Sweet! I finally get to start one of my own pages!

So, I knew 25 was going to be a good year for me. Today, the 25th of April, my fork that I ordered Feb. 21 FINALLY arrived!!!! WOOO!!!!

It's sooooo pretty, and best of all I can barspin my 700c DeepV!

I am gonna go take some pics then update this post.

I have been ACHING for this fork to arrive, it's been really holding be back in some ways. I did manage to bend my old fork into a sorta usable shape and I learned some good stuff even though it was sorta a deathtrap. And actually, I filmed all afternoon on Wednesday in Toronto and I hit some REALLY good stuff!

So, my fork has finally arrived this morning and ideally I'd have gone to the bike mechanic to help me put it all together right, but he is too busy today and I have to wait until tomorrow morning. Also, tomorrow is Saturday and that means bike polo in Hamilton! Woo!

It will be my second time out, it's a really fun crowd!

I built up one of my old bikes to be my polo bike, but I still need a set of cranks for it to be complete.

Oh, perhaps I should say some things about GRASS!

It was REALLY REALLY GREAT!!

Jorden blew up the show, he had the only genuine standing ovation AND juggled more balls than any other act in the JUGGLING show! haha

GRASS always has a really great vibe, lots of familiar smiling faces and the atmosphere is really positive.

I was stoked to be shredding! It didn't hurt to play! I played in my climas (that Johnny stitched up on the way there, THANKS!!) on Friday and Saturday just so that I could shred a little more intense and with less pain. I had fun with that, I can definitely shred way way more aggressive in the climas, mostly because the surfaces are sooo forgiving. I know I play a little sloppier but it's just fun to play at a higher level. On Sunday I played in Lavers again, I think I played pretty well still, I am used to playing in them now so it's not as big a shock to switch between climas and them anymore.

I am going to go snap a pic of my bike with the new fork on it! Whee!

Tom I had a dream the other night where I just bought a brand new fixed gear bike and was testing it out. I've never ridden one before but it seemed pretty cool in the dream

And I was like 'hey Tom check this out' and attempted to spin the front wheel round while in a wheelie.
I think I fell a few times.
My curiousity is definitely piqued. But I would never want to be accused of being a sucker for trends.

They must be expensive eh? I know there's a place near my house, maybe I'll check it out.

Fixed gear bikes can be really cheap! Less parts means cheaper price. Nice fork tom, time for barspins?

Oh man, life's been a treat!

Lots of ups and downs but only the ups stand out in my mind.

The Friday before GRASS after I picked Johnny up from the train station I saw on the side of the road this adorable girl on a siiiiick track bike. If this was Toronto I'd have looked and moved on, but this was Oakville, people don't ride bikes, let alone mint track bikes. SO, I pulled the car over and hopped out to talk to her! haha This was SO out of the ordinary for me, I was on auto-pilot though, I don't even know what I said.

Early on in the chat she mentioned that her boyfriend built the bike for her and that it was a Bomb Proof Bike. I think it was right then that my mind launched off down a tangent imagining what could be done with a partnership with him.

Anyways, skipping ahead a few weeks to present day and they have quickly become a source of alot of excitement in my life! I got together with them a few days ago to have a look at my bike to find out what things I'd broken filming my video part (the footage is in the mail to IN to be edited) and to discuss what the ideal track trick bike would be.

Oh, and the reason we were discussing the perfect bike was because he wants to put one in my hands, frrrreeeeee!!

Booya!! And to say he is excited to meet me is an understatement! He has SO many ideas, he is really keen on marketing me and getting me lots of sponsors. I am kinda shy about asking for stuff but he is really glad to do it!

After working on my bike at the shop he works at (which was SUCH a hookup!!!!! I got a free new BB out of it!) we headed to his house for some home made pizza and more work on my bike. Actually, the part at the shop was pretty crazy. We had to hammer my BB shell back to shape then re-tap the threads. Also, my frame is cracked. We are going to try to weld that back together and to put a gnarly grind plate on the BB.

I saw them (their names are Cake (Chrissy) and Zef) again last night at a dance party in Toronto and it already feels like we've forged a great friendship. They are smart and fun and they actually DO THINGS!

All this time I've been spending in Toronto has really been showing me that it's a lively and pretty awesome city. Since I am stuck in north america for a while anyways, I am getting increasingly tempted to move to Toronto for a while. Right now I am working on getting an entry level mech eng job in Toronto and then living there until my money pile is big enough.

I am still moving to Berlin eventually!!

Money sucks!

One last thing, I forgot to mention when talking about GRASS that I got second in TEN with flying toe stalls.

I am getting hooked up with a free custom track frame made to take the abuse I give and lots of help along the way.

hey dude. sorry we don't talk anymore but i don't use msn messenger anymore. i still fondly recall our phat chill session at worlds. i started reading your blog again once i got into fixed gear. i know what you mean about this place just not being the same anymore, especially when you don't even play (i'm at once a week tops these days). lets talk about bikes sometime

So after all that pouting up above I wound up having a SOLO SESSION today! hah!

I havn't had one in recent memory! I have only played once since GRASS and it actually felt REALLY good to play!

I spent alot of time drilling but also heaps of just plain shredding because it feels so good.

I even filmed a Stephen Barnes One-Shot run!
