, fairy ripstein is as "understandable" as gauntlet or nuclear ducking swirl (hit by Suderman at world this year) or 69 !!

I just want to say that I love this notion. I hate the idea of dumbing things down so that people understand. Slow-mo is one thing, but doing easier tricks and pretending like that's the sport -- that's dishonest. Frankly, being dazled into the inability to comprehend is pretty impressive. Don't go easy on them (the judges)...

easy there, bro. i was saying that visually, its hard to understnad whats going on with a torque. ripstein is one of the most visually pleasing footbag moves there are, along with whirr. and since i was giving advice specifically to bemn and evan, i know that evan ids good at frankensteins.... its a sweet move.
